Risk of Rain 2: Alloyed Collective is Available Now!
Alloyed Collective is available now!
[p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
Alloyed Collective Notes
• [p]Added purchasable DLC3 “Alloyed Collective” Content: (more specifics at bottom of the page)[/p]
    • [p]2 New Survivors: Operator (unlocked by default) and Drifter (unlockable)[/p]
    • [p]6 New Enemies.[/p]
    • [p]7 New Drones.[/p]
    • [p]18 New Items.[/p]
    • [p]7 New Stages (plus 1 night/loop variant.)[/p]
    • [p]New Interactables.[/p]
    • [p]2 New Teleporter Bosses.[/p]
    • [p]New Final Boss.[/p]
    • [p]& New Secrets![/p]
[p] [/p][p]
A more detailed breakdown of the new content is in the spoiler section of these update notes down below - however we have been careful to hide some very cool stuff during the promotion of this DLC and I highly recommend you just jump in and discover the new content yourself![/p][p][/p]
Other Updates:
[p][/p][p]These changes are for all versions of Risk of Rain 2 and are not dependent on owning Alloyed Collective![/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Remote Operation Added - When you die in multiplayer you can take control of an Ally Drone until you are revived by stage transition (or by other means such as Seeker’s Meditate.)[/p]
  • [p]Drone AI has been significantly improved making them focus fire on your target & follow you closely when not attacking. They have also had their base health regen increased & now have damage reduction against Void Fog & Grandparent's AOE attack.[/p]
  • [p]The TC-280 Prototype, along with the above benefits, has also had its damage, armor & health increased.[/p]
  • [p]Drones are now 33% cheaper to repair when destroyed.[/p]
  • [p]Strike Drones (summoned from The Back-up equipment) now scale with level like the other Drones, as well as having their speed and regen increased.[/p]
  • [p]Survivors of the Void Item “Spare Drone Parts” stats reduced by 50%[/p]
[p]Developer Note: Spare Drone Parts (SDP) was initially balanced around the fact that drones used to be pretty ineffective combat allies - even so SDP was considered to be one of the strongest items in the game. With the new drones, increased drone acquisition and new drone AI in DLC3, SDP would essentially play the game for you and almost always guarantee a (pretty boring) win, so we have decided to reduce its effectiveness by 50% - SDP is still an extremely powerful item and we’ll keep a close eye on community feedback and sentiment regarding this change.[/p]
  • [p]Barrier now decays exponentially rather than flat, meaning the lower the amount of Barrier you have, the slower it will tick down.[/p]
[p]Community Manager note: Aegis buff in the big ‘25 wtf??[/p]
  • [p]Chests and Printers now use their previous ping icon.[/p]
  • [p]Reduced the spawn cost of Shrine of Shaping to lessen the impact it has on spawning other interactables on the stage.[/p]
  • [p]Reduced the spawn cost of Geeps and Gips so they should be more common on the stages they naturally spawn on.[/p]
  • [p]Void Seeds can no longer spawn Voidtouched Solus Monsters.[/p]
[p][/p]
Bug Fixes
[p][/p]
  • [p]CHEF’s returning cleavers no longer have a higher than intended proc rate (but Boosted / Yes Chef Cleavers have retained the higher proc rate.)[/p]
  • [p]Fixed rare issue where stages could infinitely repeat.[/p]
  • [p]You will now be able to obtain the Treeborn Colony/Golden Dieback log if you have already obtained the Aphelian Sanctuary log.[/p]
  • [p]The audio for THE FINAL BOSS’S pizza attack is now properly synced.[/p]
  • [p]Xi Construct mega laser will now correctly cause an explosion when it ends.[/p]
  • [p]Re-added dithering to characters when very close to the camera.[/p]
  • [p]Artificer’s Nano-Spear will no longer push enemies around.[/p]
  • [p]Mercenary no longer sometimes takes fall damage when using Whirlwind.[/p]
  • [p]Scrappers now play correct audio (and not only when MUL-T is in the session.)[/p]
  • [p]Added missing Void Item drop sound.[/p]
  • [p]Added missing Royal Capacitor and Charged Perforator sound.[/p]
  • [p]H3AD-5T v2 is no longer able to multiply velocity in unintended ways (such as pressing jump on a Geyser launching you into the sky.)[/p]
  • [p]Elite On Death effects now occur when Ghosts from Happiest Mask expire.[/p]
  • [p]War Bond Missiles now “cost” the correct amount of gold.[/p]
  • [p]Alpha Constructs from Defense Nucleus now use the proper skin.[/p]
  • [p]Seeker’s Unseen Hand now correctly highlights Void Enemies.[/p]
  • [p]Removed False Son being in the logbook for non DLC2 owners.[/p]
  • [p]Returned the Bazaar Diorama to the Logbook.
    [/p]
Known Issues
[p][/p][p]We have at least one patch planned post-release for DLC3 which will address bugs that we’ve identified after we submitted our release builds, as well as any bugs and balance changes needed following community feedback. [/p][p][/p][p]If you have feedback you’d like considered for this patch, please let us know on our Discord.[/p]
  • [p]Drifter’s ability “Repossess” can sometimes (however, quite rarely) allow you to push yourself through terrain.[/p]
  • [p]Various minor issues with Repossess (such as Lt Droneboy’s hat being visible outside of the bag once you grab it) to be addressed. Repossess is probably the most complex ability ever added to the game and as such requires a little post-release fine tuning. Let us know what weird stuff you find![/p]
  • [p]We may have fixed the Scrapper audio... but we broke the animation (oops.) Fix inbound in the next patch![/p]
  • [p]Various platform-specific performance optimizations are planned for the next patch. [/p][p][/p]

Risk of Rain 2 Alloyed Collective DLC drops today, and I will go to war if anything harms my new drone buddies

Risk of Rain 2 today launches its latest major DLC offering, Alloyed Collective. Pitting Riskers against the powerful Solus Units that have risen from the scrap heaps, developer Gearbox has a host of new maps, enemies, and more to shake up your runs in the hit roguelike game. It's not all plight though, as there's a couple of droney homies in it for you, as well as a host of new items.

Dev Diary #4 - Drifter & Release Details!

[p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Welcome to the 4th and final pre-release Devlog for Alloyed Collective - before we take a closer look at Drifter and her abilities let’s get into that release info you’ve all been patiently waiting for.[/p][p]
[/p]
Release Details
[p][/p][p]Alloyed Collective will release on the 18th November 2025, for the same cost as the previous DLCs at an SRP of $14.99 in the USA (as far as regional prices - whatever the SRP that Seekers of the Storm is in your location right now, that’s the price Alloyed Collective will be!)[/p][p][/p][p]Is it worth wishlisting Alloyed Collective now you know when the release date is? ABSOLUTELY, DO IT RIGHT NOW so you know the INSTANT it's dropped![/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]A quick note for our Nintendo Switch players — the team has a couple additional improvements we want to make before releasing Alloyed Collective on Switch. Unfortunately, those changes couldn’t be completed in time for our original target, so the Switch version will arrive a bit later. [/p][p][/p][p]Alloyed Collective will launch on PC & both generations of Xbox and PlayStation on November 18, with the Nintendo Switch release date to be confirmed once we’ve completed the final round of optimizations.[/p][p]
[/p][p] [/p]
Drifter
[p][/p][p]Introduced in Risk of Rain Returns, Drifter is making the leap into 3D landing with the best of her Brawler-Support kit from Returns. But worry not, there will also be some brand new exciting additions to her kit - the likes of which we’ve never seen in Risk of Rain before, and probably thought we never would![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Key to mastery of Drifter and her abilities is managing her unique resource: Scrap Junk. Yea... so we were gonna call it scrap like in Returns. But scrap is already a thing in ROR2. So it’s junk now, just go with it… Generated by attacking enemies, Junk litters the battlefield until you collect it, it’s up to you to choose if you use it up quickly to empower your attacks - or max out the meter, unlocking the full potential of Drifter's most powerful abilities.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Her most reliable source of Junk is her primary attack Blunt Force.[/p][p]
[/p]
Blunt Force
[p]
With Blunt Force Drifter does a triple-melee-swing with her massive sack dealing 170% damage per swipe. The third attack in the sequence is a larger 350% damage slam which also stuns enemies. Each one of these attacks has a chance of beating some junk out of your foe. [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There are some more special features of Blunt Force. But they involve her other abilities so we’ll be talking about those as they come up further in the Dev Diary. One such interaction involves her unlockable Secondary attack…[/p][p][/p]
Junk Cube
[p][/p][p]Usually in these Dev Diaries I focus on the Survivor’s base kit and let you discover the unlockable skills for yourself, but with it being a fan favorite from Returns and being featured so prominently in the reveal trailer how could I not switch things up and highlight her unlockable secondary ability: Junk Cube.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Slam down a huge cube of Junk for 400% damage which you can then whack with Blunt Force a further 3 times before the cube blows up for a final 800% damage.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You can even cast aside the laws of physics and ride the cube while you slap it with Blunt Force turning Drifter into a guided missile of death and destruction.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If you’ve got a lot of junk in the… uhhh… sack you can bypass the ability cooldown by consuming 4 Junk and immediately creating another Cube. This allows Drifter to turn her precious resource into multiple cubes of chaos (Patent Pending*). [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]
Using Drifter’s brand new Utility ability Repossess you can even pick up the Junk Cube and throw it directly at your enemies. I wonder how many other objects you can pick up and throw using Repossess?

[/p]
Repossess
[p][/p][p]Yes. The answer is Yes.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]She really can pick up and throw anything that isn't bolted down.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And even a few things that probably should be.
[/p][p][/p][p]In fact, unless it would be completely gamebreaking (picking up the teleporter and throwing it off the stage would be questionable game design at best) chances are Drifter can Repossess it.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]While being held in your bag your primary Blunt Force does additional damage based on the mass of the object you have held, and you gain additional Junk from killing enemies this way.
[/p][p]However EVERYTHING held has a health bar. Using blunt force repeatedly while holding the chest you promised to keep safe may not be a wise plan…[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]Some of the objects you can pick up even have unique interactions with enemies. For example if you lob a wisp at an enemy it’ll set that enemy on fire - but I won't spoil all of those interactions in this Dev Diary. Ok maybe one more.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We cannot wait to see the creativity the community uses with this ability to break the game in ways we've not even considered. A couple of my favorites include a pretty broken interaction involving one of Captain’s beacons…[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And once during testing Bruno was taking his sweet time looting the stage so I relocated his Engi Turrets to the teleporter without him knowing…[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And speaking of “helping” teammates, that leads us to the last ability we’ll be revealing - Salvage.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p]
Salvage
[p][/p][p]Drifter’s Special Ability Salvage is the one bit of her kit which has been essentially unchanged between Returns to Alloyed Collective. Once your Junk meter is 80% full you can consume it all and generate 4 temporary items.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Salvage is where the “Support” part of “Brawler-Support” comes into play - you can take all these items for yourself, or share them with your teammates - whether you like it or not.
[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]“But Mr Community Manager man, doesn’t that mean temporary items are a new item type in the DLC that you’ve managed to deftly keep secret throughout these amazing Dev Diaries??”[/p][p][/p][p]It sure does Billy - and forcing your friends to play as Drifter so you can follow them around waiting for them to use Salvage is not the only way to get temporary items in Alloyed Collective.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p] [/p]
Final Thoughts
[p]
[/p][p]Now we’re done with the final pre-release Dev Diary and we’re SO CLOSE to Alloyed Collective I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has followed along over the last few months.  After seeing everyone’s reactions to the Seekers of the Storm post-release improvement phases and now seeing everyone get excited for Alloyed Collective- the whole team cannot wait for you to get your hands on the latest addition to Risk of Rain.[/p][p][/p][p]During these Dev Diaries I've showcased and previewed all the exciting content you’re used to: Survivors, Stages, Items, Enemies etc. There is, however, even more content in Alloyed Collective that we've not even hinted at. Systems, Stages, Encounters - There’s some amazing stuff in there that you 100% are not expecting that I am desperate to tell you about..
[/p][p]…but for the sake of your own ability to discover it all, I shall refrain. Just know it took a lot of effort to keep my big mouth shut.
[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Make sure you let us know what you think of Drifter and Alloyed Collective too when it's released on November 18th - the best place to do that is on our Discord.[/p][p][/p][p]Risk of Rain Discord[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks again, bye for now[/p][p]
- The Risk of Rain Team.[/p][p][/p][p]P.s. One last time - Wishlist it plz. Seriously, it makes everyone think I’m super smart and handsome when you do [/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]P.P.S. Btw for our Steam Deck players out there, we've also released some Risk of Rain themed startup videos for you today![/p][p][/p][p]*No of course we have not actually patented ‘cubes of chaos’[/p][p]

New Risk of Rain 2 character Operator transforms drones into deadly weapons

Risk of Rain 2 Alloyed Collective will introduce us to a new survivor that takes drones to the next level. The third expansion for the beloved roguelike looks to be righting the wrongs of Seekers of the Storm. Having revamped and relaunched the disappointing DLC to a much more positive reception, Gearbox has since brought back one of the game's co-creators to work on its next project, and added some of the most popular RoR 2 mod makers into the mix as well. Now, in a new dev diary, the team shows off the pack's debuting survivor, Operator, and I'm already eager to put them to the test.

Dev Diary #3 - Operator

[p]Welcome to the third Dev Diary for Alloyed Collective where you will be introduced to the latest Survivor on the roster for Risk of Rain 2: Operator.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]With the new Drones being introduced with the DLC we wanted to design a Survivor that made the most of these new and improved battle companions. But don’t worry, Operator doesn’t just sit back and let the Drones take all the glory. Instead, he uses their abilities to enhance his own combat skills making this union of man and machine an agile powerhouse on the battlefield.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As always, you know the rules, before we get started head on over to the Alloyed Collective Steam page and wishlist that sucker! Seriously, I’ll wait… done? Okay, let’s keep going![/p][p]
[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Lone Operator: H3-11 OCR Custom
[p]
[/p][p]Although Operator arrives on the planet with 2 drones of his choice he’s certainly more than capable of defending himself without them. For starters, he has his primary: H3-11 OCR Custom pistol.[/p][p][/p][p]Like the majority of the primary attacks in the game you can just hold down the attack and let it do its thing. It does a respectable amount of damage and is more than capable of popping Wisps and dropping Lemurians. It even has an added bonus of each kill shot ricocheting to the enemy with the lowest health nearby dealing 75% of the bullet’s damage.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]However, the truly big brain Survivors among you will let this primary stack up a bit. Each stack increases the damage of the shot and if you let it get the full 3 stacks it transforms the H3-11 OCR Custom into a deadly skill shot that would even leave Railgunner jealous.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]A fully charged shot is highly accurate, does massive damage, and has no damage fall-off. That’ll allow the patient and skillful among you to turn Operator into a front-line sniper… and you didn't already forget about the ricochet did you??[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]
[/p][p][/p]
Ace Operator: Ascent Protocol
[p]
[/p][p]Operator’s Utility Ability allows you to very rapidly navigate stages to press the advantage, escape danger, or just style on your enemies. Introducing: Ascent Protocol.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]Command one of your Drones to boost you up into the air and clip on for a smooth descent back to the ground - all the while having full use of all of your other abilities letting you rain destruction from on high.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Operator might look diminutive but even the most hench of drones cant keep him in the skies forever. Luckily after a brief cooldown you can aim at one of your spare drones and re-activate the skill, leaping towards it and maintaining your flight even longer. [/p][p][/p][p]Operator never loses in a game of “the floor is lava.”[/p][p]
[/p]
Smooth Operator: Ejection Core
[p][/p][p]Operator doesn’t have to rely on his bullet ricochet to deal AOE damage to monsters. With his special ability Ejection Core he can overcharge a drone and yeet it at a group of his enemies to melt health bars and shred their defences.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]Not only does the drone impact hit like a truck, it also launches enemies into the air and applies the Bugged debuff to them and stuns them while they are airborne. Any enemy with the Bugged debuff takes additional damage and their descent is slowed allowing you to continue pelting them with bullets even longer ramping up the hurt to ridiculous levels.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Just using your own attacks might let you get a couple of kills while using Ejection Core, but with the help of your Drones you can absolutely lay waste not only to Bugged enemies, but the entire ecosystem of Petrichor V…[/p][p]
[/p]
Drone Operator: ADMIN-OVERRIDE
[p][/p][p]You’ve probably noticed throughout this superbly written Dev Diary there's a little aiming reticle that keeps popping up on enemies. Well, that's not your target, it's your Drones’ target.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]When using Operator’s secondary ADMIN-OVERRIDE you command your currently active Drone to attack its target with an ability which is different & unique to every Drone in the game, new and old. [/p][p][/p][p]This works in conjunction with his passive Drone Queue which cycles through your available Drones, including those purchased during your run, one by one, after using any of Operator’s Drone abilities.[/p][p][/p][p]For example the Healing Drone once activated both heals you AND gives you a temporary speed boost.[/p][p]

[/p][p][/p][p]Some Drones have entirely new unique attacks, like the Bombardment Drone. This shocking addition dashes to your target and fires stunning chain lightning. That’ll make any affected enemies an easy target for its follow-up AOE bombardment attack. [/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]But my favorite of the bunch is the good ol’ TC-280 Prototype which, on command, does a deadly strafing run that obliterates any targets in its path.[/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]Each new Drone that you collect gives you an extra charge of this ability. So if you’ve got a tough teleporter event coming up you can save those charges up and on your command UNLEASH HELL WITH YOUR ARMY OF DRONES.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Operator also comes with a full suite of alternate abilities and starting Drones to choose from but I'll let you discover those for yourself when Alloyed Collective arrives later this year.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p]And now for a small bit of bad news: We don’t have a release date for you today.[/p][p][/p][p]I know many of you will have rocked up to this Dev Diary excited to see the release date for the DLC. But there are still a handful of things we want to sort out before we give you a date. [/p][p][/p][p]I announced in Dev Diary 2 that it was our goal to make Alloyed Collective the best addition to Risk of Rain ever, and in my humble opinion we are damn close to achieving that goal, we just need a little bit more time to get there. When we give you the date, we want it to be a cast-iron guarantee, but we can't do that today.[/p][p][/p][p]The good news is we’re still very much on track for a release later this year as promised. In the end we want the team to have the time they need to make DLC3 without having to crunch.[/p][p][/p][p]Again, our sincere apologies to everyone looking forward to that particular reveal today. We’ll share a date with everyone as soon as we’ve locked it in.  - trust me when I say it will be worth the wait![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Never Operating Solo
[p][/p][p]Operator is the first of two new Survivors coming in Alloyed collective, in the next Dev Diary we’ll be showing off the 2nd who is returning from a previous Risk of Rain game! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Let us know in the comment section who you hope it’ll be & head on over to the Alloyed Collective Steam page and give it a wishlist. We’ll see you again real soon![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Bye for now![/p][p][/p][p]- The Risk of Rain Team[/p][p]
