Big Hunt: the Raid Begins

Update 0.10.2 brings a new temporary battle type—Big Hunt. Demonstrate your skills in a futuristic exhibition competition by assuming command over ships representing three different corporations!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Things You Should Know
A new temporary battle type—Big Hunt—will be available to players in Update 0.10.2. It's a revamped version of the Key Battle mode from Update 0.9.10. Team up, fight, earn Battle Points, and exchange them for rewards in the Armory.

The new battle type pits 16 players against each other and AI-controlled monsters on a gigantic Polygon map.
  • Your main objective is to exit the Polygon via the Portal located at the center of the map. Be cautious—the Portal only opens up after a certain amount of time.
  • You start out alone, but you can form teams directly in battle.
  • It's now possible to enter battle as part of a Division, but each player in the Division still starts the battle alone. In order to coordinate their efforts, Division mates will first need to locate each other on the map and create a team.
  • The Big Hunt ends when all surviving players exit through the Portal, or when the battle time expires.

[expand] [/expand]
A temporary resource—Battle Points—will be issued to players for destroying monsters and other players.
  • Having accrued a certain number of Battle Points, you can upgrade your ship directly in battle.
  • Specifically for the Big Hunt, we've added a new AI boss ship called Aurora. Defeating her will not be an easy task, but doing so will bring a huge amount of Battle Points to the team that sinks her.
  • The Battle Points you receive aren't lost or spent in battle when you apply upgrades. You’ll keep the points you earned regardless of what happens, and you can exchange them for rewards in the Armory.
  • Successfully exiting the Polygon will double the amount of Battle Points you earn.

Each of the six available ships offers a wide variety of modules that can have a significant impact on gameplay.
The Big Hunt's difficulty will intensify each week—the time it takes for the Portal to open and the monsters' HP and damage (as well as the amount of Battle Points earned by destroying them!) will increase. The maximum size of teams will also increase—from three players in the first week, to six players in the fourth week.
Tips
• Try different combinations of modules and armaments—assemble a ship that's to your liking! Don't be afraid to experiment—you need to act unpredictably in the Polygon.
  • Try to assemble a team of your own or join one with other players. By fighting together with your allies, you'll increase your chances of escaping via the Portal.
  • Destroy the first monsters you encounter and upgrade your ship as quickly as possible. This will give you an advantage in the following engagements.
  • As you get closer to the center of the map, the monsters will become increasingly dangerous, but you'll also earn more Battle Points for destroying them.
  • Keep an eye on Aurora's arrival timer so that you can be in the right place and combat ready when she finally arrives. Defeating the boss ship will bring you and your team the most Battle Points.
Rewards
Earned Battle Points can be spent in the Armory to purchase three types of random bundles that include, among other things, a special temporary resource— Corporation Tokens.

Corporation Tokens can be exchanged for themed permanent camouflages for VIII Akizuki, VIII Amagi, and VIII Öland (5 Tokens each), or for Credits.

[expand] [/expand]
Apart from that, you can exchange Doubloons, Credits, and Free XP for bundles with Corporation Tokens and Coal in the Armory.
Corporation Tokens can be exchanged for rewards in the Armory until the end of Update 0.10.3. After that, they will be exchanged for Credits at the rate of 1 Corporation Token : 1,500,000 Credits. Battle Points can be exchanged for rewards in the Armory until the end of Update 0.10.2. After the end of the event, they will be exchanged for Credits at the rate of 1 Battle Point : 75 Credits.

Outstanding successes in the Big Hunt will be rewarded with special themed achievements.
Berserk — destroy 10 ships or monsters.
There's Always a Way Out! — exit through the Portal in the Raid game mode.
Engineer of the Future — research all ships and modules in the Big Hunt event.
Breaking the Eighth Wall — visit the place of your past battles.
Giant Slayer — destroy Aurora in the Raid game mode.
Big Hunt Rules
To access the Big Hunt, you must have fought at least 21 battles in the available battle types.

All 16 players begin each battle on the Polygon map alone, facing other players and AI-controlled monsters.

But you don't have to fight alone—you can assemble a team directly in battle. To invite a player to your team, aim at them and press F. When you receive an invitation, the top of the screen displays who sent the invitation and how to accept or decline it.
You can also enter the Big Hunt in a Division. However, you still start the battle alone and need to locate each other on the map in order to team up. The possibility to place markers on the Minimap has been added. These markers will be visible to all team members and will help you coordinate your actions.

[expand] [/expand]
The main objective of the Big Hunt is to gather as many Battle Points as possible and exit the Polygon via the Portal. It's closed at the beginning of a battle and you'll only be able to enter it some time after the battle starts.

The Big Hunt ends when all surviving players exit via the Portal, or when the battle time expires. For this reason, it's better not to stay too long in the Polygon—the Portal won't stay open forever and, as the battle nears its end, AI-controlled ships of the Terra Corporation will start hunting down any remaining players.
Battle Points
You can earn Battle Points by destroying monsters and other players' ships. Aurora, the new boss ship created by the Terra Corporation, will bring you the most points. Be careful though, vanquishing Aurora and her escorts will not be easy, even with a team.

Having accrued enough Battle Points, you can reinforce your ship directly in battle. To select one of the two improvements, use Ctrl+1 and Ctrl+2, or Ctrl + on the preferred improvement. You don't spend any Battle Points in the process of improving your ship, so make sure to reinforce your ship as soon as you're able! Any Points you earn can be exchanged for rewards in the Armory after the battle.

While you're part of the same team, you can't deal damage to your allies, and all earned Points are divided equally.

By exiting via the Portal, you'll double your earned Battle Points. If you don't escape the Polygon, you'll still get any Battle Points you've accrued in battle. In total, you can earn up to 10,000 Battle Points in a single battle.
Combat Missions
Battle Points can also be earned by completing special combat missions that are updated weekly. Moreover, players will have access to a daily combat mission that also brings Battle Points.

Apart from that, another special combat mission will require you to deal damage to enemies in the Big Hunt. The reward for completing it comes in the form of XP that will be counted towards the daily container progress. This mission can be completed an unlimited number of times. Once the event is over, any XP earned while playing the special ships will be transferred to Tier I cruiser Orlan.

More details about the combat missions will be available in the game client when the Update has gone live.
Ships and Armaments
In total, six special ships for the Big Hunt will be available in Update 0.10.2. Each ship has access to a wide variety of modules that can have a significant impact on gameplay and your ship’s appearance.

Ships IX Valkyrie, IX Gale, and IX Heracles, which are probably familiar to you from the Key Battle, will be available in your Port immediately with all of their modules researched. Three powerful new ships—X Hector, X Avenger, and X Whirlwind—will be unlocked once you complete corresponding combat mission chains.

[expand] [/expand]
In addition to the new ships, completing combat missions will also unlock new hull modules, primary and auxiliary armaments, and a special module that changes the ship's consumables.

More details about ships and armaments will be available in the game client when the Update has gone live.
Commander skills, camouflages, and signals are disabled in the Big Hunt.
Avenger
Her well-armored hull reliably protects her against enemy torpedoes, while she can be additionally equipped with large-caliber mortars that have a colossal damage radius.

[expand] [/expand]
To obtain X Avenger, you need to complete a special combat mission playing IX Valkyrie.
Hector
X Hector is the first ship to be capable of diving underwater temporarily. Thanks to this feature, she can quickly escape enemy fire by submerging, then suddenly resurface directly behind the enemy with her deadly laser weapon charged and ready to fire.

[expand] [/expand]
To obtain X Hector, you need to complete a special combat mission playing IX Heracles.
Whirlwind
X Whirlwind is fast and has access to a wide selection of torpedo armament. Moreover, once you install a special module, she'll be able to restore her own HP by inflicting damage to enemies.

[expand] [/expand]
To obtain X Whirlwind, you need to complete a special combat mission playing IX Gale.
Italian Battleships: Part 2
With Update 0.10.2, Italian battleships continue to shine bright in the dedicated event that takes center stage!
Features of the Ship Branch
• Semi-armor-piercing shells instead of HE shells. These shells can deal significant damage to weakly and moderately protected targets and vulnerable ship parts, but do not cause fires.
  • A large number of guns with relatively short firing ranges and not the greatest accuracy.
  • Decent maneuverability and armor protection.
  • Tier VIII–X ships have access to the Exhaust Smoke Generator consumable, which allows them to sneak away from enemies without having to reduce speed. However, shooting from within a smoke screen while retreating isn't recommended—battleships have high detectability when firing their main battery guns from within smoke.
Early Access
Italian battleships of Tiers IV–VI, as well as the Tier VIII and IX Italian battleships that hit the seas in Early Access with the release of Update 0.10.1, continue to be available in sequential and random bundles in the Armory.

In Update 0.10.2, Italian Tokens will only be obtainable from random bundles available for Doubloons in the Armory. Players can spend Italian Tokens until the end of Update 0.10.2. After Update 0.10.3 goes live, all Italian Tokens will be converted into Credits at the rate of 1:2,250.
When Update 0.10.3 goes live, Italian Tier IV–X battleships will be available for all players to research.
Combat Mission Group Rewards
Italian Battleships containers, signals, Credits, and the Legion permanent camouflage for IX Marco Polo.

If you already own the Legion permanent camouflage for IX Marco Polo, you will receive compensation in the form of 6,000 Doubloons.

An Italian Battleships container may drop one of the following Premium ships: VI Leone, VII Duca degli Abruzzi, VIII Roma, or IX Marco Polo, as well as special signals, Free XP, Regia Marina expendable camouflages, days of Warships Premium Account, and Doubloons.
Free Bundles
The Armory is offering free random bundles. Inside, you can find Italian Battleships containers, 1 day of Premium Account, Doubloons, and other rewards.
The bundles are available until: Mon. 05 Apr. 07:00 CET (UTC+1)
The bundles will be available for 18 days. You can obtain only one bundle per day. A total of 12 bundles will be available, so you can skip 6 days and still be able to collect all the rewards.
Big Hunt
Update 0.10.2 brings a new temporary battle type called "Big Hunt"—a revamped version of the Key Battle that went live in Update 0.9.10. Demonstrate your skills as you stand against foes in an engaging competition of the future by assuming command over a ship that represents one of three corporations!

The new battle type pits 16 players against each other and AI-controlled monsters on the gigantic Polygon map.
  • Your main objective is to exit the Polygon via the Portal located at the center of the map. Be cautious—the Portal opens up only some time after the battle starts.
  • You start out alone, but you can gather a team directly in battle.
  • It’s now possible to enter battle as part of a Division, but each player still starts the battle on their own. To coordinate their efforts, Division mates will need to locate each other on the map and build up their team.
  • The Big Hunt ends when all surviving players exit through the Portal, or when the battle time expires.

[expand] [/expand]
A temporary resource—Battle Points—will be issued to players for destroying monsters and other players.
  • Specifically for the Big Hunt, we've added a new boss ship called Aurora. Defeating her won't be smooth sailing, but doing so will bring a huge amount of Battle Points to the team that sinks her.
  • Having accrued a certain number of Battle Points, you can reinforce your ship directly in battle.
  • Any Battle Points you earn won’t be lost or spent in battle. You can exchange them for rewards in the Armory.
  • Successfully exiting the Polygon will double the amount of Battle Points you get.

Grab the helm of one of a total of six ships, and try your luck in the Big Hunt! Each ship has a wide variety of modules that can have a significant impact on gameplay.

The first three ships, which you are likely to already be familiar with from the Key Battle, are available immediately with all of their modules. The three new ships—X Hector, X Avenger, and X Whirlwind—and all of their modules will become available after completing chains of combat missions.

[expand] [/expand]
Each ship is equipped with distinct types of weapons and consumables that can have a drastic impact on gameplay. X Hector, for example, can dive underwater, where she has greater speed and maneuverability, and can also ignore enemy shells and torpedoes for a short period of time. X Avenger can be equipped with large-caliber mortars that have a big impact zone. X Whirlwind offers a wide selection of torpedo armament and is capable of regenerating HP by damaging her enemies.
More details on the Big Hunt rules, as well as the available rewards in the Armory, will come in a dedicated article on our website.
Visual Improvements
Update 0.10.2 ushers in a large-scale makeover of the in-game visual effects. All effects in the game—from shell tracers and fires on board ships, to gunfire, water splashes, and AA fire explosions—have been enhanced. New visual effects have been added for ricochets; fires on ships; citadel hits; incapacitated weapons; and active operation effects for the Damage Control Party, Repair Party, Main Battery Reload Booster, Defensive AA Fire, and Hydroacoustic Search consumables.

[expand] [/expand]
More details about the visual effects enhancements are available in a separate article.
Division Star
Throughout Update 0.10.2, Clan members will have access to special victory bonuses in the form of a Division Star.
  • You can get a Division Star by playing as part of a Division with your Clanmates.
  • A Star is issued to each member of a Division for the first victory gained by that Division during Update 0.10.2.
  • A Star can be obtained in Random, Co-op, and Clan Battles, as well as in Operations.
  • Earning a certain number of Stars unlocks access to various rewards.
  • If you switch Clans, any Stars and rewards you previously earned remain with you.
  • To see the roster of Clanmates who you can combine your efforts with in a Division, as well as the list of rewards you can get, navigate to the Division Star tab in the Clans section.
Armory

New ships
X Austin, available for 29,000 Steel, is a U.S. cruiser that was designed at the end of World War II. The ship is armed with twelve dual-purpose 127 mm guns in six turrets, and carries two quintuple-tube torpedo launcher mounts. The cruiser has an unlimited number of charges for the Main Battery Reload Booster consumable, which reduces the reload time of her guns by 75% instead of the standard 50%. She also has the Hydroacoustic Search and Defensive AA Fire consumables in separate slots. Her AA defenses are efficient, and she’s armed with SAP shells instead of AP shells.
IX Marco Polo, available for 228,000 Coal, is an Italian battleship that was designed in the 1930s. As a further development of the Vittorio Veneto-class battleships, Marco Polo is equipped with nine 406 mm guns in three turrets. Like her researchable Italian counterparts, Marco Polo relies on AP and SAP shells, but her guns are more accurate. Instead of being equipped with the Exhaust Smoke Generator consumable, she has a choice between Spotting Aircraft or Fighter in a single slot. The ship boasts good concealment and decent armor protection. This ship may also drop from Italian Battleships containers.

A permanent camouflage named "Eagle" for X Franklin D. Roosevelt is now available in the Armory in exchange for 10 Ranked Tokens.
With the release of Update 0.10.2, X Somers will cease to be available in the Armory. When Update 0.10.5 goes live, VI Erich Loewenhardt, VII Nelson, VI T-61, VII Haida, VII Z-39, VIII Asashio, VIII Lenin, and VI Admiral Graf Spee will also cease to be available. The ships are being removed from the game due to a combination of their popularity and combat efficiency. In order to maintain the proper level of diversity in teams in terms of ship composition, these ships will cease to be available for an indefinite period of time, but may return in future.

We understand that accumulating resources for ships is a long process, which is why we wanted to warn you in advance. Any interested players still have time to steer these ships into their Ports before Update 0.10.5 goes live in about 3 months' time.
Other Changes

Content additions and changes

Ships VII Weimar and VIII Tiger '59 have been added for testing by developers, volunteers, and community contributors.

Other changes and improvements

• The aiming sights of aircraft carrier squadrons will now display a land-hit indicator similar to that displayed for the main battery guns of ships.
  • The post-battle service costs for Tier II–VII Premium and special ships have been reduced.
  • We've improved the operation of the ship's autopilot when moving backwards and when changing course.
  • Performance of the game chat is now more stable.
  • We've made changes to the set of recommended Commander skills for X Småland and researchable Italian battleships.
  • Fixed an issue that could sometimes make IX Lepanto's firing range longer than her viewing range: for Lepanto, the viewing range has been increased from 25.3 to 28.3 km.
  • Fixed an issue that could freeze the dropping container animation on the barge when minimizing the game client window.
  • Fixed lighting effects for the Port of Marseille.
  • Fixed the ship's position in the Designer's Table Port.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the cost of Commander retraining to be displayed incorrectly.
  • Fixed an issue that made it impossible to display a selected ship's stats for a particular Ranked Battles season in the Port.
  • The player profile preview window now offers a player search option.
  • We’ve added an option to view stats for a hidden player profile if the viewing and viewed players are members of the same Clan. Profile settings can be configured on the game website.
  • Fixed an FPS drop that occurred in the Port when the camera moved to a certain position.
  • Other improvements and changes. For a complete list, please refer to Player Support.

Brawls in 0.10.1: The Next Step

Brawl 1 will be held under an updated set of rules, utilizing a 1 vs. 1 format with Tier VIII ships. Face off against rivals for Credits, Coal, Free XP, and other rewards!
Updated Brawls
In Update 0.10.1, we've revamped Brawls to make them a separate battle type, with seasons spanning short periods of time and utilizing a smaller team format. You can participate either in a Division or solo, and you no longer need to be a member of a Clan in order to join in.
Other features
• Each Brawl runs for only a few days. Brawls are available throughout each day, except for low activity periods.
  • If you're not playing in a Division, your allies are picked at random. Matchmaking takes the type and tier of your ship into account.
  • The ship-type compositions of each team won't necessarily mirror each other.
  • All ships will be of the same tier.
  • Battles take place on maps with reduced combat areas.
  • You can't take part in a battle with opponents who you previously fought against in your last several battles.
  • Bonuses to XP for the first win of the day will not be available in Brawls.

Details
VIII Ragnarok is an immeasurably ancient vessel, a relic of days long forgotten. It was built in the shipyards orbiting a world of proud and fearsome warriors. Though the citizens adhered to the Imperial creed and paid their tithes, secret cabals on the planet’s surface worshipped Khorne, the Lord of Rage. Their cults were strong. They were hated. They were in a minority. At the appointed hour, they rose up and tried to overthrow their loyalist masters. They failed. They were defeated in a long, bloody war and all, to a man, perished in flames. Their names were wiped from history. But the fickle whims of the Warp decreed that their vengeful spirits would forever haunt the vessel Ragnarok, whose hull was being constructed in the docks above the planet's surface. To this day, Ragnarok and all aboard it cry, "Vengeance! Death! Blood for the Blood God!"

Originally designed for a Naval mission with a purpose now long forgotten, VIII Ignis Purgatio was lost during the Horus Heresy. After going missing for several millennia, the ship was rediscovered on one of the Frontier worlds in the Jericho Reach. Though clearly a warship, it was put to use as a transport by its new, uncouth masters who failed to recognize its true potential. After undergoing intensive repairs and cleansing its quarters of its previous inhabitants, Ignis Purgatio was eventually returned to Imperial Navy service and, since then, has become an essential component of Battlefleet Solar. Once again, it acts as a fearsome guard dog for humanity and, by proxy, the Emperor Himself.
