[Private Beta] September Update



This update has been mostly about making the game prettier, namely vegetation, lighting and particles. I was deep in the hole for this one and there's many things that aren't on the changelog so you'll just have to try it out!

Features
-stages have real time ambient occlusion
-New trees, rocks, bushes and vegetation pass for all locations
-Swapped the vegetation shaders for ones that support instanced indirect, which is much faster than the previous way of rendering vegetation

Improvements
-improved gear ratios
-Group B, S, A have more even downforce between the front and rear wings which makes for more even jump flight and also less understeer when going high speeds
-redid the lighting for snow stages
-all strings are localized now
-readjusted braking power for all classes
-cars are using studded snow tires so increased the grip on snow a little bit
-nearly all the particles have been overhauled and now look much more consistent across all lighting and weather

Fixes
-manual & automatic were swapped
-weather effects that are attached to the car do not rotate with the car anymore (no more sideways rain)
-Photo mode works again
-Camera glitch between begin stage and racing
-quality & vegetation density settings were only being set with a quality setting was changed
-when coming onto the throttle the turbo blow-off sfx is stopped if it is currently playing

[Private Beta] Late August Update



Large-ish Update. Localization and cleaning up UI and menus. The savegame file format has changed so all your settings will be reset.

Features
-added an anti-cheat plugin for times and damage
-the car used for custom events and career are now displayed in the rally complete screen & season complete screen
-the car used for an in-progress career is shown in the main menu, if no season in-progress then a random car is chosen
-added a kids cheering sound effect when you unlock a car
-converted the Save file to use JSON instead of XML, which is faster to load/save and fixes some issues where editing values in xml files would cause them not to load.
-Game saves in SaveGame.json now, which means the settings and unlocks have been reset, sorry!
-everything in the game except for country names should have localization now, please tell me if you see something amiss!

Improvements
-Car at start line has the handbrake on to prevent rollback
-surrounded the rally school with hills/mountains which will serve as more believable end of the map obstacles
-all settings have correct default values now
-car odometers are shown without decimal places
-loading screen displays stage info in all lowercase and distances with only 1 decimal point
-unlocked cars don't use a black shader if they are unlocked
-Added correct light materials to cars in main menu

Fixes
-gear shifting actually fixed hopefully
-removed rock on road in Japan1
-recalculated the waypoints for out of bounds for Sardinia and Norway
-removed rocks on road in norway 1
-rocks on finland 3 on road
-retiring from season in pause screen works again
-pause screen: # of restarts left are updated in career
-Made a hack so that the Replay SFX mostly work.
-restarts should work after finihsing a stage now. (this was a bug that only happened in builds)
-bridge on Finland 4 is drivable again
-fixed weird bridges on sardinia 5
-completing a season after the car unlocking screen doesn't freeze anymore
-quick restart shortcut works correctly now
-when choosing a car class in custom event, freeroam and rally school, the 1st from that class is shown, instead of all the cars on top of each other
-fixed missing colliders for some Finland houses

[Private Beta] Early August Update



This fresh build has quality of life improvements, controls changes, and... CAMERA SHAKE!!

Features
-shift-stacking. Now you can go through gears a lot quicker without having to shift individually into each
-quick restarts. Restarting is immediate, no more reloading the stage. Let me know if you encounter any issues
-added a setting to cap the framerate
-added camera shake. Shakes when hitting stuff, landing jumps, shifting gears.
-added camera shake setting
-all default AI times are now based off of 10 minutes/stage instead of the minutes before. Working on updating these times as you guys play more of the stages.

Improvements
-blocked logs in chicane cut on Finland 1
-cars in main menu have wheels pointed straight
-tweaked logging truck controls to be less floaty
-group 2 4th gear is a little longer
-Drivetrains now deliver power for each of the AWD, FWD, RWD drivetrains.
-closed off corner cuts reported by players
-camera fov and pitch increase with speed. Tried to go on the subtle side
-made some small optimizations to scripts. Maybe saved 0.02s off the cpu update time
-Reduced differential a little for all cars, less overcorrection behaviour
-Fixed the waypoing generation for all stages, since the soemthing had changed in the road plugin
-Improved waypoint generation logic: Waypoints in intersections are placed in-between the last and first waypoints of the road in the connection so there's less weird resets
-made dead tree colliders taller in Finland stages
-changed the way the vegetation masks are generated for roads which ensures that there will be no more grass on the roads anymore
-trying to go out of the map in Rally School & free roam will get you shot back to the centre of the map, Motorcross Madnesss style

Fixes
-locked cars played in say Daily challenge don't have the black shader anymore
-fixed tree colliders in norway
-time chaser menu: only refreshes leaderboards every time you change between dry weather and wet weather
-added missing waypoints for recovering car to Sardinia 2
-comparing leaderboard times is now correct due to casting both times to int in milliseconds
-wind is the same strength in all stages now (it was very strong before)
-damage is now reset between time chaser stages when using the same car
-Sardinia 4 road no longer overlays terrain badly @Deliverator
-The 504, 2002, t22 cars have a bit more ground clearance now @Raymi
-fixing missing cones and fences in rally school
-damage to car should be repaired between rally events in career now

[Private Beta] July Update

Going to start posting the changelog for updates here. This is a large update since the last one in May.

Features
-added a camera rotation damping setting to the graphics settings screen. Default damping is slightly less than before, but feels good.
-added debug text in stages that shows the car, stage, and game mode.
-FPS counter is back. It's off by default, enable with "backspace"
-10 AI drivers in custom events & career now
-leaderboards show 10 entries instead of 8
-in career mode, drivers are awarded points by ranking in rallies, which are used to calculate the overall season standings.
-Rally Complete and Season Complete screens have been overhauled
-added Ambient Occlusion to many of the cars
-main menu car dioramas update the environment to reflect the settings in the game mode
-added stats to cars: odometer, podiums, events
-cars may be unlocked after completing a season, but only if there are restarts remaining
-new car unlocking animation
-season complete animation is moved to the Season dashboard
-Added the Group A car class (placeholder cars for now)
-Added Group A to career
-Locked cars in the car chooser are now obscured
-credits screen
-Added new horn sfx.
-Horn SFX can be selected and previewed in Settings->Gameplay
-Added new ambient SFX for all locations for dry and wet weather.
-Added new turbo sfx to all cars.
-added sfx for buddha appearing in introduction
-added controller controls in intro, need to animate them.
-in the introduction in rally school, a notification is displayed after a few minutes to remind you that you can go to the main menu for more game modes
-Set language to use the language chosen for the game in the steam client
-bonus cars are unlockable in career
-bonus cars have setup files now
-group A anti-lag sfx

Improvements
-added vignette and better post-processing to menu camera
-Stage UI: stage info sticks around for all screens when in a stage (stage #, area, stage name, weather)
-Stage UI: post-stage screen displays the stage time and personal best time
-decreased the shadows distance 50% in the lowest quality setting
-updated & centered logo in loading screen
-driver points are displayed in the season standings screen
-changed the number of stages/rally in the Group S season from 10 to 8
-initial restarts for all Seasons in career are now 40
-replay data isn't uploaded to leaderboard, which should mean quicker uploads and downloads, but may not be noticable
-made japan roads skinnier
-lowered the grass density for finland and sardinia stages.
-changed the terrain shader for some finland and sardinia stages and it makes the grass blend in better
-reordered the default liveries for all cars
-Rally school: cones and tires reset every 2 minutes
-Rally school: Fade screen in->out when switching rally school lessons in rally school.
-No punctures or damage in free-roam or rally school anymore
-reduced turning assist on group 4+ cars
-collisions/scraping on the ground won't case damage or remove car parts
-improved the tire puncture icon
-Tweaked the downforce between car classes. Group B, S, A have double the downforce from before. This lessens the wheelspin when going around corners which was allowing Group 3 & 4 cars to set similar times to Group B+
-Increased downforce of Group 4 cars
-front wing produces 70-80% of the force of the rear wing for flatter jump takeoffs
-tweaked mist when sliding on tarmac to be less white and more transparent
-Increase grass/plant/rock distance on all quality settings.
-10x the sparks when hitting stuff
-Menu: cars are shown with the last livery instead of first
-localized the repairs screen buttons

Fixes
-black image in custom-event menu
-menu: camera zooms in on car chooser now
-exiting time chaser won't reset the car class when coming back to it again
-moved the SR71 car from Group S to Group B class
-in Esc Menu, to enter the Rally School item, you first need to go down to Settings and then Up to be able to select it
-When entering the photo mode for first time, the help prompt in the left down corner didn't pop up. Id did after seccond try. Also, during the first try, the camera didn't move to the position of the seccond try (that assume is the correct one, front of the car)
-Fixed a bug when changing the fullscreen settings wasn't calling SetFullScreen after being changed.
-control remapping screen shows correct text and also has localization for all languages
-Rally school: timer in hud is now hidden
-changed the .exe file to be artofrally.exe
-repairs screen works again
