Angeldust v2.19 release notes

Here's the list of changes in Angeldust v2.19:

Serious Request

In-game friend requests! It's been a long time coming. Enjoy sending and accepting friend requests right from within Angeldust. Accessible using the new telecharger 'Friends' button:

BUT WATI! THERE'S MORE! If you have a lot of friends, once any of them come online, they will be at the top of your telecharger. You'll always be able to visit your online friends this way.

More friends. More fun.

To make new friends there's now a daily bonus for using the 'Play together!' feature in your telecharger. You can get A LOT of coins each day using this. Here's a complex schematic, let me know if you are able to decipher it:

"I'll cut you down to size!"

Last update brought discoverable, plantable trees. Turning this up to eleven you can now chop them down block by block, resizing the tree as you like:

You can now also place trees anywhere. They'll fit snuggly within their allotted space (making it green). Using these new features you can make nice plant and flower pots, like this:

Get on my level

A few top Angeldust players have a lot of coins. A LOT of coins. Previously they couldn't show off their status in-game due to a cap at level 250. Literally unplayable, so we fixed it. Enjoy much higher player levels in-game:

Machete don't text

Some call it essential. Some call it cute. You can now scale the text size on all desktop platforms (Windows, macOS and Linux) to see more stuff on screen. Thanks to Alex for suggesting this feature:

Using the 'minimal' text size Angeldust will cram a lot of items in the inventory display on a full HD display:

Additional changes
  • Add distinct 'friend offline' sound effect
  • Make axe action repeatable to streamline tree chopping
  • User interface layout improvements

Angeldust v2.18 release notes

Here's the list of changes in Angeldust v2.18:

Improved texture set!

It took awhile, but Angeldust now as an improved and polished texture set. Buildings now really stand out, mountains are more impressive and the overall presence of being 'in the game world' is much improved.

There will be a more extensive post on this improvement, but here are a few initial screenshots already, showing parts of the new texture set on builds by Geldis and KitoBär:

Trees, a crowd!

The builder hero can now discover, unlock and plant trees. Target the tree trunk with your axe and swing. Your axe will even glow yellow and give off sparks in the hotbar:

Each tree gives you 750 coins. That's some easy cash up for grabs:

Planting is as easy as well. Select the tree from your inventory, and use it on the spot where you want it. You'll need plenty of room (trees are big!) and you can only place them on top of blocks:

Hint, hint!

The 'new stuff' nearby hint is now more awesome than ever before. Along with the extra sparks flying of your shovel and axe, it's hard to miss new, unlockable items in the game world:

In addition, the Angeldust website (at PlayAngeldust.com) will now also list trees as possible discoveries in each of the game world areas:

Iconic improvements

Speaking of the Angeldust website, it now has updated block icons with a transparent background. Also, the stairs block icons now have shadows (in-game, too!):

Additional changes
  • fix hedge block not sticking to other materials
  • added fences around village park trees
  • improve village foliage appearance consistency
  • allow riding on undiscovered creatures
  • fix water color not being affected by fog

Angeldust v2.17 release notes

Here's the list of changes in Angeldust v2.17:

Bears. Beets…

You can now ride bears! Many players asked for this, mostly from Russia. It's beary exciting to ride one of these bad boys, so give it a try!

Mr. Bones' Wild Ride

Ridden creatures will now turn wild as soon as you start riding another creature, because they're pretty jealous. This also happens to mitigate the strategy of quickly neutralizing groups of enemies by quickly riding and dismounting them.

> moonwalking in 2017 lol

Since the launch of Angeldust, players have been moonwalking everywhere. Very fashionable in the 80's, but somewhat out of style in 2017. So we fixed it! You'll actually walk backwards now. Hurray for the 21st century!

Golden. Delicious.

On some platforms, there was a bug where the treasure material didn't properly flow into other materials, leading to openings in the game world geometry. This is fixed, so you won't see gaps like these anymore:

Ludo Ergo Sum

Another doozie: creatures (and other entities) in the Angeldust game world now remain live while nobody is looking. Thanks to this improved game world permanence, you'll no longer lose your mount when walking:

Call of Cutie

Speaking of losing your mount. Don't! With Angeldust v2.17 you can call your horse by flourishing. Double tap the 'F'-key, the rightmost (B)-button on your game controller or the flourish icon on your touchscreen. Once you flourish, your mount will come running towards you!

Additional changes
  • optimize creature A.I. and animations for backpedalling
  • improve visual fidelity of recorded game replays
  • fix a few misspellings

Angeldust v2.16 release notes

Here's the list of changes in Angeldust v2.16:

Giddy-up!

The headline feature of this update is horse riding! There are rumors of other creatures being rideable too.

Saddle up!

To ride horses (and potentially other creatures), you'll need the brand new saddle item from the shop. It's expensive, but it's the best way to show off your riches and status to fellow players.

Mount up!

You'll quickly notice that the saddle doesn't automatically get assigned to the item hotbar at the bottom of the screen. That's because it's bound to shortcut keys on all platforms, making it easy to mount and dismount:
  • The E-key on a keyboard
  • The top action button (Y) on a game controller
  • The 'saddle' button on a touch screen

Once you've mounted your creature, you can move around a bit quicker than on foot. You'll also heal gradually. But most of all, you will look cooler than ever before. Here's a scout horsing around on a race track built by Geldis:

Never gonna give you up!

Your mount will never run around and desert you. It's tied to your hero no matter what happens. Nobody can steal it or run away with it. You'll spawn with your most recent creature once you sign in to the game. Note that each of your four heroes has a distinct mount.

Segue into:

Here's an oft-requested feature. Artificial materials will no longer fade into natural materials. This allows you to create hard visual edges between your buildings and the game world. Build nicer gardens, pathways and castles:

It takes a bit of time getting used to, but after a while it's hard imagining the game any other way. We hope this change brings the building aspect of Angeldust more in line with your expectations!

Additional changes
  • optimized video RAM usage for heroes, horse, moa and wyrm
  • fixed occasional sprite flicker
  • improved hoof sound effect timing
  • improved item interaction interface
  • improved texture preloading and unloading

Angeldust v2.15 release notes

Here's the list of changes in Angeldust v2.15:

Stairways (to heaven)

This update adds stair blocks with over 25 different materials. Build straight or angled stairs to add lots of detail and depth to your builds. The entire Angeldust village has changed as well:

Conveyor belts and trampolines

Angeldust's game world used to be passive, but not anymore! You can now build animated, working conveyor belts and trampolines. Construct elaborate tours through your builds and make interesting parkour runs:

Claim your stake — once more

Land claims have been halved in price, from 2.000 to just 1.000 coins (players have been refunded the difference). You can now claim up to 64 lands, enabling a massive 256 x 256 block area to build on:

Scroll bars

The Angeldust user interface has been updated to include functional scroll bars. This makes navigation of screen much easier. You can now also use the 'Home' and 'End' buttons for scrolling:

Additional changes
  • added 25+ new chair and table blocks
  • improved message user interface
  • improved networking on broken firewalls and 'internet shield' software
  • improved village rendering performance
