KARDS - The WWII Card Game News

KARDS' Theaters of War expansion is pricey, but a great example of solo content for digital PVP card games

This summer has been a weirdly good time for abstract World War II card games. Early this month saw the release of the much-lauded deck builder Undaunted: North Africa as well as the announcement of the first expansion set for the series Undaunted: Reinforcements. The end of June also saw the release of Theaters of War, a set of single-player campaigns for KARDS - The WWII Card Game.

For the uninitiated, KARDS is a World War II-themed, free-to-play, digital card game from the relatively new indie development studio 1939 Games. It both looks and plays very much like Blizzard's smash-hit Hearthstone, albeit with a 1940s skin. Players have a steadily increasing currency to play cards onto the three-rowed battlefield, fighting for control of the middle row (the "front line") in order to attack and ultimately destroy the opposing player's HQ.

Despite these superficial similarities to Hearthstone, KARDS stands on its own as a well-constructed, fast-paced, almost painfully addicting card game based around a simple premise.

 • The Encyclopedia and Help Bubble texts have been edited and added to.
 • BLOCKADE now correctly worded.
 • Tweaks and changes to text, including campaign text, card descriptions and historical text.

 • Random card spawns in Battle now include Campaign cards.
 • Excess damage from OT-34 and ISU-152 that was redirected to HQs by URA! Is no longer getting doubled.

$1000 Officer Club Tournament

Hey Kards community!

With Season 15 coming to a close and the ladder resetting, it's time to get to know this month's Officer Club Championship participants playing for their share of the $1.000 prize pool. Read to the end for some other exciting news.
The Champions of Season 15
As always, the top 8 players on the ladder each season qualify for the Officer Club Championship, so let's congratulate the following players for their qualification:

 1. Jking7
 2. Darkness
 3. MerliniX
 4. RainZone77
 5. shadowtp
 6. AriBigBehn
 7. Blue_Blast
 8. Hubblebub
 9. 0CanadaBear0

Eagle-eyed readers might notice that there are 9 names instead of 8, and that's because Hubblebub and 0CanadaBear0 ended up tied on the ladder, both having 2826 points. Therefore, they will play a best of 3 series under tournament rules to determine who will take the 8th slot in the tournament.
Prizes and rules
The 1000$ prize pool will be split in the following way:

 • 1st place - 500$
 • 2nd place - 300$
 • 3rd place - 200$

This time around, players have to bring three decks from three different major nations, and once a player wins a match using a particular deck in a series, they can not bring that deck again until the following round. This means that to win the tournament, the winning player will have to win with each of their decks, making each player only as strong as their weakest deck, making for some exciting and entertaining matches!

The second-ever Officers Club Championship (OCC) will take place on the 18th of July at 15:00 - 22:00 UTC. Join us for all the action covered by community casters and experience a unique insight into the highest level of play in KARDS.
