Wikis and Turn Reports - The current state of Warsim development

Hey everyone

Just a little update on what's going on. It's been almost a month since the last update which feels weird for me but the time has been spent chipping away at the End of turn report update and more recently also some work developing the new wiki.

The End of Turn Report

So the end of turn report is an update that has been long overdue and I'm really happy with how it's shaping up. I've just today finished the trawl through every single possible end of turn event from trade caravans to demon attacks and now I'm moving on to some of the other more technical aspects before I can look at releasing it.
THE PLAN FOR THE END OF TURN REPORT
The plan is to turn the end of turn report from a massive mess of confusing yellow text 'informing' you about the goings on of the world, to a digestable and well broken down report that can actually be of some value.

The player should be able to choose more or less detailed reports that are still informative too.
THE CURRENT STATE OF THE UPDATE
Currently I've gone through all of the (what feels like 1000s) of end of turn events and added them into the new end of turn system. I've tested it lots and am at a point where I'm so much happier with it than I was prior to this update.

See a comparison here

During the trawl through the many end of turn events I've found many bugs and things that needed tweaking and improvements so I've tried to work through them as I go.
WHAT'S LEFT
I've still got to work through the spy reports system, however there are also some areas of the turn report I've saved for later review and will need to return and work through them.

During the trawl through end of turn events I also noticed the demon attack system, I've wanted to change it for a long time and now as I need to include it in the new turn report system I've decided I may as well rework it now rather than update the older version of the demonic attack system.

The current demon attack system makes the fierce demons quite slow and weak in their attacks with them launching small attacks once per year where they can do a multitude of things like destroying a single caravan, or a small number of peasants or troops. Ideally I'd like a system where there can be multiple demon attacks per year that will typically result in a ruined territoriy. The attacks could be aimed at any kingdom not just your own but I'd like to make them feel far more dangerous when they are active.

There are also several other additional features I'm looking at experimenting with for the end of turn system including:

* Having comparison reports that compare income/expenses and so on with the previous year
* Tracking relation changes with factions for the year and showing you how much they have changed (if at all)
* A new system of random yearly events

Plenty to be working on, I can't yet call when this update will be ready but I'm excited to release it!

The Wiki

Alongside this update our new wiki has started growing a lot, I've spent a bit of time on certain areas but there is still so much left to add to the wiki so no ETA on when it could be finished.

So far we've got:

* Several taverns have been fully added (Icewatch, Counts Arms, Gribble's Tavern, Humans Toe Tavern, The Dirt Den, The Dragon's Kneecap, The Pitside Tavern, Three Blades Inn
* All 90 of the readable in-game books (and damaged versions) are fully documented
* The Hall of Goblin heroes and all of its goblins have been added
* Pretty much all drinkable drinks in game are documented
* Random locations within larger settlements are added
* The main part of Darkdale has been added but a lot of the related pages aren't done yet
* The large rocky cavern and the connected Gnome Village are fully documented
* Uktak Village is pretty much complete
* 3 of the games mini games are fully documented
* And several other loose pages are complete

What's left to be done are:

* All locations and characters of the Blackmarket
* Most characters and locations within Darkdale
* All locations and characters within Baiaa
* All locations and characters within the Artifact Market
* Most of the in-game villages and smaller settlements
* All throne room encounters
* All hireable throne room entertainment acts
* All laws and their effects
* All end of turn report events and random events
* All mini games
* All kingdom upgrades
* All staff roles and perks
* All standard factions and their information
* Breakdowns for the proc gen races and their various effects
* All artifacts
* Systems like mercenary groups/diplomact etc

So an overwealmingly large amount of stuff still to add but we'll get there in time I hope!

It's unfortunate because a lot of stuff can't be added by anyone but myself as a lot of the details of certain things aren't obvious without looking at the code. Making stub pages with screenshots of the characters and locations is a big help though, or creating new character pages for various in game npcs using our Template Character. Regardless I'm already immensely grateful with the help so far from people like /u/ubft and /u/theuniquefidji

In Summary

In Summary there hasn't been an update for a while but rest assured a lot is getting done, I can't wait to get both the wiki and the update done. The plan beyond the end of turn update is to get stuck in to the combat update.

Thanks for all the support and I hope everyone is doing as well as they can and staying safe!

Cheers
