Clan Battles: The Cayman Season

Captains!

Clan Battles Season 17 kicks off during Update 0.11.4. It's named "Cayman." The cayman is a dangerous reptile that inhabits the swamps, rivers, and lakes of America. They are nocturnal predators that are often at the top of the food chain in their ecosystems. The trunk of the world tree was depicted as an upright cayman in Mesoamerican mythology.

Clan Battles offer an excellent opportunity to show off your skills in World of Warships. It's not only the results of individual battles that are important here but also general progress. Fight alongside your allies and rise to the top!
Just like in previous seasons, any player who fights in a Clan, Co-op, Ranked, or Random Battle playing a Tier VIII–X ship or supership will be given a set of three special Tier X ships for temporary use: X Gearing, X Yamato, and X Zaō.
Win Clan Battles to earn valuable rewards such as Steel, Coal, camouflages, special signals, Clan Tokens, and much more. The more victories you achieve, the more rewards you'll earn.
Restrictions on Ship Numbers
Just like in previous seasons, certain restrictions on the numbers of specific ships per team apply in Clan Battles.

The restrictions can be set for the entire duration of a season or for specific periods of time. For example, they might be set after the first 2 weeks of a season then replaced with different restrictions a few weeks later. This allows us to promptly react to the current state of the season.

Season 17 begins with the following restrictions:
  • Aircraft carriers are not allowed in battles.
  • You cannot enter battle playing X Petropavlovsk or X Kléber.
  • No more than one battleship per team.
  • No more than two superships per team.
  • No more than three mercenaries per Division.

These restrictions allow us to diversify the gameplay and increase the variability of setups in the season.

Aircraft carriers are not allowed in the current season. In future seasons, however, carriers will take their rightful place in Clan Battles again.

During the season, based on statistics, new restrictions may be added and existing restrictions may be changed. We will announce the changes separately on our Development Blog. Information about any changes will also be available in the game client.

Rewards
Detailed information about the completion criteria and rewards can be found in the game client.

As an experiment for a single chain of combat missions, we've decided to let players in the Storm League choose their own reward—either 30 days of Warships Premium Account or 15,000 Coal.

You can choose your reward under the Combat Missions tab. If no reward is selected, the first suggested reward—30 days of Warships Premium Account—will automatically be credited after the mission chain is completed.

French Cruisers in Early Access

Three new cruisers have arrived in Early Access in World of Warships: Cherbourg, Brest, and Marseille.

Read on to learn everything you need to know about the features of the new ships and Early Access.
Features of the new ships
These new ships have found their places alongside the first branch of French cruisers. The main feature of the new ships is their large-caliber guns (relative to the ship type) mounted on their bows. They reload slowly, but this is compensated for by the Main Battery Reload Booster consumable.

Cruisers are capable of achieving high speeds with the help of the improved "French-specific" Engine Boost consumable. The ships' armor does a great job in protecting their citadels against medium-caliber AP shells, but the new cruisers are quite vulnerable against HE and SAP shells. Medium and long ranges are optimal for engagements, but with the help of their 139 mm secondary battery guns with improved accuracy, the new ships can also show their worth in close-range encounters.

Early Access
VIII Cherbourg is available as a reward for completing combat missions.
IX Brest can be obtained via random bundles available for Doubloons.
X Marseille can be obtained for Doubloons after acquiring all the sequential bundles for French Tokens.
Players will have access to special combat missions. Completing them will bring a new temporary resource—French Tokens. You can spend French Tokens on sequential bundles with the Liberation permanent camouflage for VIII Cherbourg, IX Brest, and X Marseille, as well as other valuable in-game items.

You can obtain as many as 1,200 Tokens for free. This will be enough to obtain the permanent camouflage for VIII Cherbourg.
  • 850 Tokens for completing special combat missions
  • 150 Tokens in free daily bundles
  • 200 for Community Tokens

You can also find French Tokens in random bundles available for Doubloons. In these bundles, you'll also find new French Premium cruiser VII Toulon. Later on, she'll be available in Premium Shop and Armory bundles. When Update 0.11.6 hits the servers, any remaining French Tokens on player accounts will be converted into Credits at the rate of 1:9,000.
The Port of Marseille has been updated.

[expand] [/expand]
When Update 0.11.6 goes live, the French cruisers will become available for all players to research.

Arms Race Hits Random and Co-op Battles in Update 0.11.4

Update 0.11.4 brings Arms Race—a mode that allows you to improve the characteristics of your ship right in battle—into Random and Co-op Battles.

With the addition of Arms Race to Random and Co-op Battles, we're disabling Epicenter.

Rules
Arms Race will be available only in battles where the highest ship tier is IX or X, as well as in battles with superships. You can enter a battle in a Division of no more than three players. The number of players and matchmaking restrictions are the same as those applied in Random and Co-op Battles.

It will also be available only on these eight maps: Northern Waters, Sleeping Giant, Loop, Warrior’s Path, Mountain Range, Land of Fire, Islands of Ice, and Hotspot.

[expand] [/expand]

Features of Arms Race
Once a battle starts, areas with buffs spawn on the map. If you can make it to a special area and pick up the buffs before your opponents do, your entire team will get a bonus to their combat abilities till the end of that battle.

Eight minutes after a battle starts, a Key Area appears in the center of the map. The diameter of this area then shrinks over time. The team that captures it will be able to quickly gain an advantage in points and greatly increase their chances of winning. The capture time is 120 seconds. Holding an area brings 10 points every 2 seconds.

To win a battle, a team will need to meet one of the following conditions:
  • Sink all enemy ships
  • Be the first to score 1,000 superiority points
  • Reduce the opposing team's points to zero
  • Prevail over the opposing team by the number of points at the time the battle ends

[expand] [/expand]
Battles in the Arms Race mode will bring players the standard sums of XP and Credits they would get in Random or Co-op Battles (depending on which type of battle they are in). Activating buff areas will also be rewarded.

How Buff Areas Work
Each buff area becomes available to capture 2 minutes after spawning. The player whose ship first enters the area after its activation gets a buff for their ship and all allies.

If both allied and enemy ships are in a buff area at the moment of its activation, the team with the most ships in the area gets the buff. If the ship numbers are equal, the balance of power inside the area must shift one way or another for a team to receive the buff.

In addition to the buffs, each captured area grants 20 points to your team and deducts 20 points from the enemy team. Players who capture a buff area receive an economic reward of XP and Credits. New buff areas appear on the map every 2 minutes until the 14th minute of each battle. Buff areas spawn randomly on maps, so every battle is unique!

Buff Types

Permanent HP recovery for ships and carrier aircraft:
• Restores +0.04% HP per second for destroyers and submarines
  • Restores +0.03% HP per second for cruisers
  • Restores +0.02% HP per second for battleships
  • Restores +0.125% HP per second for carrier aircraft
Faster reload time for all ship armaments; faster squadron preparation time for aircraft carriers:
• −10% to the reload time of all armaments and sonar
  • −10% to squadron restoration time
Boosted armament damage for ships and carrier squadrons:
• +10% to maximum ship armament damage
  • +10% to maximum armament damage of carrier and hybrid ship squadrons
Increased current and maximum HP values for ships and carrier squadrons:
• +10% to current and maximum HP of destroyers and submarines
  • +7.5% to current and maximum HP of cruisers
  • +5% to current and maximum HP of battleships
  • +17% to current and maximum HP of carrier squadrons
Each buff has three levels. The bonuses stack up if you capture the same buffs multiple times. All four buff types can be applied to a ship simultaneously.
Picking up a buff that you have already maxed out will have no effect. Capturing a buff area will bring 20 superiority points to your team and deduct 20 points from the enemy team. Buff areas disappear after being captured.
