Dutch Cruisers: Part 1
Dutch Cruisers: Part 1 is an event for Update 0.10.6. Dutch Tier IV–IX cruisers—the main feature of the event—will become available in Early Access with the release of Update 0.10.6! While you'll have to wait until the new update is released before you can actually take them into battle, you can take part in testing the event itself beforehand. Read our special article to learn more details about the Public Test.

[expand] [/expand]
The new Dutch cruisers can't be obtained on the Public Test server.
Features of the branch
• Good concealment and maneuverability but a short firing range.
  • The Hydroacoustic Search, Fighter, and Spotting Aircraft consumables are available from Tier IV.
  • Fighter and Spotting Aircraft are not available for VIII Haarlem or X Gouden Leeuw.
  • An enhanced version of the Repair Party consumable and Defensive AA Fire are available from Tier VIII.
  • At higher tiers, the new cruisers have good armor that provides decent protection against HE shells.
  • Tier VIII–X cruisers carry main battery guns with the following calibers:
    • VIII Haarlem—203 mm
    • IX Johan de Witt—240 mm
    • X Gouden Leeuw—283 mm
  • The new Airstrike consumable is available from Tier VI.
Airstrike
Airstrike is a new type of armament that's set to make its first appearance on Dutch cruisers in World of Warships. It was created based on the low altitude bombing principle that was actually used in battle. Bombs dropped from aircraft in this manner had drogue parachutes.

The squadron, which has an operating distance of 10 to 13 km, bombards the specified target with HE bombs that fall for an extended period of time. At the same time, the aircraft cannot spot enemies and cannot be directly controlled.
Early Access
Rewards for Dutch Tokens: sequentially available bundles with Tier IV, VI, and VIII Dutch cruisers; permanent camouflages for VII Eendracht, VIII Haarlem, IX Johan de Witt, and X Gouden Leeuw; and more desirable items.

By completing combat mission groups, you can earn enough Tokens to obtain Dutch Tier IV and VI cruisers, as well as the Royal Netherlands Navy permanent camouflage for the Tier VII cruiser.
A new type of combat mission is going to be introduced in Update 0.10.6. After completing these missions, you can choose one of two rewards. If you don't choose a reward and the mission expires, you'll automatically receive the first reward.

The most important and high-priority missions are now highlighted in the combat mission interface. Combat mission chains are displayed first.

Armada: Tone
History
Tone—named after a river on Honshu island—was the lead ship of a two-cruiser series. The ships of this class were based on the Mogami project, but Tone was eventually built under a modified design. The four twin-gun turrets that comprised her main battery were mounted on the ship's bow. This arrangement improved her seaworthiness and made some room for torpedo tubes and extensive aircraft equipment.

Heavy cruiser Tone was laid down in Nagasaki in 1934 and commissioned in 1938. In late 1941, the cruiser participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor along with her sister ship, Chikuma. Together with a carrier-based squadron, Tone also carried out a raid on Port Darwin, Australia. During this raid, 30 enemy aircraft and 11 enemy ships were destroyed.

In 1942, the heavy cruiser carried out raids in the Indian Ocean and participated in the Battle of Midway. In the early stages of this decisive engagement, it was precisely the crew of one of Tone's floatplanes that first spotted the American fleet. While the cruiser didn't take any damage in the battle near Midway Atoll, she did lose one aircraft that went down with its crew. Tone also engaged in combat actions near the Santa Cruz Islands later that year.

In October 1944, Tone fought in the Battle of Leyte Gulf as part of the First Mobile Striking Force. She suffered damage after being struck by three bombs during the course of the battle. The ship was heavily damaged during an American air raid on Kure in 1945, causing her to partially sink. In 1948, what was left of Tone was recovered and scrapped.
Modeling the Ship
In World of Warships, Tone resides at Tier VIII. She's equipped with long-range torpedo armament that can deal solid damage, has decent armor protection for a cruiser, and good concealment. Additionally, she has access to a squadron of torpedo bombers, making Tone the first hybrid cruiser to enter World of Warships.

Grand Battle

Update 0.10.5 brings a new temporary battle type—the "Grand Battle." Its unique feature is the super battleships it allows you to helm.

The destruction of legendary battleship Yamato by aircraft carriers presaged the domination of deck aviation in naval warfare. Super battleships are the ships that might have existed if shipbuilding had moved toward the development of main batteries as the primary decisive factor of battle.
Things You Should Know
Two super battleships will be available to you in the Grand Battle:
  • Satsuma is a project based on X Yamato with reinforced primary armament—510 mm guns in four twin-gun turrets.
  • Hannover is a version of the H-42 project with 483 mm guns in four twin-gun turrets and her secondary battery replaced with dual-purpose artillery with a caliber of 128 mm.
Rules
Timing: from 11:00 to 02:00 CEST (UTC+2).

You can take part in the Grand Battle only during the time period specified for your server.

Battle format: 9 vs. 9, playing Tier IX–X ships (including super battleships)

Restrictions: no more than three super battleships per team
  • Every battle will feature at least one super battleship per team.
  • If the waiting time spent by the first player in the queue exceeds 3 minutes, the teams in the Grand Battle can be complemented with bots.
  • All players who have reached Access Level 12 can participate in the Grand Battle.
How to Take the Super Battleships Into Battle
Once Update 0.10.5 is live, you will receive Satsuma and Hannover as rental ships.

To enter a battle at one of their helms, you will need a new temporary resource—Intelligence Reports. This way, you will both play super battleships and play against them. It will also help the matchmaker assemble teams for battles faster.

There are several ways to earn Intelligence Reports:
  • You can earn 3 Intelligence Reports per Grand Battle playing Tier IX and X ships. Active players will receive them regardless of a victory or defeat. However, you won't get any Reports if you're inactive in battle.
  • After the release of Update 0.10.5, you'll get Intelligence Reports each day on your first login—19 Reports the first time, then 3 Reports daily.

You'll need 14 Reports to take a super battleship into battle. It means that you'll have enough Reports to take one of the super battleships into battle as soon as the update releases. Satsuma and Hannover themselves don't earn any Intelligence Reports from battles.

Please note that the number of Intelligence Reports you can earn in a battle, as well as the number of Reports that's necessary to play a super battleship, might change.
Adjustment Fire
When playing the super battleships, you can try a new game mechanic—adjustment fire. It grants a temporary boost to the super battleships' characteristics in battle. Satsuma receives a bonus to the accuracy of her main battery; Hannover receives a bonus to the range, accuracy, and reload time of her secondary battery.
  • To activate the bonuses, you need to fill a special meter by carrying out adjustment fire at any locked target. Each turret salvo that hits a target or splashes near it is taken into account.
  • As soon as the meter fills, the temporary bonus activates automatically. You can use it an unlimited number of times in a battle.
  • If your ship ceases firing for a certain amount of time, the progress of the adjustment fire meter gradually resets. It doesn't reset while the bonus is active.

The new mechanic allows you to reinforce your ship right in the heat of battle, but you'll need to plan your actions and positioning in advance to use this feature to maximum effect. We hope that it will make the gameplay more interesting and diverse!
Combat Missions and Rewards
With the release of Update 0.10.5, special combat missions will become available. Completing them will reward you with Dazzling expendable camouflages, the Grand Battle patch, and the Grand Battle commemorative flag.
Starts: Wed. 16 Jun. 07:00 CEST (UTC+2) Ends: Wed. 14 Jul. 07:00 CEST (UTC+2)
Detailed information about the mission completion criteria can be found in the game client.

Your successes in the Grand Battle will be rewarded with special themed achievements.
