Brigand: Panama DLC is Working

Two weeks after the expected launch date, Brigand: Panama is up on Steam. There will probably be a couple of logistical script bugs because I do not want to limit player freedom, and there's always something people do on Youtube videos or Steam discussions that I would never have thought of.

Panama is an entirely new story with a new player character -- it doesn't change the original story at all, so start a new game and select the "Brigand - Panama" story.

It's about half the length of Oaxaca, but it's hard right from the beginning. Also, there are lots of new features, such as a woodcraft ability that lets you craft bamboo into throwing spears, smoking pipes, and fishing rods. There are also traps. A whole poopoo platter of traps. And a lot more items, baddies, and characters. There will be an update next weekend for sure.

Thanks to the Steam Team for being patient with my dumb ass.

Also, thanks to MAAU for the serious shout-out, even though I don't understand a word of it:

Version 5.9

I fixed a few bugs that would be spoilers if I posted them, thanks big-time to megacdman. But most importantly, you can now shove your teammates out of your way if you walk into them and the Team Command is not set to Hold. If you want the complete list, check the Updates.txt file in the game folder.

PANAMA EXPANSION UPDATE:

If you really want to play the Panama expansion right now, you can get it on itch.io and move it to Steam's game folder (achievements work if Steam is open): https://blancaster45.itch.io/

You can also get improved character skins on itch, which I can't do here because the DarkBASIC Pro Steam DLL won't allow Steam Workshop commands. But if there's enough user-made content and I figure out the Steam DLC, I'll just make a free community DLC pack on Steam. This will be much later.

If the Panama DLC doesn't work by next weekend I have another game plan, which will mean less money for me and the 12 people who bought it will need a refund. But just wait until next weekend. Aaand, that's the plan for now.

Version 5.8

Panama doesn't work yet, but it will soon, and all Steam execs will owe me a bottle for finding a Steam bug, I swear to Satan.

Here is the new Brigand: Oaxaca version.

SOURCE CODE:
-Fixed bug that made player taking poison damage from self-inflicted hunger start attacking player faction.
-Obtainables with target type set to "optional" no longer appear in sentients' hands.

SCRIPTS:
-Fixed Cyber Demon (AARFY) footstep sounds (MOV script).
-Fixed bug with La Mordida ability for both Oaxaca and Panama stories.
-Fixed a rare bug that let Officer Rolland train you to max skills.
-Increased bed distance from hostiles from 600 to 800.

STORY FILE: (requires starting a new game)
-Increased the Bartender's Software skill from 0 to 25 (for player training).
-Added two boomprill chems and a methane grenade to the Topo Tracks (for character balancing).
-Added some chems to Marvin's labs.

Panama Not Working Yet

You can buy Panama right now, but it's not working yet. There should be a 3rd story file, but no files are downloading. I am waiting for Steam's reply.

Hopefully I can revert it back to "Coming Soon" but it takes a bit.

EDIT AGAIN: Also, Panama will be an entirely new story with a new player character, so you won't be missing anything by playing through the original.

Version 5.7, Huge Bug Fix

I tried improving the AI a bit for the jungle with lots of cones, and I ended up screwing up the AI for the original Oaxaca story. It should all be fixed now, along with some other updates. Expect Brigand: Panama October 17th (I already told Steam, no bullshit).

Complete list of fixes:

SOURCE CODE:
-Fixed major bug with AI climbing prefab objects.
-Fixed problem with "if_outside" boolean script command.
-Dead sentient objects now have concealed effect turned off immediately.
-Added message when reloading about not having the required ammo.
-Clarified some GUI world editor messages.

SCRIPTS:
-Fixed problem with loa vanishing in sunlight or when possession ends.

STORY FILE: (requires starting a new game)
-Fixed polygon collision for loose dirt and tire objects.
