IMPORTANT: Early Access Saves 📝
Hey there, Islandvillers!
[p][/p][p]I've been pretty busy "doing the codes" with Jerry Bot (It's what he calls coding). Him and I have been optimizing, adding new content and working on many quality of life fixes over the last year. Ever since Jerry Bot learned "the computers" over the last few seasons he thinks he is a coder now because he figured out how to change the dinger on his digital door chime at the Gas and Go. So I just tell him he is helping... :)
This new 1.0 version marks a new era for The Coin Game. A new higher standard of quality. (I want to say a BIG thanks to the QA Beta testing crew and all staff in the background at Kwalee and Hyper Luminal. They are amazing and the backbone of a good bug free game. My old bugs reports were written in crayon on napkins before you all showed up. I could not have done this without you all. BIG Thank you.) In the new version I re-adjusted and tweaked almost all machines and optimized the whole island of interactive objects. We even managed to open up more space to add a little more content in the future. Even though this is "1.0", you all know me and know that I will always be making new content. The Coin Games 1.0 status means I just take it a little more serious and polish it a little brighter. I still have so many ideas on paper and in my head that its just too hard to stop. [/p][p][/p][p]Throughout this rebuild journey I had to make many decisions: What to rebuild? What to keep? What to make better? It wasn't easy but the one single thing that needed the update the most was the Unity Engine as it was going on almost 9 years old now. Now The Coin Game is running on a fresh new 2025 version and it's running better than it ever has.... and with that I need to share some important news regarding your old Early Access save files. [/p][p][/p][p]Existing Early Access save files will not be compatible with the V1.0 update. I know... I know... Its not the best news but the new version saves differently and old save files just wont transfer to this new engine. This is due to the game's underlying old save system being rebuilt from scratch. As the game grew through Early Access, I kept hitting technical limits that were killing performance and stopping me from adding all the content/features I wanted. Also Multiplayer (when its finished) will use many of the features of the new engine.... but more about that later in the year. Lets stay focused on the single player 1.0 launch for now. ;) [/p]
All is not lost!
[p]We know how much time and love you’ve poured into your current worlds/characters/saves. So in order to preserve your valuable time wasting investment we have arranged to keep some old builds live for vintage prize collectors. This way you and Gary can revisit your old favorite pile of old plushies in the Kitchen.
So when V1.0 launches, we will be opening a "Legacy" branch on Steam. You will be able to opt into this branch to continue playing the final Early Access version of the game and finish your current Early Access run. The save files will be completely separate from new ones... so feel free to play either one. [/p][p][/p]
How to access your old saves:
[p]In your Steam Library:[/p]
- [p]Right-Click on The Coin Game[/p]
- [p]Select Properties[/p]
- [p]Select "Game Versions & Betas" and you will see a Game Version called "legacy"[/p]
- [p]Select "legacy"[/p]
- [p]Wait for the game to update[/p]
And final note... My producer at Kwalee has helped me port The Coin Game to your favorite game consoles in 12 different languages.. I spent the last month sitting on my couch tuning it in for controllers.... So if if you love siting on couches instead of office chairs... we got your favorite time waster covered on consoles as well.
