I thought I was finally free from stealth-focused Skyrim builds, then someone modded in the ability to hide in bushes




It's me, the player who starts Skyrim over and over with different mod loadouts and yet, nine times out of 10, ends up crouching with a bow shooting draugr in slow motion. Every now and then I push myself into another playstyle—like two-handed melee barbarian or summon-focused wizard—but drift back to my old favorite. I haven't installed the mod that just kills you if you play Stealth Archer again, but I am absolutely part of the reason that mod exists...

I didn't even know I was bothered by how bad Skyrim's NPCs look during the split second they're opening doors, and now a modder's pointed it out the mod to fix it has become essential




The way NPCs open doors in Skyrim has always been a bit silly. When they're crossing load screens they can't open them all the way—because then the other side would have to be rendered—and so they pop doors open a crack revealing a sliver of darkness, then fade out of existence like the guy in that one meme...

Skyrim mod The Rot Below promises a '3–6 hour dungeon experience' and is fully voice-acted




Sometimes in Skyrim you wander into a hole in the ground, fight some draugr, defeat a dragon priest, collect a shout, and leave via an exit that conveniently loops you back to where you came in. Sometimes you end up in a gloaming fungal underworld and only emerge hours later barely remembering what the surface looks like.
