Hi all, and thank you for taking part in the Trailblazer Beta over this past weekend! We've received some great feedback and can't wait to get the final released version out to you all.

The Trailblazer Beta is now over, but we'll surely be back with more test periods for future releases. We look forward to seeing you all again then!

Trailblazer Beta: Tree and Tripod Stands Now Live!

Hello Hunters,

As you all know, Treestands and Tripodstands are soon to be released into the game. We’d love to get your feedback on these new items, and what better way to do it than with an Open Beta?

To continue our "Trailblazer Programme" we are offering a new Open Beta for the Treestand and Tripod Pack and encourage those of you who want to participate to share your thoughts and feedback on this long-requested addition to the game.

Please note that the Treestand and Tripod Pack will be a paid DLC upon release (but of course as with our other paid DLCs it will be available to play on multiplayer should your host own the content and has deployed stands to their map)

Useful information about Tripods and Treestands

  • Both stand types offer visibility and scent reduction
  • Up to 32 of each stand type can be deployed per map
  • Hunting pressure accrues at a rate of 25% of normal
  • Treestands require the correct tree type to deploy. As you’d expect a tree with excessive brush, or too small a trunk can’t support the use of a treestand.
  • Both stands will spook game in a certain radius when deployed for the first time, you should setup and plan your spots ahead of your planned hunt. You will not however spook game by entering/exiting.
  • In the final "live" version of the DLC a limited number of stands will be found in your storage already when you enter the game for the first time, additional stands can be purchased from the in-game store.

A great way to use your stands is to set up near previously located need zones, ideally with a tent nearby to allow convenient fast-travel. You can then cycle through your favourite hunting spots at will.

The Trailblazer Beta, what does it entail?

It’s a chance for you to, during a limited period, experience changes to the game before they are technically “live”. It’s also a way for us to test updates without “committing” them to the main version of the game.

How long does the Trailblazer Beta run for?

The Beta will be available from now, Friday May 24th, until Monday May 27th.

How can I get involved?

Right-click theHunter: Call of the Wild in your Steam library and click “Properties.'' A window will open, then click the tab at the far right labeled “Betas”, you will then come to a window that looks like the one below:

Please enter the following code in the box (without the quotation marks): “CalloftheWild”, then CLICK “Check Code” (just hitting enter won’t work). You should now notice that your game will start an update, this will be the Open Beta build installing.

Note: The download can potentially be large, and this will need to be re-downloaded as you switch between the live/Open Beta clients, so those on metered internet connections please bear that in mind.

So what happens to my old build and save files?

Nothing. When you start the Open beta client your game will be entirely “fresh”, you’ll have no save game, cash, skills etc. But don’t worry, this has NO effect on your “live” version of the game, you can switch back and forth at any time (see the next point below).

Note: We DO have a means for you to get up and running quickly in the Trailblazer Beta. Hit “Escape” and go to the Hunt Club Beta menu, there’ll be a reward there where you can claim a large sum of credits, a big XP boost and weapon score points in all categories.

I’ve had enough of testing the Open Beta for now, how do I go back to my normal version of the game?

Do the initial same steps as when installing the Open Beta, but when you get to the Beta tab you should not fill in a code. Instead in the drop-down box saying “Select the beta you would like to opt into:” you simply pick “None - opt out of all beta programs” and your client will run a small update. After that, you can play the normal version of the game again. You can switch back and forth between the live version and Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme at any time during the period just by using that dropdown menu.

How do I provide feedback or report issues I’ve found during the Open Beta/Trailblazer Programme?

Please use our “Beta Feedback” board on the Steam Community Hub here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/13/

What do you want us to test?

No specifics this time around. Just get out there, enjoy the stands, and let us know any feedback you might have to share after playing the beta.

TruRACS Patch Notes

New Feature: TruRACS (True Random Antler Configuration System)

TruRACS randomly generates animal trophies like antlers to drastically increase the variation that you can find in the game. No trophy will look like the other any more with more than 1 million variations per species. This update introduces TruRacs for Whitetail and Blacktail deer. More animals will be added over time.

New Feature: TruSCORE

The Harvest Screen now features information about your trophy and explains the scoring. All factors are explained for you to understand the calculation behind every trophy so you can scout for these factors when spotting new animals.

Added Gramophone to the Trophy Lodge

Locate the Gramophone in the Trophy Lodge and interact with it to cycle through different music that you can enjoy while spending time in the Trophy Lodge

Change Log:
  • Fixed crash when selecting “Trophy Lodge” in the side menu when in offline mode on PC
  • Fixed issue of common female mallard ducks appearing as males when placed as trophies
  • Fixed issue that sometimes resulted in buying wrong item at the cache
  • Fixed issue that allowed to interact with inactive UI layers (which often presented itself by clicking Quit to Desktop in the main menu when actually clicking Back in a submenu)
  • Improved network position interpolation for a better experience for players with older hardware or a bad internet connection. Animals will now move smoother from one place to the next and jitter less
  • Fixed issue of not being able to join a multiplayer game even if there was a last open slot remaining
  • Fixed issue of character standing while inside a layout blind
  • Fixed animation issue of Bison twisting its head unnaturally when hit
  • Fixed animation issue of recoil of shotguns going outwards
  • Fixed issue that caused player footsteps to be muted when holding Huntermate or certain items
  • Improved audio mix in the Trophy Lodge to better hear the birds in the trees
  • Updated the numbers for Rooms, Platforms and Plaques in the Spring Creek Manor Trophy Lodge
  • In Progress: Issues with mismatch of Geese groups between Host and Client.
This issue currently leads to problems in multiplayer where the host player can see Geese that other clients are not able to see. We are working on resolving this issue but it will unfortunately take more time.
