September News

How is everyone doing? It's been a busy month but we've been making steady progress. In fact, we can finally reveal some exciting news... at the end of this post ;)
What are we up to right now?
We can tell you that we're participating in the Tokyo Game Show this year, with some awesome news! If you aren't following the event, you can find it at the end of this post as well. The Tokyo Game Show is always an exciting event with some big announcements and trailers to enjoy - and we're always curious to see what's popular in other parts of the world. We'd love to attract new We Were Here fans from Japan and Asia more generally! If you'd like to check out the event yourself, Inverse has a nice article on how and when to watch.

Which announcements are you hyped for?

How the show looked in years past. It's all online for 2020.
Are you a notetaker?
Some of the puzzles in our games can be more easily solved with the aid of pen and paper, as player QAQAQAQAQ has discovered. Some great drawings here!

We're pleased to see people taking notes, because the We Were Here series is inspired in part by the legacy of classic adventure game Myst - did you know that Myst actually came with a notepad in the game box itself! You can see a cool image of someone's notes from this fun Reddit thread!
Last but not least...
We have a great announcement for console fans today - those of you following our social media might already have figured it out - the We Were Here series is coming to PlayStation 4 soon! No dates yet, but we'll let you know whenever we have something firmed up. Follow our social media for all the latest news and We Were Here developments! And don't forget: keep your eyes open, because we will probably have more hidden messages in the coming months...

Do you see the circle in this image? There were four other images that had a triangle, cross and square. Put them together, and you got the PS4 controller buttons!

Soundtrack sale, animated library banners, and more!

Video game music aficionados get some good news this week, as both our We Were Here and We Were Here Together OSTs are on sale! That's not all though...
Spice up your Steam library!
We made some pretty animated library capsules for our games. You can download our cool library capsules here!

To add them, go to your Steam library, find the game in the shelves to the right (not in the summary list), and right click on it. Then choose Manage > Set custom artwork, and choose your image! You could even make every game in your library look like We Were Here, if you wanted.
Get We Were Here soundtracks on Steam!
We recently released the We Were Here Together soundtrack, featuring 16 tracks and more than an hour of music! There's even a double discount on right now, with 10% off the newly released We Were Here Together soundtrack and a 25% discount on the We Were Here OST. Check it out!

April News
In case you missed it...
We announced a handy new way to communicate if you happen to find yourself stranded in the Antarctic earlier this month on April 1st.
Linux and VR support updates
Regretfully, we are announcing that we will no longer support Linux going forward. We know this will come as a disappointment to some of you, but it simply isn't practical to provide support considering how quickly the software is changing and the limited number of people who actually use Linux to play We Were Here games.

The same goes for VR. It's such a cool technology that it deserves to be done right, and we don't have the resources for that in the foreseeable future. The VR mode for We Were Here was made some time ago now, and VR tech has come a long way since then! It doesn't reflect our capabilities today, so we will be taking it offline.

Now to share some more cheerful bits and pieces, like...
Fantastic fan art!
We love this fridge art by player Nanofu!

Cool stuff by Fenris.
Exciting things in the future
We can't wait to share what we've been working on! Thanks to everyone who filled out the We Were Here survey, we've been going carefully through the results and there's a lot of valuable feedback there. Also some amusing details, like the fact there are 193 people (20% of respondents) who claim that 'jump scares' are what they enjoy most in puzzles. Make of that what you will...
That's it for now! We'll leave you with this great screenshot taken by player Fuego Fatuo...
Cheers!

Merry Christmas!

'Tis the season! Christmas is almost here! To celebrate, we have released an update for We Were Here Together on Steam. The explorers have set up the Christmas tree inside the basecamp of We Were Here Together and are looking forward to opening up their presents, but before they can do that, you and your co-op partner will have to figure out how to turn on the lights! You might find yourself in places you’ve never been before….

The We Were Here Together update also brings a host of improvements and fixes - read the full changelog here!

We Were Here and We Were Here Too launched on Xbox One this year as well! Overall it's been a great 2019 for Total Mayhem Games, and we'd like to thank you all for your support!
