Dev Diary #6

Hello folks!

It's been a while since the last update, 2 months already, I have been very busy working on the modern age. It is a big change requiring a lot of modifications to the existing code, 20 new human models and a lot of new buildings but it is almost ready for release!

[h3]Modern age[/h3]


As you can see this time the changes will be huge and you will be able to discover your world with a very different mood when the humans will finally start to build skyscrappers!



[h3]UFO[/h3]

Building is fun but a god's life can be boring sometimes and a bit of challenge is welcome so let me introduce UFO invasion.

UFO invasion is a new disaster that will happen from time to time. Mankind discovered the power of the atom and will start to encounter an alien specie. What wrong could happen?



[h3]Belgian Game Awards nomination[/h3]

I am glad to announce you that Deisim is nominee this year again for the Belgian Game Awards. The winners will be announced this friday! Wish me best luck!



[h3]When is the next update?[/h3]

I do my best to make it available early in march but there is a lot of changes under the hood so I will probably put it in the beta branch for 1 or 2 weeks to ensure the quality is good enough before sending it to all of you.

[h3]Roadmap Update[/h3]



As you can see I expect the game to be feature complete this summer and will then put a lof of effort to fix all the bugs and polish what's needs to be polished. The early access phase finishing it will be the time to rise the price of the game. The final price will probably be around 15$.

After almost 4 years in early access it will be time to release the game as a finished product.

[h3]But wait....there is more :[/h3]
During early access 2 big features have been asked to me a lot of time but are so big that they could be entire games.

The first one the ability to share worlds with your friends and having the ability to have an impact of their worlds. I have a lot of cool ideas of crazy stuff that you could do and will finally have the time to experiment them after the release.

The second one is the biggest one and could be a game by itself : Kingdoms.
I'm sure I don't need a lot of explanation for this one. I want it to be awesome and will take the time to do it right but I started working on it a long time ago.

It is not really a secret that I work on this game on my spare time and that despite my best effort I never succeed to sell it enough to start working on it at least part time. A lot of people are loving it though and played it a lot during theses years.

Update EA-1.19

Features
  • It is now possible to move the world vertically with the God locomotion
  • Added a god locomotion option in the menu to enable or disable 3d movement
  • Button A now also open the miracle menu


Balancing
  • Changed iron ore color
  • Changed copper ore color
  • Added a label to the need bubble
  • The need bubble now only display resources needed by the city to progress and not to fill it stocks


Bug fixes
  • Fxed iron gathering
  • Fixed christmas tree position to avoid collision with other trees
  • Event features are now disabled properly

Update EA-1.28 - Halloween

This is halloween! Enjoy your world like never before during this limited event.



What's new?


- Added a temporary halloween skybox
- Some towns are now decorated with pumpkins
- Swamps are now decorated with pumpkins and dead trees
- New temporary miracle "Fear"
- New halloween themed music

Bug fixes :

- Fix performance issues caused by the display of city names
- Fix swamp textures

Update EA-1.27 - City names!

What's new :


  • Cities now have a name
  • Added Swedish localization
  • Mountains surrounded by mountains are now bigger
  • New volcano model
  • New farm model


Bug fixes :
  • Humans should now collect iron ore properly
  • Prevent cities to break the world loading process by adding a new building during save loading
  • The need bubble will no longer display a question mark when coal is needed by the city
  • Cities now build close to the center and then expand
  • Humans models are now refreshed when a city evolve
  • Resources carried by the humans are now displayed properly when they are switching from low-fi to hi-fi models


Balancing :
  • Increased the size between cities
  • Allow a lower size between the first 3 cities
  • Increased raid distance
  • Increased resource search distance
  • Increased the size between cities
  • Increased the conversion speed
  • Slightly increased human walk speed
  • Reduce the cost of the multi terrain mode
  • Reduce the number of humans for every deity rank

Update EA-1.26 - Better skybox



What's new?


- Better Skybox
- New Asian buildings
- New Roman buildings
- Close the Miracles menu when the Menu is opened and Vice-Versa
- Added German localization
- Added Italian localization
- Added Spanish localization

Balancing

- Replace the fur model for a new one easier to understand.
- Changed the color of the need bubble.
- Increased rain radius from 10 to 15
- Reduced fire spreading radius from 5 to 3

Bug fixes

- Non-terrain miracles are not affected by the brush size anymore
- Tutorial is no longer broken when the heretic is converted to a priest
- Mana is not consumed anymore if the animal miracle is casted on an incompatible tile
- Fixed the ability to perform multiple miracles in a row

What's next?


I am currently in the design phase for a new Kingdom system. This is a feature that you are asking for a long time now and I think it is a good time to start to make it happen.

Current pending tasks can be viewed in the Trello board don't hesitate to put your vote on your favorites features and to comments about it. This list is sorted by number of vote every day and is the way to allow you all to drive the developpement of the game.



Oculus Quest version

If you own an Oculus Quest there is a free version of the game available on SideQuest this version is on par with the PC version and should be maintained for a while but there is no plans for long term maintenance since Oculus refused the game to it's store.

Don't hesitate to join the community on Discord to chat about this update or the future of the game.
