The battle for Disco Elysium's soul explodes with new allegations, and is heading to court




In October, the news broke that key creatives behind Disco Elysium had left Studio ZA/UM last year. A few days later, founding member of ZA/UM Martin Luiga alleged they had been "fired on false premises". Studio ZA/UM issued a statement about the "collective effort" of game development without substantially commenting on the news, and we were left uncertain as to what transpired at the studio and what to expect from it going forward. Fired Disco Elysium creators trade accusations with new ZA/UM owners

Two of the principal creators of Disco Elysium have published a statement accusing the new owners of developer Studio ZA/UM of taking over the company by fraud, saying that they are now exploring legal options. Those new owners have, for their part, said that these creators were fired last year for refusing to discharge their work responsibilities and for creating a toxic work environment at the troubled RPG game studio.

Disco Elysium's game director Robert Kurvitz and art director Aleksander Rostov have, at least partially, offered up their side of the story on why they were fired from Disco dev studio ZA/UM in a Medium post titled 'TO FANS OF DISCO ELYSIUM, CONCERNING THE SITUATION AT ZA/UM'. Short answer is: they allege fraud.
