Warsim 1.1.8 (Ally Attacks and throne room content Update)

Hello guys, sorry for the delay on this one. I've been cooking an awful lot of stuff for Warsim in the background but am always desperate to get more content and updates rolled out so here we are!

[h3]ALLY WARTARGETS (4 features)[/h3]

A feature requested by players and one of the most requested in our voting room! Now you can ask your allies to attack your enemies!

You can now ask your allies to attack any other faction, they may refuse if they don't like you much!

* Added new option to ask ally to attack someone
* Added refusal if relation with ally is lower than 10
* Added chance mercantile leaders charge 10k to attack an enemy
* Added dynamic reaction based on personality type to war request







[h3]NEW THRONE ROOM ENCOUNTERS (10 features)[/h3]

Added some new throne room encounters surrounding women as there are too many male centric ones!

* Added new throne room encounter 'Woman enlist in the mighty army'

Calling all Warsimlikes!

Hello everyone,

Finally putting this out after having this in my plans for a little while but something super exciting has been cooking alongside Warsim's development these many years, and that's that in varying capacities a ton of games have taken inspiration for Warsim and started forging their own awesome paths.

I can't tell you how euphoric this is and how proud I feel to see this materialise and I want to do everything in my power to support these games!

My one biggest issue is that I know there have been way more than this over the years but some slip under the radar, so if you know any Warsim-like games (on itch.io or any forums) that should be included here let me know.

And if you yourself have a little Warsim inspired game you're cooking up, don't be a stranger and let me know about it. This is an open invite too so any future Warsim-likes are something I love and encourage!

[h3]CULT GAME[/h3]

The very exciting looking Cult Game, made by a good friend of mine and a dude who singehandedly saved Warsim from a huge bug by helping me through an issue that I couldn't wrap my head around personally, absolute hero. Check it out here.

[h3]Heroes of Book & Paper[/h3]

The only one of these games that is actually on steam, fun fact about this. It's the only other game on steam that references Aslona (nice little easter egg) and the developer is a longtime Warsim community legend LeMachinga, who came up with a redesign for the mushroom men faces that became the standard, leading to a possible mushroom name for shroomling characters 'LeMushinga'. This game is one that used the Warsim generators that were released as a free tool for DMs and other game devs a little while back, here we see one of Warsims Underling faces and it's awesome to see our generators go to use like this! Check it out here.

[h3]Crusader's Quest[/h3]

A python based text rpg based on Warsim and Oregon Trail. Another promising project that I watch with interest. Check it out here!

[h3]Dark Path Wanderer[/h3]

This one feels like a mix of Warsim and my old game the Wastes (rip) the screenshots look really cool and I'm excited to see how it develops. Check it out here.

[h3]The Wastes[/h3]

Adding it here as an honourable mention, this game was made after the initial warsim demo but before I took on Warsim properly and began turning it into a game. This proc gen wasteland explorer game was worked on intensely for 6 months before I had the source code wiped... Didn't keep any backups back then like a bloody idiot but hey lessons learned...

Warsim 1.1.7 (Siege of Shaian and Godherja Collab Update)

Been a bit slow releasing this cause it was my birthday over the weekend, but finally got this out and I'm happy to! As always much more to come :)

[h3]THE SIEGE OF SHAIAN (18 features)[/h3]

For years people have been asking to attack Shaian, well I can't keep denying you guys... So with some effort you can!

* Added ability to fling chaos orbs at the coastal wall when banned from Shaian
* Added degrading wall as it gets further attacked in Shaian
* Added battle with Sea Abominations under coastal kings command (20 battlescore each, army scaled to your lands)
* Added ability coastal king death screen if you win
* Added screen for coastal king pushing you back
* Added ability to decide the fate of Shaian
* Added ability to ruin Shaian, Akall fort, and Nalli trade
* Added ability to visit Shaian ruins
* Added ability to visit Akall ruins
* Added new text for Shaian conquered
* Added 15 references to your ruler in Shaian if you conquer them
* Added ability to destroy Shaian Coast King statue in kings district
* Added access to secret room in mage district that coastal king barred entry to
* Added 2 secret books to the mage room
* Added 150-600 troops per turn when you rule Shaian
* Added 10-50 troops per turn from owning Akall fort when you rule Shaian

[h3]GREAT GODHERJA COLLABORATION (7 features)[/h3]

In probably one of the greatest moments of my gamedev career, I found myself enthralled by an awesome Crusader Kings 3 total conversion mod Godherja which has one of the coolest brand new settings and honestly something I'd love to see as a TV show or something. I reached out to the mod authors to express my gratitude for their awesome work and learned they are a longtime Warsim player and enjoyer, When I tell you the joy I felt being stopped mid fanboy to be met by someone who enjoys Warsim, such a strange but fun twist. So after some talk we discussed a collaboration and here we are! Anyone who enjoys CK3 on PC please check out the mod you won't regret it at all.

Warsim 1.1.6 (New Start Update)

Hey guys, so not the most meaty update here but the stuff included is good stuff, got some awesome new kingdom starts an overdue tweak to the turn report and a bunch of bugs fixed!

[h3]NEW GAME STARTS (5 features)[/h3]

This is a big one and something I've wanted to do for a while! Now we have a bunch of new game starts :)

* Added new game start 'Necromancer Horde' (Start with necromantic powers, a horde, and low public opinion)
* Added new game start 'Confused Explorer' (Start with +5 lands beyond explore chances per turn and higher public opinion)
* Added new game start 'Blackmarket Ruler' (Start with the Blackmarket owned and instantly visitable and lower public opinion)
* Added new game start 'Goblin Revolt' (Start with a goblin army and lower public opinion)
* Added new game start 'Neighbour Conquest' (Start with an independent kingdom vassal and good public opinion)

[h3]END OF TURN REPORT TWEAK (1 feature)[/h3]

This used to annoy me, new game you choose that you want to be shown advanced reports. Then the new turn starts and if you want to see the report you have to go looking for it, then all turns afterwards you get an instant advanced report. Now once you've chosen what type of report you want you see that report for the turn in question as soon as you exit the menu. It's annoyed me so much over my playthroughs I don't know why it's taken so long to change lol!

* Made your choice of end of turn report immediately show when you exit the menu

Warsim 1.1.5 (Vassalisation War Update)

Hello you beautiful bastards you!

[h3]FORCE VASSALISATION (1 feature)[/h3]

A great idea by one of our discord legends! Now you can launch an attack to force a kingdom to become your vassal!

* Added ability for forced vassalisation attack option against any independent kingdoms (Player must be able to launch total invasions) (credit Sophia the Golden Touched)





[h3]LANDS BEYOND LOCATION EXPANSION (2 features)[/h3]

Always trying to expand and flesh this out more, now there are more hut type locations you can find!

Some hawkeyed community members pointed out some flaws in this system, after far too long testing and experimenting I have overhauled the system and replaced it with 3 smaller systems that work in tandem, now the recruiter knights give a lot more variation and range in their results!

* Reworked the recruiter knight systems code (Now 3 variant versions with a lot more variation) (credit /tmp/daarb + Sorceror Khan Zot)

[h3]GENERATOR DATA (4 features)[/h3]

Added some text and better labels for the generators screen

* Added label to ghost face generator

[h3]Warsim needs a little help![/h3]

If you're still reading, old Warsim is still ticking along but I am trying to do everything in my power to get Warsim to a bigger audience (a tough task for an ascii game in 2024 lol). If any of you know any youtubers, gaming media, podcasters, etc or have any ideas or advice please drop me a message on discord or reddit or leave it in a comment here.

I am always looking for new ways to bring Warsim to more screens and as a solodev it can be hard to juggle marketing/coding/managing the community alongside the many other things im trying to keep in toe irl.

I have a renewed passion for this goal given my living situation has become harder to maintain and I have realised we're really just a few big Warsim videos by bigger youtubers away from a better life.

But I'll keep cracking on no matter what happens, and as always thank you all very much for the seemingly never ending support and love!
