This patch includes the 2018 Legacy Edition (if you are wondering why the game doubled in size - that’s the reason), the return of the paper crow and Promoting a dwarf will now award the player with 1 Blank core, 1 Weapon Overclock core and 1 Cosmetic core, so get mining miners!

Please note that these Promotion changes are not retroactive, so you will not be rewarded for past promotions.

[h2]GUIDE: HOW TO ACCESS THE 2018 LEGACY EDITION[/h2]

For all of you excited to try out the early access version of DRG - Here’s a guide (with pictures) on how to access it :)

1. Go to your Steam Library
   
   
2. Select Deep Rock Galactic
   
   
3. Click big green ‘PLAY’ button
   
   
   
   
4. On the pop-up with ‘Launch Options’ select ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’
   
   
   
   
5. Click ‘Play’
   
   
6. Enjoy the blast from the past that is ✧ Deep Rock Galactic à la 2018 ✧

NOTE: You might need to restart Steam to make the ‘Play 2018 Legacy Edition’ show up on the list.

[h3]Those of you who have set the ‘Always use this option’ and therefore don’t get the pop-up[/h3]

1. Right click ‘Deep Rock Galactic’ in you Steam Library
   
   
2. Select 'Properties'
   
   
   
   
3. In 'General' click the 'Launch Options' drop down
   
   
   
   
4. Either directly select 'Play 2018 Legacy Edition' or .preferably, 'Ask when starting game'
   
   
   
   a. If you select 'ask when starting the game' you will get the UI in the second image in this post, where you can select 'Play Deep Rock Galactic' or '2018 Legacy Edition'
   
   b. If you select 'Play 2018 Legacy Edition' in the 'Properties' menu then you will have to repeat these steps but set it to 'Play Deep Rock Galactic' to be able to play “normal” Deep Rock Galactic.
   
   
5. Follow step 1-6 from the first part of the guide

We can hardly believe it, but it is the FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of DRG! This calls for a party, and Management has gone all-out this year. The celebrations will start on MARCH 2nd and ends MARCH 16th.


[h2]WELCOME TO THE PARTY
[/h2]The Space Rig has been decked out in style once more! Balloons and confetti and gilded plastic crap all over the place - everything valued corporate drones could want in a mandated company event. Have a good time - Management is specifically requesting it!

[h2]FREE BEERS
[/h2]It wouldn't be a party on Space Rig 17 without Lloyd disabling his Credit Inhibitor and serving up frothing mugs of ale for free - and this year is no exception! Head to the Abyss Bar and guzzle away - Company Policy directly states that all employees are required to drink responsibly, and we trust that nobody knows more about responsible drinking than our doughty dwarves.

[h2]DOUBLE PERFORMANCE POINT EVENT
[/h2]In preparation for the party, it appears that we have once more lost a shipment of party gear in a suspicious shuttle crash - and once more we'll be sending you in to deal with it! This time we're looking for big, golden YEAR FIVE TROPHIES - bring one back, and receive double the usual amount of Performance Points for that mission, earning you a fat boost on your Performance Pass each time you do!

[h2]ANNIVERSARY ASSIGNMENT
[/h2]There's of course also a unique PARTY HAT to acquire from this year's celebrations, and as usual Management has seen fit to make you work for it - stands to reason. Head to the Assignment Terminal right away and pick it up, and soon you will be partying in style! Do keep in mind that the Assignment is only available during the anniversary celebrations, so do not dally!

[h2]DRG LEGACY
[/h2]To further commemorate 5 years in orbit, we also are adding the option to play the original version of the game. That's right, you will be able to play DRG as it was when it originally launched in early 2018. Maybe you feel nostalgic and want to go back and experience those early days of glory. Or maybe you just want to appreciate everything that has been added since launch by actually seeing how different the game is today by comparison. Either way, grab some friends and mine like it is 2018!

[/h2]There's been a repeated question from many of you: how can you help support the game since all the content updates we have released since launch have been free. Misc fixes and anniversary prep: We finally added a toggle option for supporter beers so you can drink those original Glyphid Slammers. Also no more despawning beers with ‘Q’. Cheers!

- Fixed that clients were sometimes not able to see holiday assets in biotank
- Tweaked deep dive mission probabilities
- Fixed bug where c4 could cancel fall damage
- Fixed controller shortcut issue that made it possible to abort un-abortable Assignments
- Fixed being able to reset the weekly assignments by starting another and then restarting the original assignment
- Fixed completing the promotion assignment changing the completed week seed for the core hunt assignment
- Fixed bug where you could delete picked up items by pressing Q on the spacerig
- Tweaked Gunners Robot Rebellion Armor, left shoulder plate should no longer float
- Optimized pathfinder performance
- Optimized some smoke and Rockpox particles
- Fixed barrel hoop game sounds not playing for clients
- Made bosco able to carry all the in-cave holiday double xp items
- Changed "all barrels in launch bay" mission control shout to trigger 100% of the time
- Fixed a bunch of typos
- Added more breach effects to heartstone after final break

The Annual Anniversary Ghost Ship Games Live Stream is back for yet another year! Those of you who’ve been with Deep Rock during the past 5 years will be well aware of this exciting yearly event - but if you’ve just joined up during this past year, allow us to explain:

Each year during DRG’s anniversary we run a live stream session featuring the founders and key members of Ghost Ship Games, talking about the past, present, and future of the game. This year will be no exception, especially since this time we’ll be celebrating HALF A DECADE of co-op fun, lucrative mining, and fond memories - all made possible by the game itself, and not least of all YOU: The community.

The live stream will take place on Twitch (ghostship_games), Wednesday, March 1st, from 14.00 CET.

We’ll primarily be talking about Deep Rock Galactic, of course - but this time around, we won’t be stopping there: As some of you have heard, Ghost Ship is venturing into the brave new world of publishing! We’re doing this driven primarily by our excitement about game development and from a desire to help out other awesome games and developers make great games and get themselves properly established. During the stream, we will be revealing some of these awesome upcoming titles - we’re quite excited about this.
