Helldivers 2 devs taking "more time" to cook up its next weapon balancing patch, with an Eruptor revamp on many wishlists

While Helldivers 2 players still have plenty of enemies to cut down in order to accplish the game's least Major Order, plenty are already thinking about what they'd like to see from Arrowhead's next bout of weapon balancing. The Eruptor looks to be a the top of a lot of their lists, but it looks like they could be waiting a little while, with Arrowhead suggesting that it still needs a bit more time to cook up something good.

While things have been chugging on just fine in-game, even now that we're into the Second Galactic War all of a sudden, some of the game's recent patches have left some vocal players a bit underwhelmed. That said, a recently announced reversion of enemy spawn rates to their pre-patch state went down pretty well, so here's hoping this next batch of weapon revamps can do the same, even if pleasing everyone's impossible.

Responding to a player in Helldivers 2's Discord server asking whether there'll be another weapon balancing patch arriving soon, community manager Twinbeard simply responded: "More time. We're cooking." The player response to this looks to be bit mixed. Some have applauded the studio for taking more time to test things out before setting them in stone than it seemigly has with a few of the game's recent tweaks and updates, while others are citing a lack of faith in the studio's ability to cook up a balacing patch that'll earn their seal of approval.

After Helldivers 2 players come up short in latest Major Order, Arrowhead casually declares that "The Second Galactic War" is upon us

Hello. Helldivers 2's community failed its last Major Order. Sorry I had to break that to you. Anyway, now Arrowhead says that all of the fighting up until this point - an entire war's worth, was just the prelude to "The Second Galactic War" which has just kicked off.

While they did manage to kill a lot of bugs - enough to make Helldivers 2's very impressive sales numbers look tiny in comparison, players have been enduring a bit of harder fight as of late, though things should at least get a bit less frustrating via a spawn rate revamp that's coming soon. For now thoough, get your correctly coloured Tenderizer ready, the second war has begun.

In a war update posted to Helldivers 2's Discord server, community manager Baskinator got the honour of delaring this new era's commencement, in typical Helldivers style - and by that I mean dripping with ironic humour. "After five days of intense decommissioning of Automatons into scrap metal for use in advanced anti-tank mines, the Helldivers came 78% towards the stated goal of 2 billion dead bots," they wrote, adding: "This means that the new stratagem will continue to elude the Helldiver arsenal for now..."

Helldivers 2 players rally around an unlikely hero who just wanted to make friends

When they’re not banding together to take on Sony or attempting to reinstate fired community managers, it turns out that Helldivers 2 players just want to make sure everyone feels included. Included in the co-op game’s endless war of attrition to protect Super Earth from bugs, robots, and basic awareness of military propaganda, and included in just having mates. Enter player ‘dremskiy’, whose tragic booting from a private game in which they just wanted to make friends has resulted in so many friend requests that their Steam account won’t accept any more.

Helldivers 2 devs plan to revamp enemy spawn rates again, as more baddies than intended continue to overwhelm folks

Players, especially those going solo or in smaller parties, feeling a bit overrun by the sheer number of bugs or bots swarming them during some missions in Helldivers 2 has been an issue for a little while now. Thankfully, now Arrowhead's got some time on its hands again, it's planning on looking into switching up spawn rates again, with the aim of getting them into a window the community likes.

Prior to the whole hoohah regarding PSN and Steam account linking - which folk are hoping one of the features in yesterday's patch might mark the end of - another patch had tweaked spawn rates. Now, it looks like they're headed back to something like their pre-patch state.

Arrowhead's revealed its plans to revamp how many baddies and patrols the game will fling at you at once via an announcement in Helldivers 2's Discord server by community manager Twinbeard. "As many of you have noticed, something has been off with patrols and spawn rate for some time now," they wrote, "This primarily leads to more enemies rearing their ugly heads than they're supposed to, indirectly to players feeling overrun, kiting, and subsequently less fun gameplay."
