[Update April 8] Sunset in Maple World

The sun is setting in Maple World, and to celebrate the legacy of the game, the MapleStory 2 team wanted to make a few meaningful changes for anyone who wants to enjoy their remaining time here. We're immensely thankful for the support and feedback over the last year and a half, and hope that everyone is able to take at least one positive memory with them from our game. Starting after the maintenance on March 18th, a number of events will begin to help support anyone who wishes to play or try out MapleStory 2 in the final two months.
Dungeon Entry Limit Removed
- The daily and weekly limits of looting dungeons and raids have been removed from the following instance types.
- All Normal Adventure Dungeons
- Lv. 50/60/70 Hard Adventure Dungeons
- Lv. 50/60/70 Normal Chaos Raids
- Lv. 50/60/70 Hard Chaos Raids
- Eye of Lapenta
- The Dungeon Reset button has been reactivated. Using this button will allow you 30 additional Normal/Hard Adventure Dungeon runs of 3x loot during the week. The button does not work with Chaos Raids or the Eye of Lapenta.
- The first 30 Normal/Hard Adventure Dungeons of the week will provide 3x the usual loot. This is still limited to 15 per day. Additional clears after the daily limit will yield 1x loot.
- The first 6 of each Normal/Hard Chaos Raids of the week will provide 3x the usual loot. This is still limited to 3 per day. Additional clears after the daily limit will yield 1x loot.
- The UI will show when you've reached the max amount of rewards for the day or the week, however you can disregard this. You will continue to earn loot indefinitely for every completed instance.
Mass Dismantling
- We know that with these changes, Maplers will have a lot of gear to dismantle from the abundance of loot they'll be acquiring.
- We've added an early version of the mass dismantling function which will allow you to press one button to add all items of a certain rarity from your inventory into the dismantling UI.
- The UI currently shows that you can dismantle outfits but this is incorrect, so please disregard this.
- Please be careful with the feature and take care not to dismantle anything valuable by accident, such as named boss accessories!
Hide-and-Seek Returns
- Hide-and-Seek returns on the weekends (UTC), activating at the 15-minute mark of each hour.
- Requirements: Must be Lv. 10 or higher to participate.
- Game Rules:
- Teams are decided after an introduction and 5-second countdown once the instance is locked in.
- Hiders will be immediately sent into the play area, transformed into a random object, and given 30 seconds to hide. You can hold the Control key to change the direction you're facing without moving.
- A minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 15 players are needed to start the event.
- The number of seekers depends on the total amount of players in the game.
- 2 Players: 1 seeker
- 3-5 Players: 2 seeker
- 6-8 Players: 3 seekers
- 9-11 Players: 4 seekers
- 12-15 Players: 5 seekers
- After 30 seconds, seekers are sent in to look for hiders. Hiders can continue to move during this time at the risk of being seen.
- Seekers can throw snails to try to hit hiders, but be aware that hitting a real object will result in losing 1 HP (10 HP total).
- In the final 20 seconds of the match, seekers can attack without loss of HP!
- When successfully hitting a hider, seekers gain back HP.
- Players are limited to using party chat within their teams for communicating.
- Defeated players will be sent out to a spectator area.
- Experience points are earned based on your team:
- Seekers earn EXP for each hider they defeat.
- Hiders earn EXP for surviving to certain time segments of the match.
- Rewards:
- 1x Kay’s Coin is given to each team regardless of win or loss.
- Victory rewards an additional 2x Kay's Coins (3 total).
- Defeat rewards an additional 1x Kay's Coins (2 total).
Kay's Spectacular Wheel
- MC Kay is sad to see you go, but won't let you leave without a mountain of goodies. Kay's modifying his prize wheel for you to spend your mini-game tokens on! The new prize wheel will stay until the game's closure on May 27th.
- The wheel costs 1x Kay's Coin to spin. It can be found next to Ruby and Bobby in Queenstown. There are no limits to how many times you can spin it.
- Kay's Coins can be obtained from participating in MC Kay's mini-games at the 5-minute and 35-minute mark of every hour, as well as Hide-and-Seek at the 15-minute mark of every hour on weekends.
- Fantastic Gemstones are a more powerful version of the normal Gemstones that you socket into your accessories. They cost more dust to upgrade but provide slightly more stats per tier.
- Assembling 15x Chic Salon Vouchers will let you select a Royal hairstyle for free from Lolly at Rosetta's Beauty Salon.
- Aetherine Cores are spent at Norman's Aetherine Supply Shop at Safehold.
- The old rewards from the wheel are no longer obtainable.
MapleStory Welcoming Event
- For those adventurers seeking a new Maple home or want to return to it, we'll be holding a special welcoming event where MapleStory 2 players will be able to receive special rewards for starting or continuing their journey in the original MapleStory!
- [Update April 8] Check out all the details of the Maple Welcome Events on it's official post here!
MapleStory 2 Art & Music
- MapleStory 2 is a wonderfully imaginative game with a charming, unique aesthetic. Its artwork and creative design are arguably one of its strongest suits. In order to preserve the game's culture, we are working on a space where players can download art and music from the game officially!
- These include soundtracks, illustrations, NPC art, and more! Tons of creative assets that have never been seen before.
- Check back in later! We will provide an update later on where you can access these files.
Closing Words
Once again, thank you all for joining us on this journey. It was a wonderful one for us, and we're immensely grateful that you all contributed towards shaping the game in unique ways. We hope that these events will allow anyone to be able to jump in and enjoy the game to its fullest in the little time we have remaining, so that they can comfortably end their chapter in MapleStory 2. On behalf of our team here at Nexon America, we wish you all the best of luck wherever your adventures take you next.
Faithfully,
- The MapleStory 2 Team
