Want to get in on Helldivers 2's latest Major Order? You'd better hurry, as it's about killing a billion bugs and over a hundred million are already toast

Oh no, you'd better run to Helldivers 2 as fast as you can. There's another Major Order about killing a bunch of things, and it's looking like it'll be over before you can say 'slow down Super Earth, you're supposed to savour it a bit or you might get indigestion'.

In case you don't get what I'm on about, Helldivers 2's player base has worked very hard to cultivate a reputation of being able to murder death things in incredibly rapid fashion. The first time it happened, people were so confused they started trying to do maths. More recently, they blew through an entire MO in one evening and then started wondering if Arrowhead had accidentally set the required kills total too low. These people do not play - well, they do, but you get what I mean.

After landing some temporary free mech ride tickets via their last victory, the MO that's followed is a nice break from both fighting to control planets and battling the automatons. "Following the Helldivers' inspiringly rapid support of the Terminid Research Initiative, the Ministry of Science has requested a second, much larger research trial," it reads. "A key finding of the first research phase was that Terminid E-710 yield is significantly increased if harvested following periods of extreme duress.

After Helldivers 2 players clutched the latest Major Order with less than an hour left, Arrowhead's temporarily pulled the trigger on free mechs

Helldivers 2 left it a little late to pull out a victory in the game's latest Major Order, but they've still delivered, leading Arrowhead to reward this tenacity in the face of the Automaton hordes by temporarily making the use of one of the game's exosuits totally free.

Yup, while some divers have been a bit distracted lately by potential warbond leaks and cool demakes, the collective force has still managed to persude Arrowhead to give them a nice prezzie. You love to see it.

If you're out of the loop, this latest MO saw folks challenged to press the advantage after succesfully splitting the Automaton forces right down the middle like the pants of someone at a party drunkenly attempting the splits. This required the securing of three planets all beginning with Ch - Charon Prime, Charbal VII, and Choepessa IV - by the divers.

Helldivers 2 has been transformed into a 16-bit arcade classic via a demake concept, and its creators would be open to making it a proper mini-game

If you've ever wondered what Helldivers 2 might have looked like if it'd come out back in the 90s, as a lot of the media that inspires its central themes and narratives did, you're in luck. Some fans have made a concept for a 16-bit demake of it, and would even be open to working with Arrowhead to make their creation an actual in-game activity.

While the fresh Major Orders keep rolling in, some divers have been a bit distracted lately by datamines and potential warbond leaks. Sadly, by showing you this, I doubt I'll be helping increase your focus on routing the Automatons now the strategy of dividing their forces in two has worked.

Without further adieu, here's 64 Bits' Helldivers 2 demake for Neo Geo/Arcades, which you can watch a video of below. While it's just a teaser of a project that's been in the works over on Newgrounds, it's been put together by a team that've got plenty of experience doing this kind of thing.

Some info about Helldivers 2's next warbond looks to have leaked via misbehaving PlayStation notifications

A little bit of information about an unreleased Helldivers 2 warbond looks to have leaked via some PlayStation notifications that aren't doing what they're supposed to. These messages contain just a few details about a gear pack that sounds like it'll be right up the alley of twisted firestarters.

Over the past few hours, a number of players have taken to Helldivers 2 subreddit to post a PlayStation new notifaction they've recieved. In all of these posts, the ping comes with the heading Viper Commandos, which is obviously the name of the last warbond Arrowhead deployed for the game.

The text underneath that title, however, defintely seems to pertain to a different warbond, possibly the next one that's set to arrive.
