Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is now available in Arabic!

As of today, Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is available to play in Arabic!

Translating Disco Elysium into Arabic has been a labour of love over the last few years, made possible with the patience and passion of our Arabic-speaking community and the hard work of our localisation partner, Loc and Play.

This is the 12th language Disco Elysium has been localised in, giving a wave of players the option to experience Disco Elysium in their first language.

This update also includes several bug fixes, including solutions for:

  • Special characters (i.e. commas, asterisks) displaying as boxes in Turkish.
  • UI issues in the inventory menu when playing with a controller, such as text and button overlap.

Keen to see Dragon Age get a Fallout-style TV series? Well, its former lead writer would rather watch an Animal Crossing political thriller

Now we're all basking in the radioactive glow of success coming from Amazon's Fallout TV show, a lot of people are naturally wondering which video game series they might like to see get the Hollywood treatment next. Interestingly, for Dragon Age's former lead writer, the answer isn't, er, Dragon Age.

Yep, as it turns out, not everyone who's worked on a video game necessarily thinks that game would translate well, or come off in the same way it does in game form, on the big screen. Sometimes things might just not translate, you know, no matter how many little homages to the games that inspired the series or fun maps you might be able to sprinkle in.

Responding to a post about the idea of a Fallout-style TV shows being made about other games (thanks, TheGamer), David Gaider, who formerly served as the lead writer on the Dragon Age series while working at Bioware, tweeted that he thinks a Dragon Age show would be "a terrible idea".

UPDATE: Disco Elysium is never getting a sequel or spin-off, says final original writer to be laid off at ZA/UM

The original story follows:

The last writer who worked on the original Disco Elysium to be laid off by ZA/UM has said that he believes that it “will forever stay a one-game studio”, amid layoffs that are reportedly coming as part of the cancellation of an expansion for the game.

It’s been a turbulent time for those working at the studio that released the very unique and interesting detective game back in 2019, as a documentary released by People Make Games in May last year explored.
