Alchemist Adventure News

The fog begins to lift on a new region!

Hello there everyone,

We are pleased to announce that hot on the heels of our last update - The Mysteries of the Homunculi - we're now putting the finishing touches on the next update.

We'll be going into more details into what you can expect from this update in the next few days, however, to give you a sneak peek, you can expect:

 • Four new regions including a very special maze with an incredible reward for those who complete it!
 • New characters that have new challenges and quests
 • New Gear
 • And of course, the highlight of every update, a new flask!
There will be many bug fixes and general gameplay improvements to the existing parts of the game as well!
New Flask
If you've been playing Alchemist Adventure, you'll know that the effects of the potions that you create are based on the type of flask that you use. So, the addition of a new flask will give you a lot of new options to experiment with!

The new Flask is called the 'Round Flask' though it may not be too obvious what it does upon first reading this, the effect of this flask actually makes a lot of sense once you know what it does.

So, with that in mind, can you guess what it does?

So that's it for this quick update, we'll be back later this week with some more information on the upcoming update. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter as we'll be sharing some more teasers from the update there soon!

Alchemist Adventure Update - The Mysteries of the Homunculi

Good news everyone the second major update to our early access is here!

Before we begin, we’d like to thank everyone who’s been playing our game and providing us with feedback. Thanks to you we have had a great insight into what you like, don’t like, find interesting, and so on. All of this has allowed us to focus on fixing the important bugs and working on features that we are sure you will enjoy!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

So, without further ado, let’s dive into what this update brings you!
New Content - Enemies
To make things more interesting, we’ve added three new enemies and one new boss.

You can see the three new enemies in the video below. We have intentionally left out the new boss as we don’t want to spoil everything from the get-go!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The details for all four upcoming enemies are:

 • New enemy: Flamefly - a giant butterfly that has wings of fire and spits lava.
 • New enemy: Alligator – a quick and dangerous humanoid alligator. Expect it to attack with everything at its disposal: biting with its powerful teeth, slashing with its razor-sharp claws, punching with its pure muscle power, lashing out with its tail, and even spitting a dangerous substance from its mouth.
 • New enemy: Armorsaur – a dinosaur-like homunculus that has thick armor. In previous wars, it was used as a living tank, which should give you an idea of what it will be like when you encounter it.

The new boss: Crystalis – a homunculus dragon with crystal claws and a unique ability to use multiple elements. Beware, for this is one of the most dangerous enemies that you will encounter.
New Regions
Adding in new enemies is always good, but what’s better is adding in new regions - and we’ve done just that!

Three new regions have been added to Alchemist Adventure:

Plains
Pepe returns in the plains with a new quest, and of course there are many interesting places to visit and puzzles to solve!

Geysers
An acidic lake, lava flows, and geysers. To some that may sound beautiful, but to most it will sound dangerous, and dangerous it is! This new challenging region even comes with its own Bell that you should really really not hit. What happens if you do? You’ll have to find out.

The Homunculi Factory
In the past, this region was home to the factory that produced the Homunculi. Now, though it retains some of its old uses, the area has changed. New challenges and elemental puzzles await you!

Here’s an updated map of the region for those of you that are following the game!
Alchemy Updates
And finally, we come to the updates to our alchemy system, introducing two new elements and an all-new flask!

Element - Water
Water is a new element used for potions, with it comes the huge amount of new combinations, but also interactions with other elements. Check out the image above to see what you can do with water.

Element - Earth
The second new element is Earth. Just like water, you can use it to create new types of potions, and also combine it with other elements to create something completely new. For example, mix fire and earth together to get lava!

New Flask
A new type of flask has been added to the game, which means that you will get a new type of potion/bomb effect to go with it! The name of the new effect is called The Barrier.

With a name like that, it should be quite easy to imagine how these new potions will work, right?

With that, we come to the end of this update announcement. Thank you to everyone who has been playing Alchemist Adventure so far and welcome to everyone who is joining us now!

This dinosaur creature certainly looks heavily armoured, but like everything in Alchemist Adventure, it has its elemental resistances and weaknesses.

Can you guess what resistances and weaknesses this creature will have?
Game Tips
For those of you that are playing the game already, have you found the Bells in the game yet? The first one should have a sign that says “Do not hit the Bell” but many people don’t listen to it.

Meet Felipe Costa the 3D Artist for Alchemist Adventure

We're back with another interview with the Alchemist Adventure team!

In our last interview, we spoke with Leo Batelli, the Creative Director and co-founder of Bad Minions (the studio behind Alchemist Adventure). That was a lot of fun, so we're now jumping over to the other co-founder of Bad Minions and the 3D artist for Alchemist Adventure - Felipe Cost!
Hello Felipe Costa, thank you for taking the time to talk with us. What were you doing just before we picked you up for this interview?
Unfortunately nothing that interesting, just paying my bills online. Though, this does mean that the rest of the interview can only get more interesting!
Don’t worry, I’m sure that things will become much more interesting as we dive into who you are and what you do! So to start, can you briefly introduce yourself? Who are you and what do you do for Alchemist Adventure?
So, my name is Felipe and I am a 3D Artist and co-founder of Bad Minions. In Alchemist Adventure, I am responsible for the environment modeling and visual effects, in addition to some things that need art.
Being a 3D artist sounds exciting, to be able to make models that come to life in varying situations is a dream for me! So, why not tell us what it is like to work as a 3D artist for Alchemist Adventure, and do you have any funny stories that you’d like to share from your time working as a 3D artist?
Working on Alchemist Adventure is like a child's dream for me. Since I was a child, I dreamt of being able to work with art and animation, so being part of such an incredible team at Bad Minions is a lifetime achievement.

Memories - well there are so many good memories, But I have one really cool one to share.
We were at the BIG Festival (São Paulo) in 2016 to present the initial project for Alchemist Adventure, and it was the first time that the entire team traveled together. We took a shared room, went to sleep after a tiring day. Leo was so tired that he started to snore making a noise that resembled a kettle and that made everyone in the room laugh out loud. Soon afterward they were all imitating Leo and we kept laughing to the point that some had to lock themselves in the bathroom so as not to make noise and wake the guests in the other rooms. Hahaha! It was really good! And really, that was a fantastic way to build a team - we all shared something unique and it helped us all to bond!
That's quite a unique team-building experience, definitely memorable!
To your job, we know that working as a 3D artist can be quite challenging, but we hear that your background is very different. So, compared to your previous position, what is the biggest difference to your current position with Alchemist Adventure.
Before working with Games, I worked in a Genetics laboratory that specialized in Molecular Biology, as I am a Biologist by graduation. Though, ultimately, I made the decision to drop everything to follow my biggest dream which was to work with art. But that was not an easy journey, in this period I spent more than a year without working and even returned to a Help Desk service job to keep me going. I ended up spending a long time in that place which gave me time to improve myself and go back to studying. In the end, that was time well spent as ultimately it let me do that which I actually dreamt of doing.

So, I can say with all certainty that working at Alchemist Adventure was not only the realization of a great dream but the satisfaction of being able to participate in the creation from the beginning of this wonderful Universe about Alchemy. It was the opportunity, and it continues to be, the way to show off all the internal creative capacities that I have and be able to share this with other creative and spectacular minds.
So Alchemist Adventure was a dream come true. How did you end up discovering Alchemist Adventure?
It all comes back to my interest in subjects related to the scientific area, such as chemistry and other fields.

When we created Bad Minions, Leo and I had the main objective to create a game that we would like to play, and one that would make us think either logically or philosophically.

After some time, we wanted to create a project that could encompass everything we like most in a game. I'm a FAN of "Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood", "Zelda", among others, so this was the opportunity to create a Universe that had a little bit of each reference that we acquired over time. Over time, and with the participation of the entire team in the creative process, Alchemist Adventure was born.
So just like with Leo, this is a passion project as well as being your job, that is truly a fantastic combination. Could you then tell us what your favorite thing is about Alchemist Adventure? Is there any reason why you like this feature in particular?
Certainly - and very easy as well! It is to be able to create my skills through potions in the game, to be able to create new mixtures and to know that that formula is only mine, to feel a little like an alchemist.
Wow, I can almost see the stars in your eyes as you said that. It might be short, but I think we can all feel the passion of your words!. Talking about gaming, what is your favorite gaming genre and platform, and what are you currently playing?
I love adventure and RPG games. But I'm currently only playing Fortnite, which I also stream. I try to mix gameplay and digital art techniques in my streaming.
You’ll have to share your Twitch channel at some point, we’d love to see how you play! Moving outside of gaming, what do you like to do when you’re not working?
Staying at home with my wife and my two kittens (Ron and Hermione). Watch Netflix or Amazon Prime and play with friends. Everyone needs to have downtime, and it’s best that it is different to what you normally do during the day!
Ah, kittens are always great, though for now, we’ve come to the end of our short chat. But, let’s give you this last question! Is there anything you want to share with our readers? Maybe a favorite game no one knows about, or something else?
Play Alchemist Adventure. It was done with great care and heart. I hope you enjoy it.

Alchemist Adventure Weekly News Blast - Early Access and Progress

Hello everyone,

We hope that you have been enjoying Alchemist Adventure, it has been a pleasure to see you all try out our early access and judging by the reviews - enjoy yourself as well!

Today we want to take the time to talk about what we have been doing in the game (development news) and what our plans are.
About the Early Access
First of all, we want to clear up a bit of confusion as to how our early access works. We are currently in the first phase of early access and that means that only the first chapter of the game is available. But don’t worry, if you buy the game now, you will receive all of the future chapters as we complete them.
Our Progress
Based on the feedback that we’ve received from our players so far, we’ve identified a few areas that we felt needed work.

The most interesting of which are the updates to the NPC animations. Though we liked our original model animation, we did understand the criticism that we received, and so got to work on improving the animation of the NPCs. Check out these two videos to see what we’ve done so far:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Of course, improving the animation was just part of the work we’ve done this week. On top of the animation, we’ve been working on improving the game UI, new VFX for the final boss, and putting together a video for the game credits.

We’re thinking of doing a short feature on the final boss and the VFX updates that we’ve recently completed, if that’s something that you like, be sure to let us know in the comments!

Finally, if you missed it, be sure to check out our interview with Leo Batelli the Creative Director for Alchemist Adventure!

We hope that you're all having a good weekend and we’ll see you soon,

Your Alchemist Adventure Team!
