Tier V–IX European destroyers hit the high seas in Early Access!

[h3]Features of the new Tech Tree branch[/h3]
Long-range torpedoes with high speeds are the hallmark features of the new branch. European destroyers carry rapid-firing main guns from Tier VII and, starting at Tier V, the Repair Party consumable. With their decent AA defenses and access to the Defensive AA Fire consumable at Tiers VIII–X, they can effectively fend off hostile aircraft.
  • Their long-range, high-speed torpedoes deal relatively moderate damage. The torpedoes can be set to fan out in two spreads: narrow or super-narrow.
  • Good AA defenses with a solid reach. Starting from Tier VIII, the European destroyers are equipped with the Defensive AA Fire consumable.
  • Destroyers of Tier VII and above are equipped with rapid-firing main battery guns. They are efficient in close quarters combat, but less comfortable when exchanging fire over long distances because of their extended shell-hang time and short range of fire.
  • While they are not equipped with Smoke Generator, they enjoy good concealment (just 6 km for Halland). Ships of Tier V and above have access to a variant of the Repair Party consumable that restores 1% of any lost HP per second, but has an action time of just 10 seconds. At Tiers VIII, IX, and X, the active duration of the consumable is 4 seconds longer.
    The entire branch of European destroyers will become available to research with the release of Update 0.9.3.

To get European destroyers in Early Access, you can exchange a new resource—European Tokens—for bundles in the Armory that include V Visby, VI Västerås, VII Skåne, VIII Öland, and IX Östergötland.

You will find European Tokens in Europe containers, which in turn can be obtained by progressing through Directives or picked up from Daily Shipments. You can also receive up to ten additional containers for participating in official World of Warships streams. Activate bonus codes and complete special combat missions to get them.

The Tech Tree now features X Småland—available for 2,000,000 Free XP. It's the first Tier X ship to be made available in exchange for this resource type.
X Småland stands as one of the largest and strongest destroyers in the Swedish Navy. Just like her researchable European counterparts, Småland lacks Smoke Generator, but has access to Surveillance Radar, an efficient Engine Boost consumable, and Repair Party. She also has a rapid-firing main battery. Småland is a multi-purpose warship that can pose a real threat to Key Areas and is highly effective at chasing down hostile destroyers.

[h3]Key Features[/h3]
  • Four 120 mm main guns with a reload time of just 1.7 seconds.
  • Eight torpedoes with a 12 km reach and speed of 76 knots, but with rather low maximum damage. The ship has one quintuple-tube and one triple-tube torpedo launcher to carry her torpedoes.
  • The ship's unique Engine Boost consumable provides a 30% speed increase (by default: 8%), but operates for just 60 seconds. When activated, this consumable makes it possible for Småland to reach speeds of up to 45.5 knots.
  • On Småland, the Defensive AA Fire consumable is replaced by Surveillance Radar. It has an action time of 20 seconds and is capable of detecting ships at distances of up to 7.5 km.

A new Port called Fjords is set to appear in the game. The Port's design is inspired by Scandinavian landscapes.



[h3]New Emblems[/h3]
European Fleet emblems are now available in the game. They can be obtained in the same way as the emblems of other nations, i.e. by winning a certain number of battles playing Tier VIII–X ships, and ranking among the top base XP earners on your team for those battles.

Everything You Need to Know About Commanders

Our game has featured many different Commanders throughout its development. Commanders offer you a way to reinforce your ships by improving their specifications and adding valuable bonuses. Commanders are nation-bound and can be assigned only to the corresponding ships.

To unlock Commanders, newcomers to World of Warships will need to play 11 battles. In this article, we'll remind you what Commanders XP and skills are, and list the unique Commanders that you can obtain in the game by completing various missions, finishing Campaigns, assembling Collections, or by exchanging resources for them in the Armory.

Commander XP ● Commander Skills ● Unique Commanders ● Unique Historical Commanders

[h2]Commander XP[/h2]
  • Commanders earn XP in battle. Upon accumulating a certain amount of XP, they receive a skill point that can be spent on their training.
  • The more ship XP you earn in battle, the more XP that will go to your Commander. Use signals and camouflages to accelerate the XP-earning process.
  • Once a Commander has the maximum number of skills, all the XP they earn becomes Elite XP.
  • Elite Commander XP can be converted into Free XP, spent on resetting skills, or used to train other Commanders.
  • Commanders are always specialized for a specific ship. If you assign them to another researchable ship, you won't be able to profit from all the bonuses they provide at once—some skills will have 50% efficiency, while others will stop working entirely.
  • If you reassign a Commander to a Premium or Special ship, they won't require additional retraining. All the skills you've learned will function at maximum efficiency, regardless of the number of skill points.
  • If you reassign a Commander to a researchable ship, they'll need to earn a certain amount of XP on the new ship in order to use all of their skills effectively. You can also do it instantaneously for doubloons, skip halfway for credits, or spend Elite Commander XP on doing it.


[h2]Commander Skills[/h2]
Commander skills improve ship parameters and provide you with new possibilities.

  • In total, the skill matrix has four lines, according to the number of points you need to research a certain skill, from 1–4.
  • Skills are learned sequentially: in order to learn a skill in the fourth line, you need to learn at least one skill from all the preceding lines first.
  • You can learn any number of skills, as long as you have enough points.
  • Some skills are more effective on specific ships.
  • Are you dissatisfied with you current Commander skills? You can redistribute them in exchange for Elite Commander XP or doubloons. The cost depends on the number of skill points you reset.
  • The maximum possible number of skill points is 19.

  • They can be obtained by completing various missions, finishing Campaigns, assembling collections, or by exchanging resources for them in the Armory.
  • They are displayed in Port with a special ribbon.
  • They have improved skills—enhanced versions of standard skills that are displayed with a "+" icon in the matrix. In order to use a special skill, you first need to learn it.

Warships are some of the largest and most complex technical objects in existence. Their monumental appearance and vast guns are enough to impress everyone. To our regret, it's hard to communicate the sheer scale of these steel giants in the game. In this Dry Dock episode, we compare the sizes of all the Tier X ships in World of Warships: from the smallest destroyers to the largest battleships!

Ranked Battles: the Fifteenth Season

Key Rules of the Season ● Rewards ● Arms Race


[h2]Key Rules of the Season[/h2] Starts: Wed. 26 Feb. 10:00 CET (UTC+1) Ends: Tue. 24 Mar. 09:30 CET (UTC+1)

Format: 7 vs. 7 playing Tier X ships.

Restrictions: no more than one aircraft carrier and three battleships per team. If there aren’t enough suitable ships to complete the teams, and the time the first player in the queue has waited exceeds 4 minutes and 10 seconds, then each team can be completed with up to four battleships.

Rewards: up to 5,500 Steel, one Ranked Token, and many additional rewards.

Mode: Arms Race.

Maps: Trident, Warrior's Path, Sleeping Giant, Mountain Range, and Islands of Ice.



[h3]Ranked Battles Features[/h3]
  • A total of 18 Ranks split into three leagues: Second, First, and Premier.
  • Those who are new to Ranked Battles will start the Season from Rank 18. Those who participated in the previous Season will receive bonus Stars: one for each rank attained.
  • Players earn the Stars needed to climb the ranking ladder by winning battles. At the majority of ranks, a defeat means a lost Star.
  • Ranks 18–15 and 12 are irrevocable. You cannot lose a Star for a defeat at Ranks 18–17. If you are first on your team in terms of XP earned, you get to keep your hard-earned Star—even if your team lost the battle.
  • A bonus Star is granted for reaching a new rank at Ranks 18-11.
  • Only Stars obtained for the first time are counted for progress towards the Ranked Battles emblem. Bonus Stars for the previous Season are included in this count if you play at least one battle in the new Season.
  • You'll receive the Flag of the First League for reaching Rank 10. Upon reaching Rank 5, it will be replaced with the Flag of the Premier League.
  • Flags given for reaching Leagues will be removed from player accounts once the Season ends.
  • You’ll receive a commemorative achievement for reaching Rank 1 in the Fifteenth Season.
  • All those who reach Rank 15 will receive a commemorative flag which will remain in their collections.

[h2]Rewards[/h2]
    The League Flags reduce the cost of servicing your ships by 10% and 20% until the end of the Season.

[h2]Arms Race[/h2]
Arms Race is a battle mode in which special areas that provide buffs spawn on the map. If you can make it to a special area and activate it before your opponents do, your entire team will get a bonus to their combat abilities till the end of that battle. If you capture more than one of the same buff, the bonuses provided by them stack up.

Eight minutes after a battle starts, a Key Area appears in the center of the map. The diameter of this area then shrinks over time. The team that captures it will be able to quickly gain an advantage in points and ultimately win.

[h3]How do the areas with buffs work?[/h3]
  • Each buff area activates 2 minutes after spawning.
  • When you enter one of these areas after its activation, you will receive the buff instantly.
  • If you are within a buff area together with any enemy ships at the moment of its activation, the team with the most ships within the area gets the bonus. If the ship numbers are equal, the area remains in an uncaptured state until the balance of power inside it shifts one way or another.
  • In addition to the buffs, each captured area grants victory points to your team and deducts points from the enemy team.

[h3]Which buffs are available?[/h3]
Increased maximum ship speed and a faster rudder-shift time, as well as a reduced aircraft engine boost cooldown time:
  • +3% to the maximum ship speed and rudder-shift time.
  • −20% to the engine boost cooldown time of an aircraft carrier’s squadrons.


Continuous restoration of HP as a percentage of the maximum HP pool for ships or aircraft:
  • Restoring +0.05% of ship HP per second.
  • Restoring +0.3% of aircraft HP per second.

Faster reload time of the main battery and torpedo armament, or faster aircraft restoration time on a carrier's deck:
  • −5% to the reload time of the main battery and torpedo armament.
  • −5% to the aircraft restoration time.

Faster reload time of ship and squadron consumables:
  • −5% to the reload time of ship consumables.
  • −10% to the reload time of squadron consumables.
