Containment Initiative 1.7 Released

Features:

New Weapon SMG5:

This new submachine gun can do some serious damage and has the fastest fire rate in the game. Unlike the previous SMG, this one can be held with two hands in order to improve accuracy. You can also lock the bolt back when reloading as shown below.

Repeatable Objectives:

I've heard lots of feedback regarding the fact that players want something to do once they complete the game. Now when completing the game, all of your objectives will be reset(Which leads to the next new features..).

New unlockable items:

Now when you complete enough objectives to unlock Bunker and then successfully complete the game, you will unlock one of four new unlockable items. They are as follows:

-Toxin Grenade: You get a new grenade on your shoulder which poisions zombies. They will slowly die once poisoned and can transmit the poison to other zombies.

-Lightweight boots: These will give you a 25% bonus to movement speed.

-Time Dilation Drug: This doubles the amount of slow motion time you get when it occurs.

-Medkit: This will allow you to heal yourself mid mission.

Unlock Choices:

Once you have completed the game four times and unlocked all the items, your objectives will continue to reset.

Major Weapon Audio Overhaul:

I thought that some of the weapon firing and loading sounds could be improved. Each weapon now has multiple firing sounds that it can emit. It really adds a lot more realism to the game. The new audio is professionally recorded and ended up being miles better than what was currently in the game.

Containment Initiative 1.65 Released

Tonight I'm releasing the 1.65 update for Containment Initiative. This update brings a new zombie type, structural multiplayer changes, and some quality of life features.

Features

Armored Zombie:

This zombie is a SWAT team member that got bitten and turned. His armor plating makes him a very tough target to take out. His body armor prevents you from knocking him back as well. In addition to the armor, some carry smoke grenades on their shoulders. If you accidentally hit the smoke grenade, it will set off and spray smoke everywhere(Which makes for a very stressful experience if you hear runners or mutants approaching!).

Online (VR/VR)Multiplayer Update:

I've thrown out the old multiplayer match structure in favor of a much more robust version. Before, you and a friend could hop into a map together and a round would last for 3 minutes. It was very short and not very challenging.

This new update lays the foundation that I'm going to expand upon in the future for online VR to VR multiplayer. It adds lots of challenge, leaderboards, and an extra map to play in.

Now you and a friend can hop into a map and try to last as long as you possibly can. There is a linear increase in challenge the longer you survive, and the new armored zombie adds significant challenge to the multiplayer. Leaderboards have also been added to all multiplayer maps, and the Tunnel map has been added to online multiplayer as well.

In testing, I'm seeing matches last around the 10 minute mark, which is about what I'm shooting for. The old iteration was much too short and without leaderboards, there really wasn't much of a reason to play.

This new structure for multiplayer is going to set the stage for bringing more maps(including the scavenge maps that I know everyone wants) and is going to allow me to introduce some online multiplayer only progression to the game in future updates.

Quality of Life Features:

Audio settings have now been added to the game to allow for master audio adjustment.

All items have had their colliders extended to aid in picking them up without your controller needing to be perfectly connected with them.

Lots of network optimization to support longer matches without disconnects.

Containment Initiative 1.63 Released

This is a smaller update that includes support for Steam's new Remote Play Together functionality.

Update Notes:

-Remote Play Together Support: You can now play the full game online with any player in your friends list that doesn't have VR. Simply boot up the game and invite them to play from your friends list. Your screen will be streamed and will allow them to control the PC player. Find out more here: https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/3032537193879549687)

-Difficulty scaling:This new difficulty scaling starts to kick in once certain thresholds are met during a mission. This is an effort to balance leaderboard scores and keep the game challenging at higher levels of play.

The Sawblade

Hunt down enough pumpkins in the game between October 28th and November 4th in order to unlock this weapon that will only be available this week. Once you unlock it, it's yours to keep permanently, even after the event is over.

Leaderboard Contest

The City:Night leaderboard is being temporarily replaced with a new leaderboard for this event. The top five scores on the City:Night leaderboard at the end of the event on November 4th at 12PM EST, will have their names permanently added to the games in a mid-November update. Gravestones will be added to the Checkpoint map which will include the winner's names written on them.

Please note that in order to keep the names on the graves thematic with the game, I will be asking the winner for at least a first name to put on the grave stone. You are more than welcome to submit someone else's name or even a pets name. I will reserve final approval over any submissions made by the five winners. Please join the game's Discord or message me on Steam and I can work with you if you are a winner and have any special name requests. I will attempt to contact winners through Steam if you have not joined the Discord. If no reply is received after a week, I will move to the next person on the leaderboard.

Update 1.62 introduces Steam Leaderboards into the game. Right now it's on two of the Survival maps due to them being among the hardest in the game. If you would prefer to see leaderboards added to other maps as well, please join the Discord to leave your feedback.
