ATOM RPG: Trudograd - New Ability Tree and Weapon Modifications

Greetings, friends!

It’s finally time to share some more news about the development of ATOM RPG: Trudograd. This time, we will have two distinct topics: skill tree and weapon mods.

Skill tree

Ever since the release of our first game, we listened to your advice on the ways ATOM RPG’s Skill Tree could grow into something bigger and better. This is the result of all that feedback, plus many improvements of our own.

Unlike our previous skill tree, this one is segmented into categories, and has much more skills for every type of play. You won’t have to pick something you don’t want, just to get to something you do want to learn, anymore. At least, that’s what we’re going for.

Icons, names, and even skill balancing are still works in progress, but the concept itself is final.

The skill point system has also changed. Before, each new skill was 1 point more expensive than the previous, and this was critiqued by you a lot. Now all skills are distributed amongst four price tiers. All starting skills have the price of 1 point, and the most powerful ones - 4.

Weapon mods

The need for a weapons mod system was seen by us even at the time ATOM RPG first came out, but introducing it back then would’ve required too much time and resources. Now, in Trudograd, we are finally able to do it!

Every single piece of weaponry in Trudograd has some modification slots, which can be filled with all manner of mods. This will help you create weapons, fit for your playstyles and character roles.

However, all good things come at a price. In ATOM RPG: Trudograd, weapon modifications will have pros as well as cons, like higher skill reqs.

Currently, the weapon mod system’s visuals and some stats are a work in progress, but we basically figured out the base balancing mechanics already.

We thank you for the time spent reading this dev update, and we would like to use this opportunity to remind you: stay safe, stay healthy, do all that is recommended to avoid and combat the COVID-19 infection.

We promise more dev updates soon!

Oh, and as always, let there be ATOM!

1.112

Hey, guys!

Today, we're releasing version 1.112. We are doing this because we moved our game to the brand new, improved Unity version 2019.2 which fixes a lot of problems some of you may have experienced in the past, and furthers our game's optimization.

However, since it's a very large file, we understand that those of you that do not have optimization issues and glitches described in the changelog, may not want to download it. For you, we have created a new Steam branch 1_11 which will allow you to skip this version and continue playing 1.111.

Here is the changelog:
  • Transferred the game to Unity 2019.2;
  • Fixed impassable tiles in Krasnoznamenny Centre;
  • Fixed incorrect AP and Ammo information;
  • Fixed Dzhulbars barking glitch;
  • Fixed the Ghillie suit and protective suit exploit which granted an extra turn;
  • Those who saved at the New Year location will now appear in the Mountain Pass of Woes;
  • Fixed several graphical bugs.

For Mac OS users:
Unfortunately, Unity updated the requirement for their minimal version of Mac OS for 2019.2. Now it's macOS 10.12+. We ask you to update the system or move to the branch 1_11.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd dev update #2

Hello, friends!

It’s time to do good on our New Year’s promise and share some more news about ATOM RPG: Trudograd.

We’ll start with information on new developments in the field of exoskeleton research! We perfected our walking tank visually, and made it capable of attacking enemies in melee combat! Here’s how it looks at the moment:

WIP

However the combat system improvements do not end with the exoskeleton. We also made a special skill that will allow you to attack your enemies with the buttstock of your weapon, along with new weapon mods that will be discussed in a later post.

WIP

Since we have updated many combat-related stuff in the game, we decided to change the look of the inventory as well. Here’s how it will look during your travels in Trudograd. Something akin to this style was suggested by some of our players. We hope you like it!

WIP

Now we’d like to show you the changes we made to in-game menus such as the minimap, stats or skill tree. Here’s our new menu system!

WIP

This new menu system is highly optimized for comfort and style. We really hope you will enjoy it!

Last but not least - some in-game art. Here’s a loading screen we particularly enjoy.

Work on Trudograd is constant. Next time we will share some new location screenshots and news about weapons and combat in general, as well as many other new stuff.

ATOM RPG: Trudograd will be released for closed testing on February 29th.

Thank you for reading and we really hope that you liked what we shared. See you next time! And let there be ATOM!

Winter Holiday Event & Sale

Hello, friends!

Soon, this year will end. And what a great year it was! We spent it together, perfecting ATOM through your suggestions and observations. The game became larger, much more polished and user friendly. It’s all thanks to you.

We want to close this wonderful year just like we spent it. That means posting another pack of bugfixes (see changelog below) and a little something for those of you who liked our previous in-game events. This time it’s a winter-themed one, where you will set out into the inhospitable Mountain Pass of Woes to eradicate a tribe of malformed, mutated snowmen for a chance to get new items including two fun little weapons and some hats.

As always, if in-game events aren’t your thing and you want to keep your game well away from such light-hearted additions, you can simply turn off the festive content with a single mouse click in the menu as shown below.

Thank you for a year of helpful feedback. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Let all of your wishes come true! As for us, we have only one wish: Let there be ATOM!
