Brightrock’s Next Game — Kaiju Cleanup & Studio Update

[/p][p]Thrilling news streaming in from the exonet Director. Video game developer Brightrock Games, who were immortalised digitally sometime in the late 21st century have announced their first new video game in several hundred years.[/p][p]In partnership with Mythwright, they’ve revealed the job simulation videogame Kaiju Cleanup is coming to Steam and other platforms at some point in the next several decades, they didn’t really give a timescale. [/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]The game seems to be about methodically deconstructing Kaiju, harvesting their parts and cleaning up the mess left behind. Frankly Director I am bristling with anticipation for a gameplay loop that can finally bring me to satisfaction. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Given that we’ve saved the galaxy twice now we’re certainly due some R&R, check out the trailer, perhaps it’s something you’d like to pick up. Though maybe don’t share it with the consultants, Dr. Ohdious may find it a little too inspirational.[/p][p]

We and our partners at Mythwright are super excited to hear what you think, and are looking forward to sharing more over the coming months. [/p][p][/p][p]For those of you who’ve been with us for a while, we know this is a departure from our usual faire and might come as a bit of a surprise! After Galacticare — which was a big project for us — we wanted to try our hands at something smaller, lighter, and… messier. Looking further into the future, we’ve also got some other projects in the works, including a return to our roots deep underground.[/p][p][/p][p]Speaking of Galacticare, we don’t currently have any paid DLC in the works but there are a few smaller updates and bits of content in the pipes. We’ll keep you updated as these plans evolve! Overall we’re really pleased with the way Galacticare turned out, we think it helped to cement a “Brightrock” style that’s a little different, quirky and full of life and charm. Galacticare Publisher Update

[p]Greetings Directors,
[/p][p]As some of you might be aware, Brightrock recently signed a new multi-game partnership with us at Mythwright (ICYMI: we are now the publisher for War for the Overworld and you can read more about it here)
[/p][p]Today we bring more news, The Cult and Brightrock have agreed that going forward publishing will be handled by us for Galacticare.

v1.2.3 Patch Notes

Greetings Directors,

We have deployed a new minor patch primarily targeted at fixing a number of issues found in the main game and The Voice Beyond DLC.

[h2]Game Systems & Balance[/h2]

[h3]Ratings Goal Balance[/h3]

Designers Note: With the release of Patch 1.2 we loosened some of the tension of a number of ratings goals to ensure they were attainable and maintainable within a reasonable timescale and allowing for edgecases.

Patient & Staff Mood required a little more tweaking to achieve our aims as the system is more susceptible to fluctuations due to environmental factors. So we’ve loosened it some more, this should be much more maintainable now!

Reduced Staff & Patient “Good” Need Goals by an absolute 5% across the board.
  • Mood Goal reduced from 90% to 85%
  • Nutrition Goal reduced from 90% to 85%
  • Toilet Goal reduced from 90% to 85%
  • Seating Goal reduced from 90% to 85%


Unified neutral scores for Staff & Patient Need Goals.
  • Staff Mood Neutral Range reduced from 80% to 70%
  • Staff Nutrition Neutral Range reduced from 80% to 70%
  • Staff Toilet Neutral Range reduced from 80% to 70%
  • Staff Seating Neutral Range reduced from 80% to 70%
  • Patient Nutrition Neutral Range reduced from 80% to 50%
  • Patient Toilet Neutral Range reduced from 80% to 50%


[h3]Campaign[/h3]

Designers Note: Chapter 8 of the main campaign features a unique reduction in income from treatments. While this was accounted for in the ratings goals it was still a little harder to achieve than we liked, so we’ve adjusted the goal to be closer to the amount of income lost.

  • Reduced Chapter 8 Finances Goal by 38% relatively


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]

[h3]Achievement Fixes[/h3]

  • “Multi-Platinum Medicine” - Chapter 2’s Challenge Mode 5-Star Rating Achievement should now unlock correctly. If already completed, simply entering the level should award the achievement.
  • “It’s All Coming Together” - The Voice Beyond Chapter 2’s Challenge Mode 5-Star Rating Achievement should now unlock correctly. If already completed, simply entering the level should award the achievement.
  • Fixed edge-cases in which the 5-Star and 5-Star Challenge Mode achievements for The Voice Beyond Chapters 1-3 could not unlock correctly


[h3]Gameplay Fixes[/h3]

  • Conditions not encountered by the player are no longer considered valid targets for the Research Room’s automatic research selection
  • Saboteurs which are actively pathing should now die immediately upon clicking the disintegrate button


[h3]UI Fixes[/h3]

  • The CABAL Abbatoir Model is now correctly purchaseable in the Galactic Exchange
  • Artifacts should no longer disappear from or be duplicated in the player’s inventory
  • Fixed an issue where unexpected elements were appearing in the research target list


[h3]Campaign Fixes[/h3]


  • Fixed an issue where HEAL identified the wrong mutation in chapter 3 of The Voice Beyond
  • Fixed an issue where the “Return to Sender” objective in The Voice Beyond Chapter 3 did not complete correctly


[h3]Visual Fixes[/h3]


  • Fixed a number of conflicting visual accessories for Xil and Dyonai patients which would interfere with certain conditions
  • Fixed a case where certain Xil Accessories would appear too frequently
  • Fixed a case where some Ohde Accessories would appear on the Xil
  • Fixed the curious case of the missing nose on Dyonai afflicted by Glacial Cortext
  • Fixed a missing texture of belt accesories for some species


[h3]Other Fixes[/h3]

  • Fixed an issue where canister conditions could randomly mutate in challenge mode
  • Fixed some rare issues which could cause save corruption
  • Fixed a rare issue where you could become hard-locked on a loading screen
  • Fixed minor issues in the Ohde & Tenki's society/physiology details
  • Fixed a crash caused by characters becoming stuck
  • Fixed a few errant audio timings

v.1.2.2 Hotfix Patch Notes

Greetings Directors,

We've rolled out a small hotfix to correct a series of interrelated issues where DLC content would appear in the base game's sandbox mode prior to the level they were intended to unlock at.

[h2]Bug Fixes - Other[/h2]
  • Fixed a rare save corruption bug
  • Fixed issue where "advanced blueprints" in the Research labs was showing all the objects in the game, and then research progress stops
  • DLC - Chapter 2 - Sandbox - Too many Patients!
