Helldivers 2 Cutting Edge warbond is out, sparking fresh debate about the Illuminate faction

Helldivers 2's Cutting Edge Premium warbond, aka DLC battle pass, is now available to buy in-game, and it is chock-full of oddball gadgetry such as lightning shotguns, burst-fire laser rifles and experimental armour. As with the Arc Thrower stratagem, the lightning shotgun fires arcs of electricity that conduct between players and enemies alike, but there's a fresh armour perk, Electrical Conduit, which reduces arc damage by 95%, allowing close-knit teams of Helldivers to roll around the battlefield frazzling themselves without much penalty.

Still, I think the real star pick here is surely the Localization Confusion booster, which extends the time between enemy spawns, allowing weirdo solo players such as myself to disentangle from a dragged-out gunfight a little more gracefully.

With Fenrir 3 secured, Helldivers 2 players lock in on Turing, but they've still got a bad feeling about this

Now that the big goal in Helldivers 2 is to combat the Terminid menace, the forces of Super Earth have been busy swatting all manner of bugs. Fenrir III is the latest planet they’ve wrestled control of, but as the focus turns to Turing, a lot of folks are still wondering whether this major order will end up leading to more trouble down the line.

To be fair, now that they don’t have to worry as much about heavy enemies like chargers and definitely aren’t having to contend with some new flying bug foes (they are), folks have plenty of brain capacity to dedicate to worrying about the future - like we all do. That said, maybe there is reason to be just a little bit concerned.

Yes, Helldivers 2 keeps getting cool new stratagems because its devs get bored and chat about stuff like mechs

You know all those nice little stratagems you pack away in your little backpack whenever you take a nice little holiday to the alien-infested battlefields of Helldivers 2? Well, it turns out that the main impetus behind the game continually getting a steady stream of fresh ones is because its developers start getting tired of the current selection on offer.

To be fair, with the game’s worlds boasting hazards like heavy enemies that’ve thankfully now had their spawn rates tweaked to avoid being too overpowering and new flying bugs that definitely aren’t a thing (they are), having a regularly supply of fresh ways to deal with them’s pretty useful. It’s also pretty cool that they seem to be coming about via some casual chats the game’s devs keep having, presumably while mid-sandwich chomp during their lunch breaks.

Helldivers 2 definitely doesn't have flying bugs now, and players certainly aren't worried about Termicide

Good news, Helldivers 2 definitely does not have flying bug enemies now, even though a number of players have spotted them and provided video evidence. Also, there’s no reason to be concerned about what the chemicals being released as part of the game’s latest major order might be quietly doing to you or the environment..

Yup, we’re all doing fine, now that the chances of being ambushed by an overpowered gang of heavy enemies are a lot lower, even if folks might not have all been on the same page in terms of which planets to prioritise recently. Flying bugs in Helldivers 2, ok pal, good one, that’s definitely not a thing (it is).
