Deep Rock Galactic board game Kickstarter pulls in nearly $1 million in 1 day for a trio of new expansions

There's a term in tabletop gaming: "beer and pretzels." It's an epithet you'll find tacked on to any game best played with unserious intentions and inebriants aplenty. I've described Deep Rock Galactic to friends as a "beer and pretzels" sort of horde shooter, so I don't know why it never occurred to me that one of the best co-op games on Steam would also make a great party-friendly board game. It absolutely did from the looks of it, and three expansions are now inbound after publisher MOOD's Kickstarter for the addons secured full funding in all of five minutes...

The Deep Rock Galactic board game is getting three new expansions

Hello Miners,

Just a quick bulletin from the board game front: MOOD Publishing is releasing a new set of expansions to Deep Rock Galactic: The Board Game!

New depths, new horrors, and new rivals are coming to the tabletop edition, which is getting three new expansion packs this summer. You can expect new gameplay depth and replayability, plus a whole new range of miniatures – including more original creatures unique to the tabletop universe.

Here are the three new expansions in a nutshell:
 • Rival Incursion: The Rivals have made their way to the tabletop. Face off against Patrol Bots and Burst Turrets as you fight the Rival scourge, and take on the dreaded Caretaker in a board game boss fight.
 • Horrors of Hoxxes: Four familiar DRG biomes make their way to the board game, bringing their own environmental hazards and unfriendly wildlife – including the Dreadnought Arbalest and Lacerator twins.
 • The Shockwyrm: This mini expansion introduces an original creature, a formidable burrowing worm that attacks at close range with stunning electrical jabs. Stay on your guard, and don’t leave the insulated gloves at home.

MOOD's Kickstarter for this project has just gone live today. If you’re interested, you can check out (and back) the project here.

That’s all for now -- we’ll be back in a few weeks to kick off the 2025 Space Beach Party. Stay tuned. Rock and Stone!

We have fixed some issues with the modding update, biggest of which was an issue, where the mod list would not populate with your mods if a mod status was pending

With Love,
The Ghost Ship Crew

[/p]
--- PATCH NOTES —
[p]- Fixed that your sorting settings for viewing mods where not saved[/p][p]- Renamed mod browser buttons for clarity[/p][p]- Fixed an error when populating the mod list, which would result in an empty list if a mod was pending[/p][p]- Removed keyboard navigation from mod browser as it broke searching[/p][p]

PATCH NOTES - S05.10

[p][/p]
Hello Miners,
[p]
We have made some changes to how modding behaves in DRG, as well as updating the Mod.io API. We have moved Modding from the menu in the Spacerig to the start of the game on the info screen. The idea behind this was to reduce potential errors that could happen because of hot loading mods. We have kept the modding menu in the Spacerig, but as view-only so players can see what mods they have active, but no changes can be made on this menu except loading back to the info screen.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Since the Mod.io API has been updated, we now also have an ingame mod browser, as well as the option to use your preferred browser. The API update should also have several years of fixes for the plugin.[/p][p]

With Love,
The Ghost Ship Crew

[/p]
--- PATCH NOTES —
[p]- Updated modding behaviour[/p][p]- Added missing hit reactions on enemies[/p][p]- Fixed Glyphid forelegs not being blown off when killed by explosions[/p][p]- Increased visibility of Unknown Horror when in Medium and Low Effect Quality.[/p][p]- Added content for upcoming events[/p][p]- Updated game credits with latest translators[/p][p]

Loot bug plushies are finally coming!

Hello Miners,

It’s been quiet on the Deep Rock front lately. As you might know, our development team has been fully focused on Rogue Core (read the latest dev diary blog post here).

But we haven’t forgotten you. Our marketing team has joined forces with Heroic Replica to fulfill one of our most frequent fan requests: loot bug plushies.

Heroic Replicas, the official purveyor of Deep Rock Galactic merch, is gearing up to bring you a second batch of brand-new DRG goodies. A lovable lootbug and Steeve plushies are the headliners, but there’s plenty of other gold nuggets coming too!

This new merch wave also includes:
 • A plushie “Molly” M.U.L.E. (doubles as a four-can cooler)
 • Fuzzy dangling danger dice
 • Baseball caps and knit beanies
 • Foam stress balls (shaped as an Alien Egg, Gunk Seed, Barrel, and Loot Bug)

But wait, there’s more! Mark and Aaron are here to give you the goods:

All these new merch items will be available for pre-order in the Deep Rock Shop in August. But if you’re interested, you can already snag what you want at a delectable extra discount via the Heroic Replicas Kickstarter, which just launched today.

Down below is a full run-through of the new merch in handy image format -- we hope something strikes your fancy. Wishing all of you a lovely summer, and until next time!
