Disco Elysium News

A follow-up to the legendary Disco Elysium might have been ready to play within the next year—ZA/UM's devs loved it, management canceled it and laid off the team: 'For a while it seemed like miracles were possible, and with them redemption'

When members of artist collective turned game developer Studio ZA/UM thanked Marx and Engels in their 2019 Game Awards acceptance speech for the RPG triumph Disco Elysium, I felt like I was looking at the future, the ecstatic debut of my new favorite developer, but that isn't how things panned out. Disco Elysium has been #1 on our yearly Top 100 games list four years in a row, but for much of that time, ZA/UM has been engulfed in an existential crisis...

You only have to take one look at PC Gamer's Disco Elysium review to realize just what a special PC gaming experience it is. Rated 92%, this detective RPG simply blew our reviewer Andy Kelly away, leaving him to "say with certainty that it's one of the finest RPGs on PC if you value depth, freedom, customization, and storytelling."..

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is now available in Arabic!

As of today, Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is available to play in Arabic!

Translating Disco Elysium into Arabic has been a labour of love over the last few years, made possible with the patience and passion of our Arabic-speaking community and the hard work of our localisation partner, Loc and Play.

This is the 12th language Disco Elysium has been localised in, giving a wave of players the option to experience Disco Elysium in their first language.

This update also includes several bug fixes, including solutions for:

  • Special characters (i.e. commas, asterisks) displaying as boxes in Turkish.
  • UI issues in the inventory menu when playing with a controller, such as text and button overlap.

Keen to see Dragon Age get a Fallout-style TV series? Well, its former lead writer would rather watch an Animal Crossing political thriller

Now we're all basking in the radioactive glow of success coming from Amazon's Fallout TV show, a lot of people are naturally wondering which video game series they might like to see get the Hollywood treatment next. Interestingly, for Dragon Age's former lead writer, the answer isn't, er, Dragon Age.

Yep, as it turns out, not everyone who's worked on a video game necessarily thinks that game would translate well, or come off in the same way it does in game form, on the big screen. Responding to a post about the idea of a Fallout-style TV shows being made about other games (thanks, TheGamer), David Gaider, who formerly served as the lead writer on the Dragon Age series while working at Bioware, tweeted that he thinks a Dragon Age show would be "a terrible idea".
