HELLDIVERS™ 2 News

New Helldivers 2 Warbond arrives next week, includes explosive crossbow you'll blow yourself up with

Nice, there’s a fresh Helldivers 2 warbond set to drop next week, just in case you’re already sick of the Quasar Cannon and want to ditch it in favour of some new weapons. To be fair, who could turn down the likes of an explosive crossbow and a grenade pistol that might give you a bit more bang for your buck than you expect.

Yup, just in case you needed more reason to stop moaning about the recent Slugger shotgun nerf, here’s some more new gear to try out while you battle to secure planets like Maia and Estanu. It all looks pretty cool too, even if Arrowhead might be slowly turning the game into a medieval warfare sim.

There’s a rundown of the contents of this warbond, fittingly dubbed the ‘Democratic Detonation Premium Warbond’, in a new PlayStation Blog post. In terms of firepower, the big additions weapon-wise will be the BR-14 Adjudicator Rifle, the R-36 Eruptor Rifle, and the CB-9 Exploding Crossbow.

HELLDIVERS 2: Explosive New Warbond!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Noble patriots of Super Earth, the time for stealth is over.

A new Premium Warbond has been deployed to all fighting units on frontlines across the galaxy.

Codename…. Democratic Detonation.

This concoction of chaos is packed with explosive weapons, fierce armour, super-slick capes and sweet emotes.

So let loose and make the biggest bang since the dawn of time to blow up the bugs, melt the machines, and ignite the raging fires of liberty!

FIREPOWER

BR-14 Adjudicator Rifle
Deliver righteous judgement to your enemies with accuracy. This armour-penetrating assault rifle is best used against smaller groups.

R-36 Eruptor Rifle
Keep your distance… this bolt-action rifle fires jet-assisted shells that explode shrapnel in all di-rections upon impact. All directions. Even your face.

CB-9 Exploding Crossbow
Kaboom! Enjoy powerful exploding bolts that dish out max damage upon direct impact. Gravity must be accounted for when aiming.

SECONDARY WEAPONS / UTILITY BOOSTER

G-123 Thermite Grenade
This little beauty can stick to surfaces before burning up to a toasty 2000°C.

GP-31 Grenade Pistol
Does what it says on the label – a pistol that fires grenades. Don’t forget to reload between shots though.

Expert Extraction Pilot Booster
Need to get out of a jam fast? This booster lowers the time it takes for the extraction shuttle to reach the extraction beacon. Home in time for dinner.

ARMOUR

CE-27 Ground Breaker
Medium Armour.
“The ground is just another obstacle that hasn't yet been cleared.” - SGM Janet Jones, Excava-tion Corps Founder.

CE-07 Demolition Specialist
Light Armour.
Originally worn by Lunar terraformers, this suit can withstand rapid changes in pressure, heat, and personal velocity.

FS-55 Devastator
Heavy Armour.
Domestic versions of this armour allow colonial farmers to safely plant crops and mines side-by-side while staying in one piece.

Of course, always accessorise your choice of armour with brand-new capes – Harbinger of True Equality, Eagle’s Fury, or Freedom’s Tapestry – as you mix and match your lethal loadout of liberation.

Democratic Detonation is rolling out to your Destroyer’s Acquisitions panel on April 11th.

Let’s drag our malevolent enemies into the burning flames of hell, soldiers.

How to get the Malevelon Creek Cape in Helldivers 2

How do you get the Helldivers 2 Malevelon Creek Cape? One of the most hotly contested territories in Super Earth's fight against the Automatons is Malevelon Creek in the Severen Sector. While the Helldivers were successful, many fell in the battle. Therefore, the president of Super Earth has issued a decree to commemorate this feat, stating that April 3 will be Malevelon Creek Memorial Day.

As a result, a Helldivers 2 Malevelon Creek Cape is currently being issued to anyone who logs into the multiplayer game and spreads democracy during this solemn occasion. We highly recommend you take the best Helldivers 2 weapons and utilize the best Stratagems to honor the fallen. After all, there's no better send off than an explosive tribute that happens to take a few Automatons with it.

Wondering why Helldivers 2's Slugger got nerfed? Apparently it's because the shotgun accidentally ended up as "the best sniper rifle out there"

Another day, another Helldivers 2 patch amid the ongoing discourse surrounding yesterday’s Helldivers 2 patch, since the latter introduced a fresh set of balancing changes that - oh boy - affected some weapons. Thankfully, one of Arrowhead’s devs has provided a bit more context on the reasons why one gun was nerfed.

These latest changes to the strengths of armaments, enemies and missions are the first major ones to hit the game since its first set caused plenty of rather unpleasant exchanges between upset community members and developers early last month. Surely there’s been no discourse this time though, right, given some brand new guns were added to the game’s arsenal just last week for folks to try out? You wish, buddy.

The main point of contention some players have with patch 01.000.200’s changes concerns the SG-8S Slugger shotgun, which had become a favourite in a similar manner to the railgun ahead of that last balancing patch. Though, as Arrowhead senior game designer Alex Kravchenko has explained to players on the game’s Discord server, the reason behind the Slugger nerf isn’t just that it was getting too popular.
