Soundscape VR's major multiplayer expansion "Soundscape Universe" launches today!

Back in October when we debuted the world’s first virtual reality concert stage, we showed off the first teasers of Soundscape Universe - a massive expansion to Soundscape VR that includes features like public and private social VR worlds, a multiplayer rhythm game, expanded venues, a brand-new UI, and music collaborations with artists like STS9, EOTO, and Big Gigantic. Today, I am pleased to announce that the next evolution of Soundscape VR is complete and is now live on Steam and Oculus Home!

We’ve been building the world of Soundscape for over 5 years now, starting from humble beginnings as a passion project, to giving people a mind-blowing experience at our Burning Man art installation, to now evolving into a 24/7 VR music festival that lets you meet up with friends and other music lovers across the globe. You can party with your friends in gorgeous audio-reactive VR music venues to the sound of your own playlist, join a virtual concert from your favorite artist, create and collaborate on virtual canvasses of art, or challenge your friends to a contest of coordination and rhythm.

In the new multiplayer setting, you can choose between listening to special sets from major artists delivered in partnership with Soundscape, user-created mixes and synchronized playlists hosted by curators, or your own music simultaneously in a virtual silent disco. The music makes the world of Soundscape VR come alive, creating a mind-melting audiovisual experience with millions of unique combinations.

This update adds customizable avatars you can design to reflect your digital persona while you chat, dance, and play “face-to-face” in public venues or private listening parties. Exploring the vast panorama and digital landscape of Soundscape VR reveals a virtual world unlike any other, full of imaginative art, impossible settings, and limitless ways to play.

We’ve also added an all-new open world rhythm game where you can shoot and slice your way through the interactive venues to your favorite songs, competing against up to 8 players at a time to see who can cause the most destruction and get the highest score. There are no beatmaps to be made, no limited songs to choose from. You choose the music, from Beethoven to Skrillex, Soundscape VR handles the rest.

Soundscape VR is free to download on both Steam and Oculus Home. In a world where unsavory tech companies are increasingly using you as a product, we feel compelled to mention that even though our game is free, we do not sell any of your data, period. Soundscape is extremely focused on user privacy and remaining censorship-free, we're just glad that you're here with us to enjoy this music revolution.

Be sure to check out our Discord to join in with the Soundscape music community and discover new music and friends every day, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest news and updates regarding new artist content post-launch!
