Oh no, Helldivers 2 players are asking Arrowhead to consider making a little change to the game in order to make things easier for folk who aren’t up to the challenge of delving into a higher difficulty battle just to secure some super samples. To be fair to them, the idea of transmuting plentiful resources into other ones seems to be going down pretty well so far.
This isn’t the first time that the way the game dishes out its rewards - or more imporatenl;y what folks have to go through in order to acquire some of the stuff they want - has been a point of discussion in its community. Remember the whole farming debate, which feels like it happened about ten years ago now we’re at the point when mech riding’s becoming a thing and people have gradually stopped causing a ruckus about balancing?
Now that the masses of Helldivers 2 have gotten their hands on mechs, it unsurprisingly hasn’t taken very long at all for folk to start incorporating them into bizarrely effective combat strategies. If you’ve spent the weekend riding around atop a robotic death machine, you’re in luck, as Arrowhead looks to be considering making that a proper gameplay mechanic.
Yeah, you read that right, it’s been about five minutes since Tien Kwan was successfully liberated, unlocking the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuits that’d been being teased for a good while, and people have already found a way to casually ride them around. If nothing else, it’s a testament to what the community can do when it’s not too busy arguing about balancing or getting frustrated about hosts who wield the kick hammer far too aggressively.
As shown in the video below, mech riding at the moment involves a ground troop using a jump pack to hop atop the roof of an Exosuit. While it does seem to be decently effective at ensuring that both the rider and the mech pilot have a little bit of extra protection when they head into battle, it does currently look pretty janky, especially from the mech pilot’s view.
Helldivers 2 players are getting frustrated with hosts kicking them out for silly reasons, so Arrowhead's CEO wants to know how you'd like it fixed.
The problem with playing with random people in an online game, especially if you're not the host, is that if the host is kind of a jerk, you could get the boot for no good reason. That's a problem for some Helldivers 2 players at the moment, with one players noting that they've been kicked from groups simply because of low kill counts, or even "using a single Stratagem or particular weapon the host doesn't like" as one user pointed out to Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt. Arrowhead, and Pilestedt in particular, has been mostly quite communicative with its players on the game's various issues, and in response to this particular frustration, Pilestedt has asked players how they might fix it.
"This is so sh*tty," Pilestedt said responding to the user on Twitter. "Also very hard to solve - we have some ideas but no conclusion. You know what, let's try this: Hive Mind - do you have a design suggestion for how to improve this experience?." This particular tweet has already had over 1000 responses, so clearly many players had ideas for the problem. "Thank you everyone for your suggestions!" Pilestedt said in a follow-up tweet. "I will ask the team to look at this thread and draw inspiration. This is a pretty cool thing, the entire community coming together to discuss a hard to solve problem. Even though vote kick is the easiest, it has some downsides and there is always a better solution."
