Update 0.8.2

We are happy to announce that Golf It! is now available for MacOS. Finally, it doesn’t matter if you wanna play it on Windows, Linux or Mac – we can all golf it together. As always, we are happy about your feedback.



For now, M1 processors are not tested and therefore not officially supported.

[h2]New Assets[/h2]
UnknownMaster21, longtime power user and moderator, created over 600 new lane pieces and made them available for everyone. You can find them inside the “User Content” folder of our editors asset browser. Thanks again UnknownMaster21 for your awesome contributions!



[h2]What’s next: User Interface[/h2]
Over the last couple of years Golf It! significantly grew in every aspect. But, as so often, our initial concept of a user interface doesn’t handle all the new stuff gracefully. Therefore, it’s time for a substantial rework.
Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll work on improving the user experience, by updating every single interface. If you want to follow the development, join our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/perfuse Every now and then we’ll post a sneak peek and listen carefully for your feedback.

We are happy to announce that Golf It! finally goes VR. Today’s update unlocks the option to launch Golf It! in VR when hitting the play button. You will be able to play together with friends, even if they are not playing in VR.

Have fun, exploring our official and community made maps from a completely new perspective.



[h2]Which VR devices are supported?[/h2]

Theoretically you can use every device supported by SteamVR and OculusHMD, but we haven’t got the chance to test every device yet.

Supported devices:
  • HTC Vive, Pro and Cosmos
  • Valve Index
  • Oculus Rift
Not yet tested:
  • Oculus Quest 1 / 2
  • Oculus Rift S

To provide an enjoyable VR experience we massively improved the performance of Golf It!. All the implemented improvements affect both, VR and non-VR, as well as custom and official maps.

Update 0.8.0 pre



After months of work we are close to release our first VR build. Something many of you requested since we have launched our greenlight campaign. And there is even more new stuff going to be included in Update 0.8.0. This update is all about preparation.

Engine Update

In order to deliver a better VR experience we had to update the version of our game engine. This time the update was awful, since it had a huge impact on the physical behavior of our game. To guarantee that every custom map still works as intended - which is our top priority - we had to put a lot of effort into this process.

[h2]So what is this update about?[/h2]
This “pre” update is all about quality assurance. After days of testing, we are confident that everything runs smoothly. The only uncertainty is the behavior of your setup. That is why this update only contains the engine update and the following improvements:

  • Significant collision improvements
  • More consistent shooting behavior
  • Scoreboard additions
  • Spectator fixes
    Much faster update cycle

[h2]What if it’s broken?[/h2]
If you encounter something broken, please tell us. The best way is to enter our Discord: https://discord.gg/perfuse
If things are terribly broken, you can switch to our legacy branch. This can be done by right-clicking “Golf It!” in your Steam Library > Properties. Click on “Betas” and change the “NONE” branch to “legacy”.

Roadmap

After VR has been released, mac will be our next milestone. Meanwhile, we will continue to release more asset packs and improve our editor. Everything else is top secret. ;)
