Update 2165: New Map Maker, Room Options & More!

Attention, Agents!

It’s been a while since the last update, but don’t worry, there is a lot coming your way very soon! With so much up and coming, we are very excited to show you a little of what we have been working on!

Mapmaker Update:

We have been hard at work on a brand new update for our Map Maker version 2.08, which will allow you to use custom items. A great example will be the new keycard system we have teased recently in our Discord, that we plan to use on our upcoming map, Checkpoint!

With this update, you will be able to insert custom items in game (like the keycard), linked to a special script allowing you to put said item in your inventory, and even to have an inventory icon for it.

The custom item you add will allow you to enable scripts, such as an activator, and it can also help you create custom game modes, such as needing a certain item to complete a goal on the map!

These items will not drop on death, and you’ll be able to make as many as 10 different custom objects per map, leaving you plenty of room to create some interesting systems!

New Room Creation Menu:

This update will bring a brand new room creation menu, with a lot (and we mean, a lot!) of requested settings from the community! You can now choose the number of rounds to win a set, and number of sets to win a match, for shorter or extra long matches. The new menu includes a new region selector, a ping limitation setting (rooms with different ping limites will have a notification), custom team names for clan matches, and much more!

Tie Breaker System:

We’re also glad to introduce a brand new feature for Intruder, a new tie breaker option for the game! This was heavily requested by our competitive community, and we are happy to announce that it can now be enabled in all servers and private rooms.

Now, this might appear convoluted, but the main difference is; The tie breaker set is no longer decided by a single round (on a random side). Instead you must win by two consecutive rounds, one as guards and one as intruders.

This will ensure your team is good as both intruders and guards, and helps balance out maps or game modes which may be slightly intruder-sided or guard-sided.

By default, the option will be off on every server, so if you like the current Intruder experience, no need to change anything and continue on as normal.

Cliffside 2.0:

As shown in a previous update, Cliffside is getting a complete overhaul, and we are super excited to show you how it is coming along!

Introduction to AI:

One of the most requested features by the game’s community has always been AI and PvE, and well, it’s finally time to introduce you to the game AI for the first time! While it is still very early in development and a work in progress, we’re stoked to show you some teasers!

We’re currently focusing on guard AI, who will patrol around the map, set rigs and search for players when seen or heard. The AI can even hear your voice if you’re not quiet. We cannot wait to fully introduce you to the new AI system and to hear all of your feedback, so be sure to join our Discord to be able to let us know when it’s time. ;)

Checkpoint:

While discussing new features and the introduction to keycards above, we did mention the system being implemented and tested on the upcoming map, Checkpoint. It’s been a while without updates about the map, so here’s a few screenshots to tease a little bit more, but more information is around the corner!

We will be dropping more teasers on our Discord, so make sure to join the community!

Miscellaneous and Fixes:
  • Fixed wild shooting from ragdoll bug (this might have given us an idea...)
  • Fixed hole in Riverside by mail room
  • Various Oceanside fixes coming soon
  • Fixed pickup collision size bug
  • Added servers for US West Region
  • Adjustable spawn rotations in official and Map Maker maps

Community and Game Nights:

One last thing, Agents. Our beloved MitchyD hosted a game night with us recently, and it was an absolute blast! We will be hosting those regularly moving forward, aiming to try more community workshop maps, expand the amount of ranked maps in the game, and just slog it out together in good fun! So this is just another of the already many reasons to come hang out in our community discord.

That’s it for this update! We hope you’re as excited as we are to try out some of these new features.

Make sure to join us on Discord for more information, community game nights, and to find teammates instead of jumping into pug lobbies!

See you on the island,
Superboss Games Team
