Patch ready for testing at branch "Unstable"

To all Kriegsmarine Crewmembers ready to dive into deep waters,

As promised in many places we prepared the first patch. As we put a lot of work into this and there are plenty of changes, we have a kind request for you.
  1. Go to properties of the game in the library,
  2. move to the last tab - BETAS,
  3. pick the Unstable branch from the drop-down menu,
  4. you now gained access to the patch,
  5. wait for the patch to be applied.

Can you try it out and leave any feedback you might have in this thread?

Please add output logs through:

The fixes are as follow:
  • Disabled certain physics optimizations to fix crashes on CPUs that don't support SSE4 or AVX.
  • Important performance improvements related to rendering.
  • Noticeable optimizations to memory usage and execution time of terrain generation procedure. Fixed few related bugs found during stress tests.
  • Fixed few RAM/VRAM memory leaks related to entering and leaving scene areas like ports.
  • One of the AA guns in La Rochelle was sticking out of the port.
  • Objective ordering player to equip breathing apparatus during tutorial could stay indefinitely on the screen.
  • Engine gears could stay indefinitely blocked on the UI telegraph.
  • Decreased resolution of some less important textures.
  • FPP on-screen hints don't appear at the beginning of the tutorial, because they explain functions that are disabled at this point.
  • Fixed multiple issues appearing after leaving tutorial by clicking the button on the mission completion message (not being able to leave upgrades view, missing saves and more).
TLDR: We tried to eliminate as many crashes origins as possible, we fixed the tutorial and some issues that happened after the tutorial when you moved to the sandbox.

We are still reading all your comments and move our forces to deal with any other things you report. You're the best! Thank you for all the kind words and faith in us. We won't disappoint you.

Yours,
Deep Water Studio

UBOAT has sailed into Early Access!

Hi everyone!

The ship has sailed. UBOAT is now available on Steam Early Access. We are super excited to finally let you aboard! After months of constant improvements during the beta period, it feels great to share our work with all of you.

UBOAT is one of a kind submarine sim that - we believe - will let our players immerse themselves into the game and play with the unique crew management system.

Please keep in mind though, that it is still an early version. You may encounter some bugs, but we are committed to fixing them all as soon as possible. If you find a serious problem with the game, please let us know about it via Discussion Boards instead of posting a review straight away. The negative reviews at launch are very damaging to the game's development thus we are asking for your support and understanding. We are promising that our whole team is working around the clock to make sure that all problems will be addressed ASAP.

And to thank you for your interest we've decided to offer a discount even better than before - it's 15% off for anyone buying UBOAT during the launch period.

Rest assured you will be hearing a lot from us as we'll stay in touch constantly. Stay tuned and have fun!

Yours,
Deep Water Studio
