ETL on sale this week, EQ2 progress report!
Good morning and happy weekend, all!
Something I should've really announced here on Monday but Equin: The Lantern is on sale this week for a whoppin' 75% off. The US price? $1.24! Wowee! So you could either buy a vente cappawhatever at Starbucks or grab a copy for yourself and 20 friends for the same price!

However now for the meat and potatoes.. more sequel information:

I really like how these look this time around. The graphical style is consistent with the first game, but I'm working to improve upon stuff where I can.
Unlike the first game, ghosts in EQ2 are now minor enemies that can spawn randomly from existing graves. You can also get one to sometimes appear by defiling those gravestones occasionally. Ghosts are small and relatively weak but they can pack a little whallop so avoiding them might be a better option until you're properly geared up.
What makes them unique though is they have the ability to pass through any wall or object, so they're harder to avoid.
No rabbit is safe!
A bridge too far..
There are little bridges that can spawn over rivers, like this one shown above. Not only do they act as blockades vs. water enemies they can also be fished on with your handy pole (not that one, you perv!) I feel that making it so you can't use your fishing pole just anywhere is the right choice, and also makes bridges more important. What kinds of things will you possibly fish up from the bottom??
Ironically the exit ladder was close enough for this screenshot.
As of just last night the compass item makes its return. Unlike the first game though this time you have to equip it in your off-hand (thus you can't wear a shield at the same time). Also new is it'll constantly display your X / Y co-ordinates in the upper left hand corner of the main screen as you walk around. As of right now it does NOT point you to where the exit ladder is, since I feel that might be too OP in this game. I will for sure revisit the idea and see if maybe a rarer version could exist that would perform both tasks of course.
A weapon that's been in all of these games since 2001, the Frost Siphon makes a triumphant return
Yeah so I'm kind of going super overboard with special weapons and powered up gear on this one. Like I promised before, if you get a unique item in this game IT WILL BE UNIQUE, DAMMIT. Take this Frost Siphon above, which acts as a slightly stronger sword however it features enemy HP drain on hit and a chance to freeze that enemy solid too. Many of the better items are similarly as powerful. And you can upgrade them up to 3 times too!
Finally I can report I'm pretty happy with how the soundtrack is turning out. Overall it was done over 2 mega sessions during my days off from my real job about a month or so apart. Tracks consist or drums, bass, lots of keyboards and only minimal guitar. I'm trying to do something different, and truth be told I do feel that it somehow fits with all of this pixely stuff.
---
Well those are the main things, there will of course be more info once I have it to share. I still wouldn't expect to see this anytime soon however rest assure I refuse to release crap and further contaminate the storefront alongside the likes of Hentai Generator 2000 and Dusting Simulator 4.
I'm not one to soak people using the guise of EA for years which unfortunately seems to be way too common nowadays up here. So when it's out, it's because I feel it's good enough to let other people play.
Have a good one!
