More Equin sequel news

Good day, rabbit fans!

Today I wanted to share some great news about the sequel: The first area (Temple) is now finished, and I've begun work on the 2nd area (Desert). How do a jungle swampland and arid desert exist side by side like this? That's video games for ya!

AREAS

Due to UNFORSEEN DIFFICULTIES I've re-imagined the game a bit on how it plays out. Now what happens is you'll have to tackle X amount of floors that have a specific theme, then get taken to a small "Sector Clear" screen, and then you'll head onto the next themed area. At the last floor of each area will be a boss enemy. You don't have to kill it in order to escape but if you do you'll get the possibility of better rewards from said "Sector Clear" screen.

These rewards range from permanent stat boosts to upgrade dust to rare and even unique items.

As you can see in this screenshot, I've tweaked the Temple area to have trees around the border. Also the game will randomly pick chunks of walls upon generation and replace them with different tree types. This gives the whole look of the thing a broken down and old-feeling, which is pretty cool.

Though I've just started the desert area I wanted you to see the new flying enemy, good ol' Buzzards! Aside from being able to y'know FLY they can also attack twice per round (though it's a low chance). They're actually kind of tough too:

Speaking of which, flying enemies can now also fly over trees as well as water (makes sense, eh?) This means they'll be harder for the player to avoid, so you're going to want to make use of brick walls and stuff for sure.

HEROIC CLASS GEAR

Also new are highly valuable Heroic items! In Equin: The Lantern these would fall under the special "Hero Gear" i.e. Orange nametag stuff. So far I have 7 of these in the sequel. Some of them are even the same items from the last game, hooray for continuity!

You'll know right away if you've found one too, as their name tag flashes green. Heroic Gear is so good you can't even upgrade it. THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS. Equin's Axe for example has great stats and grants an innate resist lightning effect that never fades:

BETTER SPECIALS SCREEN

I think I may have touched on this here before but the special effect screen looks pretty good too. From this you'll be able to see anything that's important to your character at a moment's glance. This counts for things like impaired vision, fire resistance, poisoning (and how many turns before it goes away), etc etc. Each effect is color-coded to help as well:

Well I believe that's enough for today, I'll keep working on it when I can of course!
