Helldivers 2's reward system will be overhauled soon, but some players’ automaton battle plans really aren’t that medal worthy

As we all know, the main reason you go to war - in real life or in Helldivers 2 - isn't because you actually believe in the cause, it's because you're hoping to bag a nice medal and a pat on the head from some commander after watching your mates die. Thankfully, due to some recent issues with medals in Arrowhead's online shooter, it looks like the entire system that brings such rewards to you will be getting an overhaul soon.

If you're out of the loop, when it's come to folks actually getting the medals they've earned by fighting valiantly in major orders and not just goofing around having snowball fights, there's sometimes been a bit of a delay in that actually happening. The game's developers, though, look to have a plan to sort it permanently.

Taking to the game's official Discord server, community manager Twinbeard provided an update for those still yet to recieve some of their spoils from recent campaigns. "Medals for two of the latest three major orders have now been shipped," the write, adding that the last batches should drop some time today, April 10.

Helldivers 2's intro just got a new behind the scenes look, and yes, there's a goofy close up of the guy screaming as his family gets murdered

Ok, so, you know that bit in Helldivers 2's now iconic intro cinematic where one minute, everything's fine, and the next some poor man's screaming because a Terminid is killing his family right in from of him? Well, thanks to a new behind-the-scenes video from the company that made the sequence, you can now enjoy a hilarious ultra close up of the mo-cap for that scene.

Yes, it's a weekday and we're casually reccomending that you take time out of your day, minutes of your life that you'll never get back, to watch a man scream into a camera while dressed in the slightly silly clothing that a lot of modern games, films, and shows require. Look, it's a bit funny, ok? I promise.

To see this bit of screaming, you'll need to check out a new behind-the-scenes video that Goodbye Kansas Studios, the Swedish VFX studio that worked on the game's intro alongside Arrowhead, has just put out. It's not too long, but offers some interesting glimpses at the motion capture and modelling that went into bringing the intro to life in a fashion that's not just people in funny suits running around with gun props.

Saber Interactive:

Don’t worry, your precious Helldivers 2 platinum trophy is now achievable again after all - probably

Hold on to your Space Earth military helmet, Helldivers 2's automatons have just returned, you know, literally a day or so after they were soundly defeated and believed to be eradicated by players. Sadly, that doesn't look to be the case, as the bots have just launched a fresh assault on a bunch of planets.

If you're out of the hoop, here's a quick rundown of what's been happening in Helldivers lately: players fight automatons, automatons get defeated, arrowhead says automatons are gone forever, no one believes that - especially since it means game's PS5 platinum trophy would seemigly be unearnable going forwards, players fight bugs, players get close to defeating bugs, automatons return. Now, I'm gonna remember to take a breath.

The return of the automatons was announced via the game's official Twitter account. "Somehow, the Automatons returned," Arrowhead wrote, not doubt via a social media manager laughing at their own Star Wars reference.
