We hope your new year is off to a delightful start. We also hope that one of your 2024 resolutions was "consume more infographics," because that's exactly what we're here to share!

2023 was a terrific year for Deep Rock Galactic, and for the crew at Ghost Ship Games too. We decided to recap the year (as usual) by digging deep in the data mines, and pulling up the most exciting, interesting, exciting, and silly statistics we could find, to understand Deep Rock Galactic by the numbers.

If you've ever wondered about:

Great news: we fixed the hat!

To celebrate our nomination for the Steam Awards last month, we announced a sweet new hat: the Jagged Bugbasher! It was supposed to come out shortly after the initial blog post, but something about the hat made the whole game crash for anyone running older Ryzen CPUs.

After a bit of tinkering, we got the hat working now. We're not really sure why, or how, but it works.
So now you can grab it!

Pictured: An ancient helmet imbued with a strange and powerful aura. Legends say it contains the power to tear apart the very fabric of the world. Or at least to overheat a few CPUs.

All you've got to do is log in to Deep Rock Galactic before January 29th at 13:00 CET to claim it. It's not available for consoles quite yet, but we expect to have it out with the next patch, likely in the coming week.

Great! That's all sorted. Now to take a biiiiig sip of coffee, and check to see who won the 'Labor of Love' award!

Hello Miners,

We have Identified our pre-xmas crash to be related to older gen Ryzen CPU’s. We have attempted some fixes, but adding additional logging, just in case the fixes do not work.

Holy smokes – we made the finals!

We’ve officially been nominated for the 2023 Steam Awards in the ‘Labor of Love’ category.


We’d like to say a big huge thank you to everyone who nominated us. But whether you nominated or not, we’d just like to say thanks for playing Deep Rock Galactic, and for making it such a fun and welcoming experience to share together. Nobody here at Ghost Ship Games ever imagined our silly space dwarf game would grow to where it is today.

It’s your enthusiasm and support that pushes us to keep working on Deep Rock Galactic; both by developing this game and expanding the DRG universe with other projects. We’ve still got a big huge pile of ideas for this game, so you can trust we'll updating it for a long time to come.

[h3]A special hat celebration[/h3]

To celebrate our nomination, we've decided to give everyone a fancy hat! We'll release it early next year (more on that below)

Some years back, we released an exclusive hat during the Steam Awards, a cool viking helmet called the Bolted Marauder. People often ask whether we'd ever bring it back, and we've always said no.

But we never said we wouldn't release an even cooler version of it.

So, to celebrated DRG being nominated for the 2023 Steam Awards, we present to you: the Jagged Bugbasher.


You don’t need to vote for us to get this hat. In fact, we'll release it once voting is over, early next year. Why not release it now, you ask? We tried, we really did, but our build machines caught the Holiday flu, so we decided to let them rest up. Once we're all back and rested, we'll release the hat and celebrate the nomination (and hopefully, the Award).

On that note, if you do vote for us, we’ll be super happy. We’ll smile so big it wraps around our entire head. We’ll get up and do a little dance. We’ll hoot and holler “hoowee!” and high-five. Stuff like that.

Hope everybody’s enjoying the Yuletide 2023 event! Here at Ghost Ship Games we’ll be taking a break for the holidays, but we’ll be back in January. We’ve got loads more to share in 2024 and beyond. :)

Note: The Jagged Bugbasher will be released on all platforms, not just Steam. We'll get back to all of you with precise timing early next year.

Edit: A previous version of this post went live, saying the hat was out the same time as voting begun. That was a mistake, for some reason the update to this post were not published. We have updated it now, detailing that the hat will be released after New Year.

This hotfix rolls the current version back to Patch: S04.11 - See patch notes here.
We haven't been able to fix the crash we’ve been hunting for the last couple of days, so we decided to roll back to the last stable version.
Once we're back from the Holidays early next year, we'll fix this pesky crash.FINAL!
In the meantime, enjoy the Yuletide event! See you all in 2024, Miners.
