HELLDIVERS™ 2 News

Helldivers 2's latest hotfix aims to free those trapped in infinite drop-in jail, as Arrowhead teases info on next warbond is coming "soonish"

If you've been trying to drop into a firefight in Helldivers 2 recently and have ended up getting stuck in an infinite loading screen loop, then good news. The game's latest hotfix is aimed squarely at stopping that from happening as much. Also, Arrowhead's teased that we might start getting some info on the next warbond "soonish".

As outlined in a set of patch notes that's mostly made up of the usual section on "Known Issues", Arrowhead's used patch 1.000.405 to specifically home in on one issue. It's those poor folks who've tried to join the action, but have ended up trapped in the hellpod drop-in loading screen, with it infinitely looping rather than the game allowing itself to move on the next stage of depositing affected divers in their planet of choice.

It's important to note that, while the fix "aims to reduce the number of people" currently being affected by the issue, it doesn't sound like Arrowhead's totally eliminated it, so you might need to file another bug report if you hop on today after updating and find that you're still experiencing the problem. It goes without saying, but if you do, please think of the poor folks who've got to read it, even if you're understandably frustrated.

Don't worry, even Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead's CEO has joined the campaign against patching out its lifesaving mid-air salutes

While there's still very much an MO to be getting on with in Helldivers 2 - in fact, the latest one is set to end in just over an hour's time as of writing - one discovery has been attracting a lot of attention in the community over the past day or so. It's the lifesaving mid-fall emote, and even Arrowhead's CEO thinks it's cool.

As we reported yesterday, while the ability to emote while flying through the air has been a known thing in the game for a few months, the fact that making your diver go rigid by adopting a pose like doing a salute or offering a hug can seemigly decrease the amount of fall damage you take by a significant amount wasn't.

Naturally, because this is such a funny way to avoid having your ragdolling soldier die when they splat back onto the surface, players on Reddit have urged Arrowhead not to patch it out of the game in a future update, even if it is technically an example of a system not doing what it should.

Helldivers 2 players have finally found an in-game quirk they don't want Arrowhead to patch out - lifesaving mid-air salutes and hugs

You won't believe this, but there's one bug in Helldivers 2 that players aren't planning on spending hours asking Arrowhead to fix, as has been the case a lot over the past few months. What makes this one different? Well, it's funny, basically.

Yup, unlike with the spear's troubles, or the Superior Packing Methodology not doing what it was supposed to, or the various performance issues folks have reported, this little quirk is getting off lightly. I suppose you will do if you give folks something to meme about that isn't just the fact they don't want some anti-tank mines they feared Arrowhead would sneakily give them the other day.

While it's been known for at least a couple of months now that helldivers who get launched up into the sky can emote in mid-air - dropping a salute or offering a hug when they should be ragdolling, players have recently discovered that doing so is seemingly a pretty reliable method of decreasing the amount of damage you take from falls.

Helldivers 2 players might be getting some fresh weaponry from the first game soon, cue a bunch of memes about anti-tank mines

The Major Order that Helldivers 2 have been plugging away at for the past couple of days is definitely proving to be an interesting one. The latest development in it seems to hint at some fresh weaponry from the first Helldivers potentially being incoming.

If you're out of the loop, the MO has tasked folks with holding on to the planet X-45, so the ruins of a "lost Advanced Weapons Lab from the First Galactic War", which was "working on development of a powerful interplanetary battle station" prior to it falling into disrepair, can be excavated. As you can imagine, that's gotten the ol' divers pretty interested.

As they work on doing just that, players have gotten a fresh strategic update, which reads as follows: "The first layer of rubble covering the advanced weapons lab on X-45 has been cleared. Initial reports show show the facility remains largely intact.
