With Malevelon Creek saved again, Helldivers 2 players aren't really mourning another planet having gone pop in the process because they reckon a big update could be imminent

Good news. And also very bad news. Helldivers 2 players have successfully defended the infamous Malevelon Creek from yet another threat, but they've also lost another planet to the insatiable maw of the Meridian Singularity in the process. They don't seem too bothered though, as they're all more interested in seeing if Arrowhead follows the community's latest big update theory.

Bringing you the fix for the reload issues currently present in the game. We deemed this important enough to get in as fast as possible before the weekend
  • Fix for the auto-cannon reload bug, it now reloads as intended

When Helldivers 2 was at its lowest, Arrowhead looked to Hello Games and No Man's Sky to keep their chin up


I'm not sure I've seen people swing back and forth on a game so rapidly like they have with Helldivers 2. It's had a few hiccoughs here and there, which has made for some tough times for developer Arrowhead, at least in terms of battling the accursed "mixed" rating on Steam (and lower). In a recent interview with The Game Business, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani quite accurately noted that it's been "one heck of a roller coaster year" for Helldivers 2, and also went on to speak about what it was like clawing its way back from low ratings - all the while having to explain to Sony about summer holidays in Sweden.

Helldivers 2 boss says No Man's Sky's redemption arc inspired its own comeback

Despite feeling like it's been around forever, Helldivers 2 is still just over a year old. One of 2024's biggest and most surprising breakout hits, it continues to draw in huge crowds, deliver regular Warbonds, and throw some curveballs into its constantly evolving galactic battle. But despite its relative youth, the game has already gone through some turbulent patches that, at times, looked like they might sink the ship. Speaking in a new interview, the CEO of developer Arrowhead Games says that during its hellish summer, where community sentiment soured and its Steam rating dropped as low as 19%, it looked to No Man's Sky's famous redemption arc as motivation for its own comeback.
