Did you dare to go offline and live in the real world last night? Sucks to be you as you probably missed an entire Helldivers 2 Major Order

Did you blink during that latter half of July 10, 2024? Well, if so, there's a good chance you missed an entire Helldivers 2 Major Order, as Arrowhead let folks celebrate securing some battle station plans by blowing through an entire bug-killing goal in record time.

We've known that the amount of stuff the forces of Super Earth can kill in quick sucession defies the laws of maths for a while now, but it's the first time in a little bit those bug-killing talents have been put on full display like this.

"After having handled the Automaton pressure upon X-45 with heroism and style that would make any Commando proud, it is time to test out their arsenal upon the Terminid scum, for science," read the brief for this latest order, which I'm only really quoting because you might have missed actually getting to read it, "The Helldivers are tasked with eliminating bugs using a variety of weaponry to stress the terminid population into controlled but accelerated evolution."

Helldivers 2's latest hotfix aims to free those trapped in infinite drop-in jail, as Arrowhead teases info on next warbond is coming "soonish"

If you've been trying to drop into a firefight in Helldivers 2 recently and have ended up getting stuck in an infinite loading screen loop, then good news. The game's latest hotfix is aimed squarely at stopping that from happening as much. Also, Arrowhead's teased that we might start getting some info on the next warbond "soonish".

As outlined in a set of patch notes that's mostly made up of the usual section on "Known Issues", Arrowhead's used patch 1.000.405 to specifically home in on one issue. It's those poor folks who've tried to join the action, but have ended up trapped in the hellpod drop-in loading screen, with it infinitely looping rather than the game allowing itself to move on the next stage of depositing affected divers in their planet of choice.

It's important to note that, while the fix "aims to reduce the number of people" currently being affected by the issue, it doesn't sound like Arrowhead's totally eliminated it, so you might need to file another bug report if you hop on today after updating and find that you're still experiencing the problem. It goes without saying, but if you do, please think of the poor folks who've got to read it, even if you're understandably frustrated.

Don't worry, even Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead's CEO has joined the campaign against patching out its lifesaving mid-air salutes

While there's still very much an MO to be getting on with in Helldivers 2 - in fact, the latest one is set to end in just over an hour's time as of writing - one discovery has been attracting a lot of attention in the community over the past day or so. It's the lifesaving mid-fall emote, and even Arrowhead's CEO thinks it's cool.

As we reported yesterday, while the ability to emote while flying through the air has been a known thing in the game for a few months, the fact that making your diver go rigid by adopting a pose like doing a salute or offering a hug can seemigly decrease the amount of fall damage you take by a significant amount wasn't.

Naturally, because this is such a funny way to avoid having your ragdolling soldier die when they splat back onto the surface, players on Reddit have urged Arrowhead not to patch it out of the game in a future update, even if it is technically an example of a system not doing what it should.
