There aren't many games like Helldivers 2 where you casually accept the fact that you might be kicked from the servers at any moment, forcing you to boot the game up again to rejoin your friends. In my last session, my party experienced six crashes between us, and yet somehow this didn't put a dampener on our experience. Every time someone crashed out of a mission, there was plenty of time left on the clock for us to wait for them to hop back in so they didn't miss out on the mission rewards.

Helldivers 2 is very fun, which is why it’s managed to remain very popular despite server issues that’ve regularly stopped legions of folks from, you know, actually playing it. Thankfully, the concurrent user cap for the game has just gotten another nice boost ahead of the weekend.

Yep, shortly following a patch that fixed the dreaded black screen startup issue and one that added a handy auto-kick timer for those who’ve been trying to keep their server spots by leaving the game running while AFK, here is, as DJ Khaled once said, another one. You certainly can’t complain that the folks at Arrowhead aren’t working hard.

One of the things that has marred Helldivers 2's mammoth rise to fame is its servers. Formerly capped at 450,000 players and, oftentimes, populated by AFK Helldivers who refused to log out, it's been a bit of a rough start for the Starship Troopers-style shooter. And, while the game's latest patch fixes some of the server woes, Arrowhead's CEO Johan Pilestedt has noted that we're not out of the woods just yet.
