Shelter Devlog #5 | Caravan

Hi Chefs!
Shelter is getting closer to the release and very soon we'll be able to give you an exact date!
In the previous devlogs you've learned about the new ingredients, recipes, gathering resources and the new environment. Despite all those completely new mechanics, Shelter is still first and foremost a cooking game. It's also NOT an open world game. All the trading, exchanging resources and contacting other settlements is made possible thanks to the caravan travelling across the sector.

The caravan leader Mila Run will be one of the first people we'll encounter in the Sector. She'll be giving you the first quests that will allow you to build mutual trust. Eventually she'll introduce us to the leaders of other settlers who should be able to help us restore the radio towers.

There are 4 different settlements in the Sector but none are not going to help a complete stranger so before asking for any favors we'll need to do something for them. The quests will vary from cooking for a feast to preparing fodder for carnivorous cows. That's where our cooking skills, resourcefulness and shelter's equipment come in.

By the end of each day in Shelter you'll be visited by the travelling merchants. They'll collect and deliver all the food we've prepared and also exchange products and other supplies necessary for cooking and surviving in the wasteland.

Wastelands can be quite unpredictable and you might find yourself in need of some extra items you haven't bought in advance. In such cases, you can use the radio to contact the caravan and request an express delivery. Just keep in mind that you'll need to pay extra for such a favor!
