Dry Dock: Odin

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
History
Odin is based on the project of a fast battleship that was developed in Germany in the 1930s. It represented a development of the Deutschland-class heavy cruisers—the class which Admiral Graf Spee belonged to.

With the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, World War I officially came to an end and the defeat of Germany was formalized. As per the conditions of the document, the country's fleet was to be cut down to a minimum, and serious restrictions on the construction of new capital ships in terms of their number, water displacement, and main battery caliber were to be imposed.

In the 1920s–30s, German shipbuilders were charged with a challenging task—designing an all-in-one warship that, while conforming to the strict limitations of the Treaty, would still easily be able to disengage from battleships and confidently sink any existing heavy cruisers in battle. That's how the Panzerschiff (armored ship) Deutschland joined the Reichsmarine in 1933. The ship had the armament of a battleship, but the speed of a cruiser. The third, and most advanced ship of this series was Admiral Graf Spee.

German high command were closely watching for any shipbuilding advancements made by France. In response to one such advancement, their engineers had been tasked with developing ships capable of opposing the French Dunkerque-class battleships. The German shipbuilders had to navigate the restrictions imposed by international naval treaties, as well as the technical and operational requirements of the Kriegsmarine, who wanted a fast ship with large guns that would be near invulnerable to enemy fire. Their work resulted in a range of theoretical projects that would ultimately lead to the construction of the Scharnhorst-class battleships. Among those projects was a development based on a slightly larger Deutschland-class ship with reinforced armor and 305 mm main battery guns installed in three triple turrets. Interestingly, one such gun was historically designed, and even produced in 1939 as a prototype.

Secondary battery: six SK C/25 150 mm/60 guns in three twin mounts

AA defenses: sixteen 55 mm L/77 Gerät 58 guns in twin mounts; 32 C/38 20 mm autocannons in twin and quadruple mounts

  • Trademark German secondary battery with a long firing range.
  • Two quadruple-tube torpedo launchers at her aft.
  • Her Hydroacoustic Search is capable of detecting torpedoes at distances of up to 3.5 km.
Details
VIII Ragnarok is an immeasurably ancient vessel, a relic of days long forgotten. It was built in the shipyards orbiting a world of proud and fearsome warriors. Though the citizens adhered to the Imperial creed and paid their tithes, secret cabals on the planet’s surface worshipped Khorne, the Lord of Rage. Their cults were strong. They were hated. They were in a minority. At the appointed hour, they rose up and tried to overthrow their loyalist masters. They failed. They were defeated in a long, bloody war and all, to a man, perished in flames. Their names were wiped from history. But the fickle whims of the Warp decreed that their vengeful spirits would forever haunt the vessel Ragnarok, whose hull was being constructed in the docks above the planet's surface. To this day, Ragnarok and all aboard it cry, "Vengeance! Death! Blood for the Blood God!"

For a detailed look at the ship's technical specifications, follow this link.

Originally designed for a Naval mission of the purpose now long forgotten, VIII Ignis Purgatio was lost during the Horus Heresy. After missing for several millennia, the ship was rediscovered on one of the Frontier worlds in the Jericho Reach. Though clearly a warship, it was put to use as a transport by its new, uncouth masters who failed to recognize its true potential. After undergoing intensive repairs and cleansing its quarters of its previous inhabitants, Ignis Purgatio was eventually returned to Imperial Navy service and, since then, it has become an essential component of Battlefleet Solar. Once again, it acts as a fearsome guard dog for humanity and, by proxy, the Emperor Himself.

Please note: once you enter a battle, you won't be able to change your Clan's selected Prime Time in the current Clan Brawl.
Unlike Clan Battles, a Clan's placing in the Brawl Rating is determined for the battle region only—i.e. the region of the selected Prime Time.
Rules in Detail
• There is no limit on the number of participating teams from a single Clan. At the same time, each team's composition must conform to the aforementioned conditions.
  • Only victories are counted towards the Rating.
  • Because only victories are counted and defeats aren't taken into account, there’s no option to select Alpha or Bravo Ratings in the Clan Brawl.
  • Victories won in the Clan Brawl aren't counted towards the criteria to obtain Clan Battle emblems.
  • If two teams have the same number of victories, the higher position in the Rating will be given to the Clan that played their last winning battle at the earliest point in time.
