My name is [GM]Maslan and I'm here to give a few pieces of advice to help you settle into the world of Black Desert. I know the game may seem overwhelming at first, but that's why I'm here today to help you out!


[h2]Choosing the Class For Me[/h2]
Let's start with picking a class!
Black Desert has a total of 26 different classes available for play. A few tips on picking a class:

● Create a Trial Character. Trial characters allow you try test a class at full strength in a private arena.
● Most classes offers different avenues of growth for each of its classes through Succession or Awakening.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎➤ If you choose Succession, you will continue playing with the class' main weapon playstyle.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎➤ If you choose Awakening, you will find yourselves wielding a new type of weapon known as an Awakening Weapon, which gives you the option to explore a whole new style of gameplay.
● You get 6 character slots upon account creation. Didn't a fan of the first class you picked? Just make another!
● During the Season, you will be given a special item called a Fughar's Timepiece.
This item allows you to copy the Combat XP and Skill XP of your Season character to a new one! (Once per Family)
This nets you two high level characters while doing the work of one. 😎 Use this item if you're interested in trying out another class during Season.

[hr][/hr][h2]Basic Gameplay Tips![/h2]
● You can freely move your mouse by clicking the Ctrl key.
● Click T to auto-navigate on the highlighted path/arrow.
● Open the map by clicking M. You can right-click a part of the map to set a path to navigate to that spot.

[hr][/hr][h2]Main Questline[/h2]
Alright. So you finished the tutorial and now you're stuck at this screen:


If it's your first time playing Black Desert, I highly recommend creating a Season Character and following the Ancient Stone Chamber questline. You can follow the main questline through the quest widget on the right side of the screen or via the Quests window (O). This questline sets you on a path that gives you the most character and account progression. The Mountain of Eternal Winter questline is a more story-driven questline. You can come back to it at a later date on your character if you're interested.

Also make sure to complete the challenges on the Season Pass. The Season Pass will also point you towards various activities that will be beneficial for your character and account progression. Plus the challenges come with nice rewards!

[hr][/hr][h2]Customizing the UI[/h2]
Black Desert lets you see all the basic, useful, and necessary information on the heads-up display (HUD). This information visible on screen can be modified via the Edit UI feature found in the main menu. Certain windows of the interface can also be moved outside of the game proper, allowing you to customize your screen’s use thanks to the Sticker UI feature.
‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎➤ Please note, you’ll only be able to customize your UI once you have reached level 10.

Steps for customizing your UI:

1. Press the ESC key to access the main menu.
   
2. Click on the Edit UI button or search "Edit UI"
   
3. Edit as much as you'd like!
   

★ GM Tip: I find "Combat Focus Mode" to be the best starting point to edit your UI. It's clean, simple, and is my personal favorite.

[hr][/hr][h2]Inventory/Storage Management[/h2]
Each character has 24 inventory slots starting out, which might not be enough to hold all your items. Most of your items should be placed in a town or city storage. Throughout your questing, you will able to expand your inventory and storage in a multitude of ways. Here are a few storage and inventory tips!

• Use those Inventory Expansion coupons! The Black Spirit will reward you with free slots just for questing! Simply right-click on the item in your inventory to use it.
  
  • You can find the Inventory Expansion quests available to you by opening the Quest menu (O). Click the "Suggested" tab and find a quest group labeled [ADV Support] - Inventory Expansion to see these quests.
• Take advantage of your City storage! You don't need to take everything with you! Feel free to dump whatever you don't need at a city or town storage and come back later.
  
• Take advantage of your Central Market Warehouse. The Central Market Warehouse can also be used as a storage to hold sellable items up to a certain weight limit.
  
• Set a headquarters and organize! Veteran time players will usually place certain items in specific cities. For example, some players will keep all their life skill-related items in Velia and keep all their monster loot in Heidel.
  
• Use the Search Tool. You can search for items directly from your inventory or from a city storage.
