Dota 2 gets new battle pass goodies with Toy Butcher persona and announcer packs

Following the launch of the Dota 2 International 10 Collector's Cache Volume II earlier this week, another content drop for the MOBA game's battle pass has arrived in-game. A brand-new persona has arrived for a certain Meat Hook-wielding Hero - complete with a new character model and VO - along with a new announcer pack tying into the upcoming tournament.

The new Dota 2 persona pack is for lucky Hero Pudge, and re-imagines him as 'The Toy Butcher'. It's pretty close to the concept art for the skin Valve revealed along with the battle pass itself earlier this year, though there are a couple of key changes in the character model, which really bring Pudge's spooky persona as a barely-stitched together doll on a mission to life. His spray of lurid green hair is intact, though it's now a bundle of fibrous ragdoll hair atop Pudge's puckered, glaring face. Gulp.

Requirements for picking up the new persona pack are pretty high - you'll need to reach level 255 - but it does include "an all-new model, animations, and voice performance", Valve announces.

From deep inside the toy box, a frightening plaything joins the fray. Available now to all Battle Pass owners who reach level 255, the new Toy Butcher Persona for Pudge features an all-new model, animations, and voice performance.

Feared amongst the fluff-stuffed denizens of the toy box, The Toy Butcher stalks the corners and shadows of the bin, always on the hunt for his next kill. Every toy knows that once the butcher gets his hook in you, your stuffing and your life are forfeit - like as not to be left strewn about the lanes as the plushy monster jaunts happily away from your lonely, ragged remains.

Claim the new persona now in your Battle Pass and don't forget to pick up the Voice of The International Announcer Pack on your way, available to all Battle Pass Owners at level 75 and above, to herald your next victory.

Gorgc, OG's first Dota 2 streamer, leaves after seven months

Janne 'Gorgc' Stefanovski, OG's first full time streamer, has left the team after just seven months. He announced the decision on Twitter earlier today, but has not as of yet offered any suggestion on his next steps.

Gorgc said the decision had been weighing heavy on him, but after several back and forths between himself and the organisation, Gorgc says no long term solution could be found, despite everyone's best efforts. In his statement, he writes "unfortunately what we set out doing in the start of me signing with OG to cast their games, has changed a lot when they started being involved in organising tournaments."

It appears though that his departure is on good terms, with Gorgc adding "I have literally nothing but love for the players on OG and am grateful to have had the chance to work so closely with them all. I wish them nothing but the best and still support them as a team, but officially we just have to part ways."

Dota 2's The International prize pool hits $33 million

The prize pool for The International 10 has surpassed $33 million and remains on the rise. After having a set prize pool for the first two years of its existence, the tournament shifted to crowd funding in its third year and has seen the prize pool rise year on year.

As of today, the prize money stands at $33,488,271, which is still slightly below last year's record breaking total of $34,330,068. However, at this stage last year, the prize pool was on $31 million, suggesting that this year's will be yet another record breaking pool for the winners as the cash continues to pour in.

The Dota 2 tournament was due to take place this month, as has happened every other year, but has since been pushed back to 2021 because of the pandemic. Valve are yet to confirm concrete dates for the rearranged tournament, but with the money still coming it, TI 10 looks set to have the biggest prize pool ever.
