The Dark Congregation Rises ⚔️: Developement Update

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p][/p][p]Sorry for the late update — it’s been another super busy week working on Adventure Craft.[/p][p]This week I’ve been continuing work on The Dark Congregation, a powerful boss enemy that lurks deep within the underground cave system. My main focus this week has been on creating the sound effects for this chaotic fight. And working on the supporting characters that join the battle.[/p][p][/p][p]Here’s a short clip of the battle so you can check out how the sounds are coming along! It’s a frantic, high-energy fight with explosions, magical attacks, and non-stop action. (Thankfully I'm invincible in debug mode) [/p][p][/p][p]Balancing the sound mix has been a real challenge, but I’m excited to share how it’s shaping up:[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]The Boss Arena is surrounded by Dark Golden Cathedrals, which continuously spawn Dark Followers and Dark Worshippers.[/p]
 • [p]🟡 Yellow Dark Worshippers transform into Crystal Mines shortly after spawning (or when they’re killed). You can use this to your advantage when dealing with the swarms of enemies flooding the fight.[/p]
 • [p]🎩 Some Dark Worshippers have little hats. They’ll try to bite anyone they can reach, and whoever gets bitten gains a temporary boost of Strength… including you![/p]
[p][/p][p]One of the Dark Congregation’s attacks unleashes a devastating lightning strike. ⚡[/p][p][/p][p]Stepping onto the shadow it leaves behind will trigger falling rocks. These boulders can come crashing down on your head… or on the heads of the countless pursuers chasing you through the fight. Use this to your advantage — but tread carefully![/p][p][/p][p]Near the battle you’ll discover Golden Trees, which can be harvested for Golden Syrup. Golden Syrup can be crafted into Golden Apples, granting you temporary invincibility when eaten.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You’ll also find syrup-covered buildings scattered throughout the area. Destroying them is another way to collect this rare and powerful ingredient — just don’t get swarmed while you’re harvesting![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]During the fight, military soldiers armed with handguns and Uzis will frequently spawn. They’re neutral allies who focus their firepower on the boss, which can really help you out.[/p][p][/p][p]⚠️ But be careful — if you attack them, they’ll turn on you. These soldiers constantly throw grenades and scatter landmines as they desperately try to bring down the monster. Sometimes they’re as dangerous as the enemies themselves![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Soldiers and other humanoid mobs risk being transformed into golden statues if they’re struck by one of the Dark Congregation’s projectile attacks. 🪙✨ [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This effect can quickly turn the battlefield into a glittering graveyard of fallen warriors that you will be able to farm these statues for rare loot drops.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You are able to turn the tide of battle by using the chaos of the fight to your advantage. Explosions, lightning strikes, and environmental hazards can quickly overwhelm enemies — or even the Dark Congregation itself. Timing your movements and strikes just right can lead to spectacular chain reactions that wipe out mobs, soldiers, and even deal heavy damage to the boss.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That’s all for this update! Thank you so much for taking the time to read through and follow along with the development of Adventure Craft. Every bit of feedback, enthusiasm, and support helps keep this project alive and growing! [/p][p][/p][p]James - @iENDERi[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

The Dark Congregation Rises! Weekly Update

[p]Hi! [/p][p]This week I continue working on the cave system and its inhabitants. My current focus is the monster known as The Dark Congregation.[/p][p][/p]
The Dark Congregation
[p]The Dark Congregation is a massive Dark One whose body is formed from a swarm of smaller monsters clustered around a glowing red relic. Deep in the cave system, their combined Dark Energy creates a halo above its head.[/p][p]Long ago, an ancient miniature civilization mistook this halo as divine — a belief that ultimately led to their destruction. Wielding a staff of solidified golden syrup, the Dark Congregation strikes its own halo to conjure waves of devastating magic.[/p][p][/p]
Original Design
[p]This was the first take on the Dark Congregation — already creepy, with the clustered body and glowing relic.[/p][p][/p][p]
Refined Design + Idle Animations[/p][p][/p][p]In the updated design, you can see a lot more presence: the staff is larger and more ornate, the cloak and form are more defined, and the halo effect feels sharper. The new Idle animations bring him to life, making the whole creature feel even more ominous.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New Projectile Attack Animation
[p]Here’s one of it's new attack animations — an updated version of his projectile attack. When his staff hits the ground a magical golden orb is expelled towards his target.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New Secondary Attack Animation
[p]His secondary staff attack will make traps appear around him that you may also be able to use against him and his horde of followers. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That’s all for now on The Dark Congregation! I’ll be sharing more of his progress — including new attack patterns and abilities — in the next update post, so stay tuned.

Cave System Debugging Continues! Weekly News Update

[p]Hi! [/p][p]Today I tested the revision of the procedural event system for the underground caves system! [/p][p]Please Enjoy![/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Adventure Craft Weekely Update: New Traps, Caves & Gem Mining

[p]Hi Everyone![/p][p]I didn’t quite have the time to record and edit a video this week, but I still wanted to drop by, say hello, and share a few fresh screenshots with you.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Work continues on revising the underground cave system. This time I managed to blast my way in without accidentally blowing myself up. Progress![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This week I also gave the old rock traps a facelift with new art. There are now three different variations, adding more visual variety (and more ways to get squished).[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Falling rocks now hit a lot harder, which makes baiting powerful mobs into them even more satisfying. I’m especially happy with how this new version turned out—the jagged, spiky look really makes it pop.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]I also spent time refining the event system for gem mining—balancing, updating, and making sure it feels more rewarding overall.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There’s still a new video coming, just delayed a couple of days. Since it’s Father’s Day here in Australia tomorrow, I’ll be taking the day off with my family. I’m really looking forward to putting the video together soon to show everything off in action.[/p][p][/p][p]See you guys soon! [/p][p][/p][p]James : @iENDERi[/p]

✨ Bombing my way Into the Caves – Weekly Update

[p]Hi everyone, James here with another weekly Adventure Craft dev update![/p][p][/p][p]In this video I try to bomb my way into the new cave system to show you how things are shaping up underground. The caves were one of the very first things I built for the game, and over time they got left a little incomplete as I focused more on the surface. With the next update they’re getting a full overhaul.[/p][p]Now the caves will feature:[/p]
 • [p]A variety of Gem Biomes you can search and mine[/p]
 • [p]Updated artwork for stalagmites, pillars, rocks, and treasure chests[/p]
 • [p]Ancient ruins from a lost civilization you can explore and break apart[/p]
 • [p]New gem deposits (and special pickaxes to mine them)[/p]
 • [p]Gem monstrosities and other new enemies guarding these areas[/p]
 • [p]And plenty of tweaks to make the caves more dangerous but way more rewarding[/p]
[p]Everything in the footage is still work-in-progress — I’m testing with debug items (and blowing myself up with bombs way too often 😅). But hopefully this gives you a taste of how much deeper and more alive the caves will feel.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Here are some screenshots! Almost all of the art assets in the caves are being updated to match the overall look of the rest of the game. I’ve always loved making creepy stuff, so it’s been a lot of fun applying my current pixel art skills down here.[/p][p][/p][p]The new cave system will have 14 different Gem Biomes to discover, each with its own unique set of enemies. These areas are always in conflict thanks to the mining operations going on down here, so expect things to get pretty chaotic when you explore.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There’s also a full set of Crystal Armor and a variety of Crystal Weapons tied to each gem type. You’ll run into crystal warriors down here too, and they’re not alone — each one has a Crystal Monstrosity pet by their side.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The Dark Ones will show up in much greater numbers now, making the caves a constant danger. Exploring underground won’t just be about mining — you’ll always have to stay on your toes.[/p][p][/p][p]To balance out the danger, there’ll be a variety of treasure chests hidden around the caves to make exploring more rewarding (and to keep you pushing deeper).[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That’s it for this week’s update! Thanks so much for checking out the progress — it means a lot to me. Your feedback and support are a big part of what keeps me working on this game after all these years.[/p][p]I’ll be sharing more updates soon as I polish things further. In the meantime, let me know what you think of the new caves and which features you’re most excited to try.[/p][p]See you in the next one![/p][p]– James @iENDERi[/p]
