VAIL VR Coming Soon on Steam

These years after releasing Water Planet game we've been back in the studio working on VAIL VR.

In the near future, on a blighted Earth, the claim to the human legacy is diverging. With the world in flux, many have chosen to move to the orbiting Colony which serves as a springboard for the next phase of life.

Conglomerate REYAB asserts the rights to what's left behind, and aims to protect and maintain their holdings. From time to time, Colonists are deployed back to Earth to digitize artifacts and heritage sites under REYAB protection.

Armed with dissent, what matters most begins to blur . . .

New Update Now Live!

Hi all, there is now a fresh update for Water Planet addressing requests and reports:

Update Changelist:
  • Fixed a difficult to reproduce issue where checkpoint recall could act unreliably for some users.
  • Upgraded game engine to a more performant build, this was done to offer better performance in the prospective Mac release but will benefit all platforms!
  • Other minor performance optimizations

New feature:
  • Whalie can now be picked up in Desktop mode, making it much easier to free him. ːwhalieː

Also worth re-mentioning:
  • The last update brought the Checkpoint System! This was by far the most requested feature to date.

Minor feature to arrive in next update:
  • An option that will allow strafing with the Vive via a launch parameter (-vivestrafeon) which will could be helpful for those using VR treadmills and other accessibility devices.

Please note that the Gamepad (i.g. XBox Controller) works in both VR and desktop modes, but we still plan to fulfill the above request. ːaquajellyfishː

Best wishes and happy first day of December!

New Update: Checkpoint System

Update Change List:
  • Added community requested save feature (there are 4 checkpoints which can be unlocked once passed, they are titled by the 4 songs and can be accessed from the menu level)
  • Holding the run key in Desktop mode now increases swim speed when underwater
  • Other minor improvements

More about the saved checkpoints system:
We're happy to announce a new checkpoint system that saves your progress between levels. You will now be able to revisit any level of the game as you unlock each checkpoint. We hope this new system makes for a more enjoyable experience while visiting Water Planet.

Checkpoints are titled after the four main songs in Water Planet:
  1. 622514
  2. Dissolve
  3. hologamma
  4. Disappear

Scenes from the levels will appear inside the display orbs. When you near a display orb, the level name will appear and you may now enter that level by either pressing "E" or the corresponding "Interact" control on the game-pad or VR Controllers.
