Helldivers 2 CEO takes on 'humble nerd' form to ask Super Earth's 'digital gold' hoarders for pitches about fitting resources into long-term progression

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead's made a point of taking on plenty of player feedback in recent months, whether it be about bugs that need fixing, or improvements the community would like to see. The latest instance of this has been instigated by CEO Shams Jorjani, who's taken to Reddit with the aim of getting some pitches as to how folks would like to see resorces be better tied into progression.

In a post on the game's subreddit (thanks, GamesRadar), Jorjani — going by his wonderful username BigKahuna_AGS — outlined that with permission from the game's designers, he's seeking some player feedback. The issue at hand? How the resources earned by completing missions — medals, samples, requisition slips and the like — can feed into long-term progression.

"Many of us (let's face it, you) have capped out and are sitting on MOUNDS of digital gold (GOLD JERRY, GOLD!) and would like to use said gold patriotically to further the war cause (i.e more fun ways of progression). So I'm here to hear about your best ideas," he wrote.

Helldivers 2's Freedom’s Flame Warbond deploys soon, and that sound you can hear is Super Earth pyromaniacs blasting The Prodigy

A fresh Warbond is set to arrive in Helldivers 2 soon, and it's got players all hot and bothered. To be fair, with a name like Freedom’s Flame, this shipment of gear was always likely to get the community's napalm aficionados excited — and that's exactly what it's done.

After having its name pop up in some misbehaving PlayStation notifications a couple of weeks ago, the Freedom's Flame Premimum Warbond has now been properly revealed, and will be arriving on August 8, just after the big Escalation of Freedom update.

As you can read in the PlayStation Blog about it, Freedom's Flame contains the usual array of stuff to add to your loudout, this time with the big theme being, well, fire.

SG-451 Cookout

Burn, baby, burn! A pump action shotgun that unleashes a burst of incendiary phosphorus pellets at your helpless enemies.

FLAM-66 Torcher
A lightweight flamethrower shooting pressurized fuel through a nozzle into a roaring, open flame. Sounds safe. It isn’t. Watch where you’re standing.

SECONDARY:
P-72 Crisper

A flamethrower that fits in your pocket for the Helldiver on the go! What will those guys think of next? This lovely compact handgun projects a jet of freedom flames over short distances.

Repaint your Shuttle, Hellpod, and exosuit in striking Safety Orange.

CAPES & CARDS Purifying Eclipse
A heartfelt tribute to the Liberation of Choepessa IV in the First Galactic War, in which so much orbital ordnance was detonated that its sun was occluded by ash for an entire lunar cycle.

The Breach
The final mission of the 361st Freedom’s Flame saw this storied unit deploy into the heart of a Supervolcano in a mission of heroic sacrifice. Triggering a huge eruption, this act of incredible bravery wiped out a massive Terminid swarm.
As documented in the bestselling graphic novel ‘The Breach’ – available at all good book shops on Super Earth.

EMOTES Big Stretch, Deep Reflection, and Thoracic Collision Exultation Manoeuvre Co-emote
If you’re going to win. Win in style.

Freedom’s Flame is rolling out to your Destroyer’s Acquisitions panel on 8th August.

Oh boy, Helldivers 2's Escalation of Freedom update already has would-be Super parents brainstorming Terminid baby names

Following yesterday's announcement of Helldivers 2's "biggest update yet", Escalation of Freedom, there's a lot to get excited about ahead of its arrival on August 6. Though, one of the new mission types that's set to arrive has players already doing something a bit bizarre — coming up with names for the Terminid babies they'll be carrying.

If you missed the update's reveal, you can check out a run-down of what it includes here — it should be music to your ears, especially if you've been desperate for a fresh challenge difficulty-wise or just in the form of new enemies. Meanwhile, if you've been thinking the game needs a bit more of a Death Stranding-style twist to it, you're also in luck.

You see, one of the new mission types outlined in the trailer below sees you tasked with picking up a little test-tube backpack and successfully delivering it to the extraction point. The problem is that it contains a Terminid larva, which'll make your job a harder by attracting swarms of protective bugs to attack you via its cries.
